Terry Melanson, in the 4th chapter entitled “Treacherous Offspring?” in his authoritative book about the 18th-century Bavarian order of the illuminati (“Perfectibilists” ), says on page 134 that “a direct line of influence from the illuminati eye to the French Revolution to the Communist League of the Just is realized” in the life and works of Fillipo Michele Buonarroti ,  or what the publisher calls “the factional dynamics, social tensions, and chicanery” of today’s world.

Buonarroti’s History of Babeuf’s ‘Conspiracy of Equals’ (1828) became a bible for revolutionaries, inspiring such leftists as Blanqui and Marx. He proposed a mutualist strategy that would revolutionize society by stages, starting from monarchy to liberalism, then to radicalism, and finally to communism…..

Mikhail Bakunin praised Buonarroti as “the greatest conspirator of his age”,[1] and was heavily influenced by the revolutionary practice of Buonarroti. The Bakunin scholar Arthur Lehning has written of Buonarroti: “He too built up on an international scale, though over a much longer period, an elaborate underground network, on a freemason pattern, sometimes using Masonic institutions, to work for his egalitarian creed of 1796, for a social revolution and for the republicanisation of Europe. For forty years the principles remained the same: the leadership was secret; the existence of the higher grades was unknown to the lower; protean in character, this network took advantage of and used other societies.”[2] Some argue that these principles are clearly evident in Bakunin’s writings.

Says Melanson on page 147, “Conspiration pour l’Egalite  is considered by many to be the Bible of 19th-century socialists and revolutionaries.… This all-important revolutionary manual was readily possessed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and they had almost put into production a German edition, which was to be translated by Moses Hess. [ In a sidebar, Melanson says: “ Moses Hess  (1812-1875) was a long-time friend and collaborator of Marx and Engels. One of the founders of socialism, Hess’ ideas also help to create Zionism.”][See also Shlomo Avineri’s book: ]

“Europe’s Utopian Communists, radicals, reformers, and revolutionaries of the 1830s and 1840s passed Buonarroti’s book from hand-to-hand,” wrote Eugene H. Methvin [in “The Rise of Radicalism: The Social Psychology of Messianic Extremism”, a book cited by  Albert J. Jongman’s “Political Terrorism: A New Guide To Actors, Authors, Concepts, Data Bases, Theories, and Literature” (Second Edition) (REV Exp & Updtd) under the etiology  of terrorism (page 390)].

Vladimir Ze’ev Jabotinsky honored Hess in The Jewish Legion in World War as one of those people that made the Balfour declaration possible, together with Herzl, Rothschild and Pinsker.

“The Christian… imagines the better future of the human species… in the image of heavenly joy… We, on the other hand, will have this heaven on earth.”

(Quote from A Communist Confession of Faith by Moses Hess)[ The Parasites’ Paradise, 16th paragraph][Heaven on Earth: The Rise and Fall of Socialism]

“Eisenstein [in The First Professional Revolutionist : Filippo Michele Buonarroti. Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press. 1959] describes Buonarroti’s  doctrine in Conspiration pour l’Egalite as preaching “despotism of liberty against tyranny,” and to having elements of what can only be described as Orwellian-Jacobin doublespeak. The old man of conspiracy taught the younger generation of the 1830s the doctrine of the “new social order”: the government must take control of every person and guide their entire existence from birth to death…” [Page 148, Melanson’s Perfectibilists].

“Yes, princes and nations shall disappear from off the face of the earth; yes, a time shall come when men shall acknowledge no other law but the great book of nature: this revolution should be the work of secret societies, and that is one of our grand mysteries.”

–Adam Weishaupt, Discourses on the Mysteries; quoted in Augustin  Barruel, Memoirs Illustrating the History of Jacobinism (1798), page 173, Perfectibilists

The Martinist Pentacle

“A society… consisting of men of all ranks,” [the Illuminati had declared], “without reference to their differences of opinion, or to the religious denominations are churches to which they may respectively belong. It’s grand object shall be to disseminate true knowledge among classes, and to bring the ruling princes under guardianship of the order.  With that view, every means will be employed to surround the rulers of the land with persons of well-known and experienced ability, who love the truth, and they will have the courage and off boldly to make it known to those who may have power in their hands” [Melanson’s emphases].

Despite this emphasis on the pragmatic, the lumen is an did have a creed. Combining utopian romanticism with the social primitivism of Rousseau and the moral-relativist maxim  “the end justifies the means,” the socio-political doctrine of Weishaupt anticipated by decades the teachings of Karl Marx and anarchists such as Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and Mikhail Bakunin. Socialist Louis Blanc is quoted as describing Weishaupt as “one of the profoundest conspirators who ever existed.” Even before the various labels were defined in the early 19th century, Weishaupt preached to his disciples the restructuring of society along lines similar to socialism and communism, tinged with elements of nihilism and anarchism.” [Pages 174-175, Perfectibilists]

“What is clearly represented in [Weishaupt’s illuminist] doctrines–especially the rejection of nationalism and patriotism–is the seeds of the modern political ideology which espouses the creation of a one-world government, or the design of a “New World Order.” * The Bavarian Illuminati define themselves–and rightly so–as heads of the machinery  directing a union of “secret associations” for the purpose of world domination. The power elite, today, still use the same Weishauptian arguments ** —  that love of country and sovereignty must give way to globalism, and the formation of a worldwide superstate. The United Nations is the fulfillment of such an ideal, though, thus far, lacking the teeth to truly be effective.

Weishaupt told his disciples that they, the illuminati eye, were destined (and the only ones caught enough) to lead mankind back to virtue. The illuminati supposedly held the “greatest of all secrets which so many year and and vainly look for, the art of governing mankind, to lead it towards virtue.” Utzschneider [ one of their brethren]  had written that his former Brethren —  perhaps this is the real origin of Bakunin’s “invisible dictatorship”–wished “to introduce a worldwide moral regime which would be under their control in every country. This counselor would decide on all matters concerning pardons, appointments and promotions, as well as rejections sine appelatione ad principem [without appeal to higher councils].  This would give it the unlimited right to pronounce final judgment over the honesty and usefulness of an individual.”

* “ a phrase 1st coined by the founder of the Baha’i faith,Mirza Husayn-‘Ali [Baha’u’llah]  (1817-1892) in the late 1860s;

see “World Government Fronts, Psycho-social Change Agents”

According to Baha’u’llah, a genuine New World Order required the establishment of a World Government, World Parliament, World Code of Law, World Tribunal, World Police Force, World Language, a permanent single currency, an international uniform tax, and unity of all of the world’s religions under the umbrella of the Baha’i Faith. The concept of a “New World Order,” as a call to action for the implementation of a One-World-Government, has been used by historian F. S. Marvin in a 1932 book entitled The New-World Order, in which he wrote about the importance of the League of Nations as an unparalleled symbol of a “new world order movement towards world unity and decreased nationality/sovereignty” (see the paper Bush’s New World Order: the meaning behind the words, by Maj. Bart R Kessler [ now at].  Occult Thesosophist Alice Anne Bailey (1880-1949) began using the term in print (as early as I’ve been able to pinpoint) in 1937 with the publication of From Bethlehem to Cavalry; Fabian socialist and science-fiction writer HG Wells, in his book The New World Order, January 1940; 11 months later, Minnesota Rep. John G Alexander (1893-1971), in The Congressional Record (December 12); Sir Harold Butler (1921-1998), in the Council of Roreign Relations’ 1948 issue of Foreign Affairs; in the 1959 Rockefeller Brothers Fund Special Studies Project Report, The Midcentury Challenge to US foreign Policy; The Future of Federalism, by Nelson Rockefeller (1908-1979) in 1959; Richard Nixon (1913-1994) in the October 1967 issue of Foreign Affairs magazine; Nelson Rockefeller again, an Associated Press release, dated July 26, 1968; Ian Baldwin, Jr., Thinking about a New World Order for the Decade 1990, in 1970; Pres. Nixon on a visit to China in 1972; a 1974 report, We Can Achieve a New World Order, by Canadian politician Douglas Roche (b. 1929), presented to the World Conference of Religions for Peace; the 1975 report, A New World Order, published by the Center of International Studies, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Studies, and Princeton University; in the 1975 A Declaration of Interdependence, by Henry Steele Commager (1902-1998)–signed by 32 Senators and 92 Representatives during a session in Congress; Mikhail Gorbachev (b. 1931), at a December 7, 1988 UN address; and – hardly last and certainly not least – Pres. George Herbert Walker Bush (b. 1924), during a nationally televised speech before Congress entitled Toward a New World Order, on September 11, 1990. ** See, for instance, the  recent Richard Haass and  article published by the Taipei Times, Feb. 21, 2006 : “ state sovereignty must be altered in globalized era,” Excerpt:  “the near monopoly of power once enjoyed by sovereign entities is being eroded… States must be prepared to cede some sovereignty to world bodies… Globalization thus implies that sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker… The goal should be to redefine sovereignty for the era of globalization, to find a balance between a world of fully sovereign states and an international system of either world government or anarchy.” [Footnote number 26 on page 198, Perfectibilists]

Peggy Pawlowski, “who wrote her doctoral thesis on Weishaupt and the pedagogy of the Illuminati”,  asserts a connection between “Weishaupt  and the founder of communism. The material in Weishaupt’s  later writings (while in exile), in particular, “clearly describes the phenomenon which marks later classified as class antagonisms and class conflict.”

[Pages 180-181, Perfectibilists]

“Kosselleck’s and Pawloski’s  statements are significant. They mean that some academics–those who’ve actually taken the time to analyze, in a serious light, the creed of the illuminati in terms of socio-political theory as a whole–have essentially validated the narrative promulgated by “conspiracy theorists” for the last 200 years: that the Illuminism of Weishaupt was the forerunner of communism, nihilism and anarchism.” [Page 182, Perfectibilists]

Carry this forward through the progeny of the Illuminati– Skull and Bones and its many educators, intelligence officials , US presidents and the current US Secretary of State, the Council of Foreign Relations, and others — and the children and grand-children of the circular diaspora…. even Hilary Clinton

Cultural Marxism: The corruption of America

Produced by James Jaeger, this documentary shows how a group of Marxist theoreticians, calling themselves The Frankfurt School, plotted the corruption and overthrow of non-Communist nations by systematically undermining their cultures. Called Cultural Marxism, its goal is the use of art, music, education, and media to condition people to accept the essential elements of Marxism without identifying them as such. After a few generations of this conditioning, Marxism becomes the new reality without a violent revolution and even without awareness that a revolution has occurred.

If you want to know how the nations of the world became increasingly Marxist in form, if not in name, here is the strategy

The film’s opening statement by Pat Buchanan prepares the viewer for what is to follow:

“The United States has undergone a cultural, moral, and religious revolution. … We are two countries now. We are two countries morally, culturally, socially, and theologically.

Cultural wars do not lend themselves to peaceful co-existence. One side prevails, or the other prevails. The truth is that, while we won the Cold War with political and economic Communism, we lost the war with cultural Marxism, which now is dominant. Those of us who are traditionalists, we are the counterculture.”

Includes testimony from G. Edward Griffin, Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, Edwin Vieira, and Ted Baehr.

“… A 1962 book published jointly by NTL and the NEA entitled Five Issues in Training addressed the process of “unfreezing, changing, and refreezing” attitudes in order to bring about change by stating the following: “The Chinese communists would remove the target person from those situations and social relationships which tended to confirm and reinforce the validity of the old attitudes.” (p. 49)

This process is widely used in education, theology, medicine, business, government, etc., by pressuring individuals to participate in “retreats,” removing them from familiar surroundings to “unfreeze” their attitudes and values…..”

Marxism, to which all branches of Socialism necessarily adhere, was originated by Jew Karl Marx, himself of rabbinical descent and has been dominated by them from the beginning. Marx did not actually originate anything; he merely “streamlined” Talmudism for Gentile consumption.” The Socialist” system he conceived merely brings about a practical means for a state dominated and controlled through a Jewish minority to rule by absolute dictatorship over everything and everyone, a concept which has been carried out very successfully in those countries of the World brought thus far under Marxist dictatorship.

Socialism is indeed merely the clover held in front of the cow’s nose to get her into the barn under the milking machine. It is a mechanism whereby a “human” can lead a whole non-human herd into the Jewish controlled barn. ~ Elizabeth Dilling

“The Communist soul is the soul of Judaism. Hence it follows that, just as in the Russian revolution the triumph of Communism was the triumph of Judaism, so also in the triumph of fascism will triumph Judaism.” ~ Rabbi Harry Waton, A Program for the Jews and Humanity, p. 143-144

And when you have succeeded you will discover that you can now effect your own legislation at will and you can, by careful organization, by constant campaigns about the terrors of society, by pretence as to your effectiveness, make the capitalist himself, by his own appropriation, finance a large portion of the quiet Communist conquest of that nation.

Address of the Jew Laventria Beria, The Communist Textbook on Psychopolitics, p. 8

“The United Nations is nothing but a trap-door to the Red World’s immense concentration camp. We pretty much control the U.N.” ~ Harold Wallace Rosenthal, Zionist, The Hidden Tyranny

“Remember the only difference between a socialist and a communist is that a socialist is a communist who has not yet found his AK-47 nor worked up the guts to use it, whereas a communist is a socialist who has found his Kalashnikov and is more than willing to use it on his political enemies.” — Mike Vanderboegh

Gorbachev once said “the environmental crisis is the cornerstone for the New World Order” – Gary Kah, The New World Religion, p.142.

Agenda 21 is being implemented and taught as “Local Agenda 21” throughout the U.S. and the world as a whole. Sample searches: “agenda 21″+school; “agenda 21″+church; “agenda 21″+workplace and similar “earth charter”+”school”.

The New World Order as envisioned by the Elite is hardly a recent undertaking. Theirs is a philosophy rooted in ancient occult traditions. Success is near, and the infiltration of society by New Age occultism is the reason for this success. The New World Order has never been solely about world government, rather, from the beginning its proponents have been privy to secret doctrines and it is a spiritual plan more than anything.

If one failed to take into account the occult nature of the New World Order, they would be remiss. The UN and the New Age have been bed-fellows since the beginning. America’s secret destiny is the product of Rosicrucian and Freemason forefathers. The New Atlantis as proposed in Francis Bacon’s work is almost at hand. The Ancient Mysteries are being studied for illumination and enlightenment by the New World Order’s elite. Not to mention the New Age gurus — dutifully recruiting on behalf of the Secret Brotherhood.

In 1980, Marylin Ferguson compiled and espoused a synthesis involving the theories of transformation and the secret plan of the Aquarian Age. In her studies of the scientific advancements of this age involving entropy and syntropy, holism, holographs, paradigm shifts, the uncertainty principle and evolution, she discovered that, “for the first time an American renaissance is taking place in all disciplines, breaking the boundaries between them, transforming them at their farthest reaches—where they all converge.” (The Aquarian Conspiracy, p.12)

Speaking of the networks and web of influence, Ferguson proclaimed: “There are legions of conspirators… in corporations, universities, hospitals, on the faculties of public schools, in factories, in doctors’ offices, in state and federal agencies, on city councils and the White House staff, in state organizations, in virtually all arenas of policy making in the country [U.S.]…[including] at the cabinet level of the United States Government.” (ibid. p.24) However, other New Age proponents said that this is innacurate, in that she had understated the influence of the New Age worldwide, especially in the UN and the EEC…..

These people are called the torchbearers or lightbearers of the New World Order. A spiritual plan that has been traced to the time of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel, up through to the Illuminati and onwards. “A loosely-knit world conspiracy,” David Allen Lewis writes, “a so called Network of Illuminists.” “Whether the Illuminati has one special organization that is its orginal descendant… we can be very sure that its philosophical torchbearers are represented by literally hundreds of organizations and individuals in many diverse realms.” (Dark Angels of Light)

The New Age Movement and Service to The Plan

It should therefore come as no shock, to those who study the One-World Movement, to learn that the earliest One-World organization, The Order of the Illuminati, used sensitivity training.*

In case you missed it up above: [“.. a detailed and fascinating examination of the actual methodology behind the “Change Agent” philosophy” ]

An excerpt:

For those just starting to research the “new world order“, they may be shocked to learn that it’s really about world government. Even the consummate researcher, Joan Veon lamented as much in her book The United Nations’ Global Straightjacket: “I had no idea that it was world government … no one ever made the connection for me.” She certainly made up for the oversight, however. Veon goes on to thoroughly document the players involved, the methods, the organizations and especially the behemoth infrastructure that exists already. Presently, we live in an “unofficial world government.” The world will have to go through some catastrophic event, much larger in scale than 9/11, to catapult us into an “official world government.” Whether it is orchestrated like 9/11, or not, is largely irrelevant to these “masters of Hegemony.” It will come one way or another and the infrastructure is well in place for the Illuminati to take advantage of it.

Another excerpt:

Visit any school in America or the West in general and you will find teaching concepts like outcome-based education; holistic education; transpersonal education; conflict resolution; integrated curriculum; constructivist learning; general systems theory; personal mastery; mental models; child centered classroom; total quality management; school to work; consensus circles; peer mediation; focus groups; values clarification; situational ethics; sensitivity training. Since Humanism is intertwined so completely at the core of Communism, it is no surprise that this humanistic “groupthink education” serves the purpose of paralyzing individual thinking. The Group, the State and eventually a One World Government must be superior to the individual at all costs – group-subservience and group-consensus is vital.

After the Humanists became entrenched in the field of education, the 80s and 90s saw a cultural shift take place. With God successfully rooted out of the secular school system, many times the void was filled with the teaching of yoga, self-hypnosis, meditation, and the altered states of consciousness induction techniques of deep breathing and progressive relaxation. Detailing how the New Age had begun to affect public education, The New York Times Magazine published an article in its May 1st 1988 edition titled Colorado’s Thriving Cults. Under a large picture of children taking a nap, the cover story photograph had the caption: “Third graders listen quietly while a teacher leads a ‘visualization.’ Vocal parents groups have protested the encroachment of New Age practices in school curricula.” The story goes on to say that “meditational techniques have become common fare in the state’s public and private schools”, utilizing “practices adapted from Eastern meditation under the rubrics of ‘centering, stress reduction, or guided visualization’ …” 13  [Yeah, read the end notes too]

In Case You Missed It (Part II): (13:26)

From Doug Hagmann of Canada Free Press comes a chilling account of what’s in store for us if we continue to ignore the bare-faced warnings of the central power base..

Some might be surprised to learn that the fate of America’s economy has already been determined, verified and announced by the Obama White House. Yet, it has received scant attention from the corporate media. In 2011, economist Kyle Bass interviewed a senior member of the Obama administration about its planned solutions for fixing the US economy and trade deficit[ia].

Among the questions he asked was about U.S. exports and wages, but the question itself was not nearly as important as the response he received from this senior administration official. In fact, this single, seven word response clarifies everything, explains everything, and leaves little else to discuss: “We’re just going to kill the dollar.”

The new world order emanates from a mandarin class that is neither left or right. Its members often are the sort of which it has been said that when they are alone in a room, there is no one there. In such a culture the marketplace of ideas essentially shuts down. There is no longer any real politics, only deals. No victories, only leveraged buyouts. No ideology; only brand loyalty. No conservative and liberal, only Coke and Pepsi. –Sam Smith @

Memes, Wish Fulfillment, and Viruses of the Mind

I am convinced that war with Russia is unavoidable. Moreover, I think that Russians have enough reasons to prepare themselves for a war against the United States. Why? Their reasons are valid, reasonable, logical, weighty, authoritative and well grounded.

In the first place, more and more Russians are becoming aware that the creation of the Soviet Union, which immersed their country in a catastrophic moral, social and economic disaster for more than half a century, was the result of a conspiracy hatched by a group of American and English banksters and oil magnates. This group of conspirators feared that Russia as a competitor, mostly in the production of oil, would cause commodity prices to drop. And these banksters, robber barons and oil magnates wanted to limit competition, which they regarded as a sin. They feared what they could not control, and like the proverbial bull in a china shop, what they couldn’t break, they crapped all over.

The descendants of these same sociopaths also brought the long night of Castro’s “communism” —which is actually closer to Fascism— to Cuba, but that’s a different story.

The Russians who believe that their country was sabotaged and derailed are not kooks or paranoid. In a speech to the House of Commons on November 5, 1919, Winston Churchill synthesized the phenomenon in a few words:

. . . Lenin was sent into Russia . . . in the same way that you might send a vial containing a culture of typhoid or of cholera to be poured into the water supply of a great city, and it worked with amazing accuracy. No sooner did Lenin arrive that he began beckoning a finger here and a finger there to obscure persons in sheltered retreats in New York, Glasgow, in Bern, and other countries, and he gathered together the leading spirits of a formidable sect, the most formidable sect in the world . . . With these spirits around him he set to work with demoniacal ability to tear to pieces every institution on which the Russian State depended.

In the 1990s, in their continuing effort to implement the totalitarian global government they call the “New World Order,” the globalist conspirators planned the implosion that caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. This was a required step for their agenda to establish global, uncontested dominance at bankpoint and, if needed, at gunpoint. To that end, they ended the financial support that kept Communists in power in Russia.[1] Then, they put in action their agents inside the Soviet government — Gorbachev was one of them — to carry out the final phase of their plan.

After the total collapse of the Communist regime, the very same banksters who had created the Soviet Union, swooped down on Russia like vultures preying on a carcass. Quickly, they managed to put the country under the controls of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and other predatory global institutions they control. Also, they allowed some criminal elements of the Russian mafia to control key aspects of the Russian economy. But, to their utter surprise, some of the Russians who love their country got a second wind, managed to disentangle themselves from those treasonous institutions, put the criminals in jail and began a speedy economic recovery. But they have not forgotten who brought Communism to their country and, what is even more important, why they did it.

Secondly, the Russian government, like all governments around the world who have an independent intelligence service, have enough proof that the 9/11 events were a false flag operation created by the conspirators who control the U.S. government as a pretext to put in action a global domination operation planned many years before.[2]

One may safely surmise that the Russians have guessed, “If they can kill more than four thousand of their own people on a false flag attack just to advance their secret agenda, what could they do to us?” So, very quietly, they began re-assembling the Russian military machine to change it into an efficient shield to deter the aggressors.

Nevertheless, the conspirators relentlessly keep encircling Russia, depriving her of neighboring allies, in an effort to bring the Russians to their knees. Contrary to what the mainstream press told us, young people with cell phones did not carry out the so-called “Arab Spring”, and it had nothing to do with bringing democracy to the region. The true goal is tightening the noose around Russia’s neck.

Nevertheless, the ultimate goal of the psychopaths who control the Invisible Government of the United States [3] is the elimination of no less that 85 percent of the planet’s population as the first step to implement a world government under their control —the “New World Order.” [4] Now, given the fact that nuclear war is the best tool to accomplish their eugenicist plans of population control, [5] we cannot discard the possibility that they are planning for it.

Now, you may argue that “Why they are planning for a nuclear holocaust in which they and their families might die?” Well, they are working hard to guarantee their survival in case of nuclear war. A few years ago they began frantically buying land in Patagonia, the southernmost part of Argentina and Chile, where they plan to escape previous to a nuclear salvo that will destroy most of the northern hemisphere.[6]

So, a nuclear war with Russia is unavoidable, unless we, the American people, wake up, stop acting like sheeple and overthrow the Invisible Government of the United States.[7] This is not anymore a case of politics, but of survival.

Just recently, during a town meeting with Senator John McCain, one of the people in the audience accused him of being a traitor — which is exactly what he is. For many years McCain has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a traitorous organization whose ultimate goal, as expressed on innumerable occasions, is the elimination of the US sovereignty and its fusion into a world government —a New World Order under the banksters’ total control. But McCain refuted his critic, answering that he’s doing what he’s doing because the people of Arizona keep electing him over and over, therefore, they agree with his actions.

McCain is absolutely right. Both “conservative” Republicans and “liberal” Democrats wash their consciences by blaming the other party for the evils of American politics. But they are the only ones to blame, because they keep electing to public office people like McCain, the Bushes, the Clintons and Obama. So, nobody else but “conservative” Republicans and “liberal,” “progressive” Democrats are the true traitors to this once-great nation.

Unfortunately, none of them are going to be here to take the blame after a nuclear war. Therefore, We the People who don’t believe in them and don’t trust them, are the only ones who can save this country and most of mankind. We must get rid of this cult of conspirators and psychopaths, and we must act fast, because time is running short. Our lives and the lives of our families depend on it.

In his massive scholarly work, Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development, and later in his National Suicide: Military Aid to the Soviet Union, and finally in The Best Enemy Money Can Buy, professor Antony Sutton extensively documented how, militarily, the Soviet Union was kept alive thanks to massive technology transfer, mostly from the United States. Moreover, this technology transfer was not the result of the good work of Soviet spies, but of the treachery of CFR agents at the highest levels of the U.S. government.

(Before It’s News)

Derrick Broze
Activist Post

The battle between a free press and the State has been ongoing since the first days of the printing press. The notion that the citizenry could keep tabs on officials and report back to their respective communities revolutionized the master/servant relationship. For once the people were not doomed to remain ignorant while politicians, and royalty robbed them blind and deaf. Awareness was allowed to grow and swell until bursting into a new era of an informed, educated, and active populace.

This development, however, was not viewed fondly by the established ruling class around the globe. Some States completely destroyed the idea of a free press by merging the government with the media. Others simply worked with corporations to monopolize and direct the information reported on by the media. Beyond media manipulation the free press has also been subject to more direct attacks on journalists, and news organizations.

Local Journalism Under Attack

In my personal pursuit of information as an independent journalist I have met resistance and closed doors as a result of asking tough questions. Recently I have been dealing with a firsthand account of the attack on and narrowing of the definition of journalism.

Over the past 4 years as an activist with the Houston Free Thinkers (HFT)I have veered more and more into the role of journalist, occasionally wearing both hats at the same time. For example, I will attend a protest or rally that I helped plan with the HFT, and later report on the action in an article forActivist Post, or another media outlet I write for. This distinction between activist, and journalist is a blurred one and ultimately unnecessary, as all free humans in the United States are guaranteed freedom of the press, as noted in (but not granted by) the Constitution.

In April 2013 HFT was leaked emails and an image confirming that the Houston Police Department was monitoring our activities.  We investigated the matter by attending City Council meetings, calling the Mayor’s Office, and emailing council members. I even attempted to interview the Mayor regarding the issue (and others) but she ran away from my questions. (5:32)

Eventually we found out about monthly press sessions held by the Houston Police Department with Chief Charles McClelland. These sessions seemed like the perfect venue for us to ask why peaceful activist groups were being monitored by the police. When I inquired about the sessions I was asked what press outlet I worked for. My first reaction was to spout out the radio stations, and news organizations I write and report for. Eventually I was told by an HPD Public Information Officer (PIO) that only “mainstream media” were allowed into the sessions. I was told this was defined as “major radio and television stations”.

Upon hearing this I returned back to City Council to question the Mayor and council further. As you see in the video below I was told that the City Council would look into the matter and to email the Mayor’s Director of Communications/Policy for special “permission” to attend the sessions.

With the Mayoral elections and holidays approaching we left the situation alone and decided to renew our efforts to not only find out why taxpayer dollars were being wasted monitoring our community but also whether the city could legally keep independent media out. As of January 6th, 2014 we relaunched our campaign. I called Janice requesting clarity on the issue and a decision on whether or not I would be allowed to attend the press meeting.

Janice offered a number of excuses on why I did not qualify for attendance of this press session, including non-corporate advertising on websites, accepting funding from viewers/listeners, and a host of other reasons why I am not allowed. Eventually Janice stated what I believe is the real reason I am being barred. She said “If we let you in we will have to let in 200 other independent journalists”. Once again the establishment is worried about being unable to tightly control the narrative and the questions asked to authority figures.

After hanging up the phone I talked with other members of the Houston Free Thinkers and we realized that this issue was about much more than Derrick Broze the journalist; it was dealing with the freedom of the press established in the Constitution and endowed to all free individuals. So in defense of freedom of press in our city we organized a week long phonebomb and email blast of the Mayor’s Offices, Council members, and Janice. A few days into the campaign one of our supporters received this message from Janice: (2:25)

Quite honestly, the phone calls and emails like yours and from others that I’ve received since my last conversation with Mr. Broze also confirm that Houston Free Thinkers is an activist group. I was a reporter for 20 years and I’ve worked in media relations for 11. Never did I or has any other reporter I’ve dealt with launched this type of campaign. It is not a sign of independent journalism, but rather an indication of activism on behalf of a cause. The media briefings are to brief reporters who cover HPD on a regular basis, not to provide a venue for this type of activity. There is a place for that, but it is not at a media briefing.

After we ended our phone and email campaign I decided to send one more email, clarifying my ability to be both a journalist AND an activist. I neatly laid out my position that journalist, or not all free people of the City of Houston should have access to public officials like the Chief of Police. I offered all my press credentials as well. Here was the response from Janice Evans:

Based on the campaign you launched after our conversation and the video clips I’ve found online, I have determined that this is advocacy and activism, not unbiased journalism. As I noted in my emails to several of those who contacted me, I was a reporter for 20 years and I’ve been handling media relations for 11. I, myself, never launched such as a campaign as a reporter and I’ve not encountered other reporters who have done it. I, myself, was very careful as a reporter to not take sides in an issue or controversy and never advocated for one group or another. With regard to the acceptance of advertising, you note in your email below that your group accepts donations from those who directly benefit from their programming. Again, this is advocacy. Based on last week’s display, I have concluded my review and my decision is final.

I have spoken with Ben Swann, and other friends in media about this treatment. Currently I am seeking legal advice and weighing pursuing action against the City in violation of the freedom of the press.

Advocacy or Journalism

One of the more interesting aspects of that whole debacle has been learning about the ongoing debate to define what journalism is or is not, and who should be protected as a journalist.

Currently journalist Barrett Brown is on trial for the “crime” of hyperlinking to hacked files from the private intelligence firm Stratfor. The files were hacked by Jeremy Hammond, recently sentenced to ten years behind bars, and then written about by Brown. During the trial Brown’s status as journalist or advocate/activist has been called into question. Brown has long been a vocal supporter of the Anonymous hacker collective while simultaneously reporting on their activities. The Huffington Post commented:

Ultimately it’s other voices like Barrett’s, without institutional backing or adequate shield law as protection, who are most at risk. Supporting digital security for journalists is one way forward.

Another question raised at his trial could be the false distinction between journalism and activism, or the legitimacy of “advocacy journalism.” This is a crucial debate, but most have long recognized that standards of so-called journalistic objectivity are a joke. Before the 20th century, almost all journalists were partisan, and they were expected to be. Embedding oneself inside a worldwide movement for transparency without even the advantage of a mask, Barrett sensed where the action and the story lay, and decided to become a part of it. His experience told him that the Internet combined with a decentralized collective would be a powerful tool for political change, capable of challenging state and corporate concerns and reshaping the media landscape. His treatment, which is indicative of the perceived threat by those in power, shows that he was onto something.

Wikipedia defines Advocacy Journalism as “a genre of journalism that intentionally and transparently adopts a non-objective viewpoint, usually for some social or political purpose. Because it is intended to be factual, it is distinguished from propaganda. It is also distinct from instances of media bias and failures of objectivity in media outlets, since the bias is intended.”

The post continues, “Some advocacy journalists reject that the traditional ideal of objectivity is possible in practice, either generally, or due to the presence of corporate sponsors in advertising. Some feel that the public interest is better served by a diversity of media outlets with a variety of transparent points of view, or that advocacy journalism serves a similar role to muckrakers or whistleblowers.”

The Federal Attack on Free Media

Both mine and Barrett Brown’s treatment are indicative of an attitude that begins locally and continues up to the federal level. Last year the Free Flow of Information Act was reintroduced to “maintain the free flow of information to the public by providing conditions for the federally compelled disclosure of information by certain persons connected with the news media.”

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Senator Dianne Feinstein insisted that she would not support the bill if protections were offered beyond “covered journalists”. According to Feinstein, and the bill in its current form, a journalist is “someone who is an employee, agent, or independent contractor for a media entity.” In the video below Feinstein asks whether or not “a 17-year-old who drops out of high school, buys a website for $5, and starts a blog” should be protected. (3:13)

Senator Feinstein also fought against protection for Edward Snowden, Wikileaks, and future whistleblowers. The bill passed through the Committee but currently is sitting still waiting to be approved further. While that bill may not survive the public backlash, it is interesting to note that the original reason the bill was brought up in May 2013 was in response to the White House/Associated Press scandal.

It was revealed that the Department of Justice had secretly gathered two months of phone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press. The Justice Department had records of outgoing work and personal phone calls for reporters in New York, Washington, and Hartford, Connecticut from more than 20 phone lines. The Justice Department was apparently looking for the source of an AP story that leaked details of a CIA operation in Yemen.

Later in 2013 a number of media organizations began rebelling against the Obama Administration
restrictions that sometimes keep journalists from taking pictures and video of President Obama performing official duties. The Presidents of the American Society of News Editors and the Associated Press Media Editors told their members to stop using the photos and videos the White House gives out, and that they say amounts to little more than propaganda. Press Secretary Jay Carney met with the organizations in December to discuss the issues. Although Carney downplayed the lack of transparency press officials state that these practices have not been the standard with other administrations.

In October 2013 the Committee to Project Journalists released a study detailing that reporters from a number of mainstream outlets believe the Obama administration to be the most secretive in recent memory. This sentiment was echoed last week by New York Times editor Jill Abramson. Speaking to AlJazeera Abramson said, “This is the most secretive White House that, at least as a journalist, I have ever dealt with.” The Press Secretary denied the secrecy was anything more than typical press and White House back and forth.

Michael Hastings’ Legacy

The death of journalist Michael Hastings raised important questions about the safety of journalists and the dangers that journalists face in pursuit of knowledge. Hastings was a contributing editor to Rolling Stone and reporter for Buzzfeed who received acclaim for his story on General Stanley McChrystal, “The Runaway General”. The article by Hastings set off controversy that resulted in General McChrystal resigning. Hastings began to focus his work on the growing surveillance state, becoming a major thorn in the Obama administration’s side.

In 2013 Hastings died in a car crash under mysterious circumstances. At the time of his death Hastings was working on an investigation into CIA Director John Brennan. Brennan was the architect of George W. Bush’s enhanced interrogation, or torture program. According to leaked documents from the intelligence firm Stratfor, the CIA Director was also behind the Obama Administration’s crackdown on journalists which began last year with the AP phone scandal.

The death created a slew of conspiracies regarding Michael Hastings and whether it is possible that he was targeted for his work and future headaches he may have created for the Obama Administration and Director Brennan. These questions, however unpopular are important for anyone aspiring towards journalism or accountability in general.

So What Is Journalism?

In looking through the many examples of State suppression of media and reporting I have seen a number of definitions of what qualifies as journalism and what does not. According to Wikipedia:Journalism “is a method of inquiry and literary style used in social and cultural representation. It serves the purpose of playing the role of a public service machinery in the dissemination and analysis of news and information. Journalistic integrity is based on the principles of truth, accuracy and factual knowledge… mediums can vary diversely, from print publishing to electronic broadcasting, and from newspaper to television channels, as well as to the web, and to digital technology.”

We have seen examples of controlled journalism, advocacy journalism, citizen journalism, activism, and simply, concerned citizens spreading the word about dangers they witness. Who is it that can truly define, designate and restrict what a journalist is or does? Is that a role we would leave to governments or corporate news outlets to decide? The old guard of media is waking up, and, according to the New York Times are “part of a movement of big-name journalists who are migrating from newspaper companies to digital start-ups.”

The oldstream media and its benefactors are reacting to the blurring line between activist, journalist, and citizen by clamping down on the free flow of information. By attempting to categorize each of us, and mold us into easily defined rigid structures they ensure that only the approved journalists and articles will be released. This also has the effect of normalizing these categories. I have been told by some that they agree with Janice Evans and Dianne Feinstein. They do not believe that Barrett Brown and I are journalists. And in some ways we DON’T fit the old model. In 2014 truth has become too important to leave to a ruling class and establishment media. The people are taking up arms, and by that I mean cameras, pens, and voices. Old Media be damned.

American Psychological Association: No Rebuke for Torture Doctor

The American Psychological Association (APA) has declared that no action will be taken against Dr. John Leso, a retired army psychologist who took part in the torture of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

The Pentagon official who oversaw the military commission against detainee Mohammed Qahtani termed his mistreatment as amounting to “torture,” include sleep deprivation, forced IV hydration, and being forced to “bark like a dog.”

The logs of activity showed Dr. Leso played a direct role in the torture, including advising troops to put the detainee in a swivel chair to keep him from falling asleep. APA members had been calling his involvement a violation of APA policy on interrogations.

Consciousness, art, and psychiatry

Jan 22, 2014  by Jon Rappoport

The hidden history of the CIA’s prison in Poland 23 Jan 2014 On a cold day in early 2003, two senior CIA officers arrived at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw to pick up a pair of large cardboard boxes. Inside were bundles of cash totaling $15 million that had been flown from Germany via diplomatic pouch. They were met by Col. Andrzej Derlatka, deputy chief of the Polish intelligence service, and two of his associates. The Americans and Poles formalized an agreement that over the previous weeks had allowed the CIA the use of a secret prison — a remote villa in the Polish lake district — to interrogate torture ‘al-Qaeda’ suspects. …In December, the European Court of Human Rights heard arguments that Poland violated international law and participated in torture by accommodating its American ally; a decision is expected this year.×330.jpg

Many psychologists and psychiatrists are good people, who are only trying to help their patients. But the Nazi government substantially supported psychologists … many of whom, in turn, espoused extermination of the people they considered to be “racially and cognitively compromised”. Soviet psychiatrists famously aided Stalin in applying fake insanity diagnoses to political dissenters.  The official explanation was that no sane person would declaim the Soviet government and Communism. American psychologists created the American program of torture which was specially-crafted to produce false confessions to justify U.S. military policy. And see this. And authoritarian American psychologists are eager to label anyone “taking a cynical stance toward politics, mistrusting authority, endorsing democratic practices, … and displaying an inquisitive, imaginative outlook” as worthy of a trip to the insane asylum. (Those traits may also get one labeled as a potential terrorist.) As prominent forensic psychiatrist James Knoll – psychiatry professor at SUNY-Syracuse and director of a forensic fellowship program – writes in the Psychiatric Times: When psychiatric science becomes co-opted by a political agenda, an unhealthy alliance may be created. It is science that will always be the host organism, to be taken over by political viruses…. [P]sychiatry may come to resemble a new organism entirely — one that serves the ends of the criminal justice system. Even psychologists with good intentions can erroneously label people delusional simply because they themselves make bad assumptions. There is even a label for this – the “Martha Mitchell Effect” – defined as: The process by which a psychiatrist, psychologist, or other mental health clinician mistakes the patient’s perception of real events as delusional and misdiagnoses accordingly. The authors of a paper on this phenomenon (Bell, V., Halligan, P.W., Ellis, H.D. (2003) Beliefs About Delusions. The Psychologist, 6 (8), 418-422) conclude: Sometimes, improbable reports are erroneously assumed to be symptoms of mental illness [due to a] failure or inability to verify whether the events have actually taken place, no matter how improbable intuitively they might appear to the busy clinician. In other words, psychologists who haven’t taken the time to examine for themselves the claims of their patients will tend to label as delusional anything which they “intuitively” feel is improbable.  As such, psychologists and psychiatrists are just as prone to acting out their irrational prejudices as anyone else … unless they take the time to investigate and educate themselves. Governments Indefinitely Detaining Citizens In Psychiatric Wards Without Due Process of Law As such, detention in psych wards on mere “suspicion” of posing a danger – without due process of law – is troubling. For example, former marine Brandon Raub was just carted off and locked in a psychiatric ward for his allegedly “anti-government” Facebook posts. AP reports today: Police – acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional – took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.   ***   Col. Thierry Dupuis, the county police chief, said Raub was taken into custody upon the recommendation of mental health crisis intervention workers. He said the action was taken under the state’s emergency custody statute, which allows a magistrate to order the civil detention and psychiatric evaluation of a person who is considered potentially dangerous. New York Police officer Adrian Schoolcraft was  involuntarily hospitalizated in a psychiatric ward after he recorded videotapes of his fellow police officers engaging in corruption. Claire Swinney of New Zealand was also held in a psychiatric ward and called “delusional” for criticizing the government.    Susan Lindauer was held under the Patriot Act for a year at Carswell Air Force Base – where psychiatric drugs were pushed on her – after she alleged government corruption. The Daily Mail notes: The [British] Government has established a shadowy new national anti-terrorist unit to protect VIPs, with the power to detain suspects indefinitely using mental health laws.   ***   The team’s psychiatrists and psychologists then have the power to order treatment – including forcibly detaining suspects in secure psychiatric units.   Using these powers, the unit can legally detain people for an indefinite period without trial, criminal charges or even evidence of a crime being committed and with very limited rights of appeal.   Until now it has been the exclusive decision of doctors and mental health professionals to determine if someone should be forcibly detained.   But the new unit uses the police to identify suspects – increasing fears the line is being blurred between criminal investigation and doctors’ clinical decisions.   *** Scotland Yard, which runs the shadowy unit, refuses to discuss how many suspects have been forcibly hospitalised by the team because of “patient confidentiality”.   ***   The purpose of the centre is “to evaluate and manage the risk posed to prominent people by…those who engage in inappropriate or threatening communications or behaviours in the context of abnormally intense preoccupations, many [Many? That means that some are not] of which arise from psychotic illness.” Who gets to decide what “inappropriate” or “threatening” means?  What if a whistleblower has information that a member of parliament has engaged in bribes?  Would trying to reveal such information constitute “inappropriate or threatening communications or behaviours” in the context of “abnormally intense preoccupations” with that MP’s illegal actions? Indeed, a study published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry found a high rate of false positives in the British identification of dangerous persons. The Mail continues: So-called ‘sectioning’ allows a patient to be held for up to six months before a further psychological assessment. Patients are then reviewed every year to determine if they can be released.   ***   Human rights activists fear the team, whose existence has never been publicised, may be being used as a way to detain suspected terrorists without having to put evidence before the courts.   ***   Last night human rights group Liberty said the secret unit represented a new threat to civil liberties.   Policy director Gareth Crossman said: “There is a grave danger of this being used to deal with people where there is insufficient evidence for a criminal prosecution.   “This blurs the line between medical decisions and police actions. If you are going to allow doctors to take people’s liberty away, they have to be independent. That credibility is undermined when the doctors are part of the same team as the police.   “This raises serious concerns. First that you have a unit that allows police investigation to lead directly to people being sectioned without any kind of criminal proceedings.   “Secondly, it is being done under the umbrella of anti-terrorism at a time when the Government is looking at ways to detain terrorists without putting them on trial.”   ***   The team examined thousands of cases and liaised with the FBI, the US Secret Service, the Capitol Hill Police, which protects Congressmen and Senators, and the Swedish and Norwegian secret services.   ***   Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said: “The Government is trying to bring in a wider definition of mental disorder and is resisting exclusions which ensure that people cannot be treated as mentally disordered on the grounds of their cultural, political or religious beliefs.   “When you hear they are also setting up something like this police unit, it raises questions about quite what their intentions are.   “The use of mental health powers of detention should be confined to the purposes of treatment. But the Government wants to be able to detain someone who is mentally disordered even when the treatment would have no benefit.   “Combined with the idea that someone could be classed as mentally ill on the grounds of their religious beliefs, it is a very worrying scenario.” Indeed, the whole “indefinite detention” process (which Americans living on American soil are subject to) can be based on circular reasoning: The government’s indefinite detention policy – stripped of it’s spin – is literally insane, and based on circular reasoning. Stripped of p.r., this is the actual policy:

  • If you are an enemy combatant or a threat to national security, we will detain you indefinitely until the war is over
  • It is a perpetual war, which will never be over
  • But trust us, we know you are an enemy combatant and a threat to national security
  • We may torture you (and try to cover up the fact that you were tortured), because you are an enemy combatant, and so basic rights of a prisoner guaranteed by the Geneva Convention don’t apply to you
  • Since you admitted that you’re a bad guy (while trying to tell us whatever you think we want to hear to make the torture stop), it proves that we should hold you in indefinite detention

See how that works? This is an analogy.  We are not accusing psych wards of using torture.  However, they do often use powerful psychiatric drugs on patients … which can elicit false confessions. Are we going to slide into Soviet levels of psychiatric detention of political dissidents? Unless the spread of psychiatric detention without due process of law is checked, the mere belief that the government is interfering with your liberty may become grounds for locking you away.

List of Actions or Beliefs Which May Get You Labeled a Terrorist Grows Daily

Every American could – literally – be labeled a suspected terrorist under current governmental criteria.

Specifically, the following actions may get a U.S. citizen labeled as a suspected terrorist today:

Holding the following beliefs may also be considered grounds for suspected terrorism:

See Something, Act Like a Snitch in Nazi Germany, Stasi East Germany or Iraq

I initially thought that Paul Joseph Watson was overreacting when he claimed that a Homeland Security video paints the following activities as signs of potential terrorism:

  • Opposing surveillance
  • Talking to police officers
  • Wearing a hoodie
  • Driving a van
  • Writing on a piece of paper

But Watson makes a brilliant point about Homeland Security’s “See Something Say Something” campaign, and how accusations of terrorism actually spread:

As Robert Gellately of Florida State University has highlighted, Germans under Hitler denounced their neighbors and friends not because they genuinely believed them to be a security threat, but because they expected to selfishly benefit from doing so, both financially, socially and psychologically via a pavlovian need to be rewarded by their masters for their obedience.

At the height of its influence around one in seven of the East German population was an informant for the Stasi. As in Nazi Germany, the creation of an informant system was wholly centered around identifying political dissidents and those with grievances against the state, and had little or nothing to do with genuine security concerns. [Indeed, the American government has been using anti-terror laws to crush dissent and to help the too big to fail businesses compete against smaller businesses (and see this. And the Department of Homeland Security has been distracted by activities which have very little to do with terrorism.)]

This is the kind of society the Department of Homeland Security is, whether deliberately or inadvertently, recreating in 21st century America.

Gellately’s website notes:

“I started to read these files about all the victims in just one region of Germany that the Gestapo had processed,” Gellately says. “It would have taken a large force of secret police to collect information on so many people. I needed to know just how many secret police there really were. So I asked an elderly gentleman who would’ve lived through those times, and he replied, ‘They were everywhere!’”

That was the prevailing myth.

“But I had evidence right there in my hands that supported a different story,” Gellately explains. “There were relatively few secret police, and most were just processing the information coming in. I had found a shocking fact. It wasn’t the secret police who were doing this wide-scale surveillance and hiding on every street corner. It was the ordinary German people who were informing on their neighbors.”

As he was uncovering who was acting as the Gestapo’s unsolicited agents, he also began to discern what motivated neighbor to inform on neighbor. The surviving myth told the story of informers who were motivated either by a commitment to the Third Reich or by a fear of authority.

But the motives Gellately found were banal—greed, jealousy, and petty differences.

He found cases of partners in business turning in associates to gain full ownership; jealous boyfriends informing on rival suitors; neighbors betraying entire families who chronically left shared bathrooms unclean or who occupied desirable apartments.

And then there were those who informed because for the first time in their lives someone in authority would listen to them and value what they said.

Backing Hitler also challenges conventional views on the nature of modern dictatorships. Perhaps as a way for us to believe that “it couldn’t happen here,” we have viewed the Holocaust as an atrocity that was the work of a handful of evil men. Gellately, however, presents persuasive evidence that Hitler and the Third Reich were able to build a consensus for their policies.

“They began with small violations of the rights of Jews and other minorities, and then ratcheted up their racism and persecution only when they saw implied consent from the German people.” Gellately says. “Many Germans disapproved of Hitler’s fascism and brutality, at first. But after the long economic depression following the First World War, the German people allowed the thriving economy and return to law and order under Hitler to mute their concerns. People had jobs and the streets were safe. Hitler was managing a fine balance of consent and coercion.”

The same dynamic played out in Iraq. People turned their neighbors in to the American military pretending they were Al Qaeda, based on petty jealousies or just wanting to get a reward. Specifically, neutral observers say that most of the Iraqis tortured in Iraq were innocent farmers, villagers, or those against whom neighbors held a grudge. Iraqis received a cash reward from the U.S. military for turning people in as “suspected terrorists”. See this movie.

The number two man at the State Department under Colin Powell (Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson), the commander of the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and official U.S. military records all confirm that virtually all of the people turned in and subsequently tortured were innocent

Fort Leonard Wood Public Affairs director Tiffany Wood has provided the first official response to the shocking U.S. Army document that outlines the implementation of re-education camps, admitting that the manual was “not intended for public release” and claiming that its provisions only apply outside the United States, a contention completely disproved by the language contained in the document itself.

After a reader sent Wood a link to where the manual, entitled FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations (PDF), can be downloaded on the website (but only by military employees with special credentials), Wood responded by stating that the document should not be in the public domain.

“The document was not intended for public release,” said Wood, adding, “Any other questions regarding the
document, you will need to file a FOIA request.”

This means that either hackers have obtained access to a secure military website and downloaded the manual or it was leaked by a military employee concerned about the content of the document.

As we have exhaustively illustrated, the document is a training manual for U.S. Army personnel that details how to treat detainees incarcerated in prison camps both abroad and inside the United States.

The manual outlines how officers will develop programs to “indoctrinate” “political activists” incarcerated in detention camps into developing an “understanding and appreciation of U.S. policies and actions.” The document also explains how “reeducating the I/R facility population or setting the stage for acceptance of future operations,” is the responsibility of ‘PSYOP’ personnel within the camp.

The document also makes clear that the internment facility is not only a re-education camp but also a forced labor camp. Page 277 of the manual states, “Detainees constitute a significant labor force of skilled and unskilled individuals. These individuals should be employed to the fullest extent possible in work that is needed to construct, manage, perform administrative functions for, and maintain the internment facility.”

To Build a Castle-My Life As a Dissenter

Viking Press, NY 1978

Author: Vladimir Konstantinovich Bukovskiĭ

He is a published neurophysiologist.ý%20V%22%5BAuthor%5D

“In recent years in our country a number of court orders have been made involving the placing in psychiatric hospitals (“of special type” and otherwise) of people who in the opinion of their relatives and close friends are mentally healthy. These people are: Grigorenko, Rips, Gorbanevskaya, Novodvorskaya, Yakhimovich, Gershuni, Fainberg, Victor Kuznetsov, Iofe, V. Borisov and others – people well known for their initiative in defence of civil rights in the U.S.S.R.

This phenomenon arouses justified anxiety, especially in view of the widely publicized placing of the biologist Zhores Medvedev in a psychiatric hospital by extrajudical means.

— Bukovsky’s 1971 letter addressed to Western Psychiatrists[17][18]:80–81

In 1974, Bukovsky and the incarcerated psychiatrist Semyon Gluzman wrote A Manual on Psychiatry for Dissenters,[22][23] in which they provided potential future victims of political psychiatry with instructions on how to behave during inquest in order to avoid being diagnosed as mentally ill.[24]

Vladimir Bukovsky is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute. Bukovsky is a former Soviet political dissident, author, and activist. He spent a total of twelve years in Soviet prisons, labor camps, and forced-treatment psychiatric hospitals. Bukovsky is the author and editor of various books describing his experience. He managed to smuggle out of the archives a series of documents including KGB reports to the Central Committee, which were later published electronically under the name Soviet Archives. The collection of documents was later massively quoted in Bukovskys Judgement in Moscow (1994) based on his experience in 1992 with what he had hoped would be a Nuremberg-style trial for the CPSU before the Constitutional Court of Russia. He is also the author of Soul of Man Under Socialism (1979), To Build a Castle: My Life as a Dissenter (1979), and Soviet Hypocrisy and Western Gullibility (1987). Settled in Cambridge, England, since 1976, he has in recent years repeatedly called for Russian liberals to stand up to Prime Minister Vladimir Putins unconstitutional behavior. In 2004 he was one of the founders of the Committee 2008 whose purpose is to ensure free and fair elections in Russia.

[7-minute video of Bukovsky speaking about the legacy of the Soviet Union at the link….]

Excerpts from Bukovsky’s “To Build a Castle”

[The title reflects the singularly-effective mental exercise to which he devoted himself during the height of his psychiatric torture — complete with forced feeding and the other usual-and-customary methods of torture and interrogation — in designing and then furnishing — in his mind, without the use of software or pen or pencil –a castle.]

Page 10

“No matter how I looked at it, it was clear there could be no other university for me but Vladimir Prison. Even if they didn’t stick a new stretch on me, I’d be in exile until 1983, when I would be 41 and that was no age for studying. And there was nothing good to be expected when I was let out. Only greenhorns, when they come in for their 1st stretch, look forward to the release and count the days. Life outside appears to them as some bright, sunny, unattainable shore. But I was in for the 4th time, I knew that there is nothing more disillusioning in life than to be released from jail.  I also knew that I had never managed to last longer than a single damned year outside–and never would. Because the reasons that had landed me in jail in the first place would land me there again and again. These reasons were immutable, justice is just as Soviet life itself was immutable, just as you yourself could never change. You would never be allowed to be yourself, and you would never agree to lie and dissimulate. And there was no other way out.”

“… When you meet a person for the first time, you invariably thought of him as a witness at your future trial. Which interrogation he would crack at–the 1st or the 2nd? Which of his weaknesses with the KGB seize upon? If he was timid, they would try to frighten him; if he was vain, humiliate him; if he loved his children, they would threaten to put them in a children’s home. And you looked searchingly into his eyes–we crack when they threatened him with a lunatic asylum? Few can hold out then. Therefore, don’t burden your neighbor with information he doesn’t need, don’t place them in a position where he will be later be stricken with a guilty conscience. You are a leper, you have no right to a normal human life, everyone who comes into contact with you runs the risk of being infected, and if you truly care for someone, avoid him, steer clear of him, pretend that you didn’t recognize and didn’t see him. Otherwise, the full weight of the state will descend on his head tomorrow.

And that is why, cramming 25 hours into 24, stretching every week into a month, you have got to accomplish the maximum of what is possible and even the impossible, because tomorrow you will be back in the affordable jail and will be a long, long time, or perhaps never, before you get the chance to do anything again. And again you will agonize over the things you omitted to do, or you could have done better and more effectively, and you will punish yourself for dawdling. Just think of all those decades when people were helpless to do anything at all–even to spit in the faces of their murderers. Millions went to the grave, dreaming of some way to avenge their agonies. And you–you had the chance to broadcast it to the whole world, you have friends you can rely on, and time–what did you do?”

“[There was a reason] why I felt obliged to plan out my prison time in advance and see that I spent every minute studying, and that was prison life itself.

Anyone who didn’t discipline himself, who didn’t concentrate his attention on some steady object of study, was in danger of losing his mind, or at the very least of losing control of himself. When subjected to such total isolation and absence of daylight, given the monotony and the constant cold and constant hunger prison life, a man tended to fall into a kind of half-conscious trance. For hours and maybe even days he would sit there, gazing with unseeing eyes at a photograph of his wife and children, or leafing through the pages of a book, taking in and remembering nothing, or else he would suddenly start an endless, senseless altercation with one of his neighbors over some totally trivial issue, bogging down repeatedly in the same arguments, not bothering to listen to what his opponent was saying, and in fact not answering his objections at all. He would find it absolutely impossible to concentrate on anything this definite or follow the threat of an argument.” [Page 13]

“The most unpleasant thing of all was the sensation of having lost your personality. It was as if your soul, with all of its intricacies, convolutions, hidden nooks and crannies, had been pressed by a giant flatiron, so that was now is smooth and flat as a starched dickey. Jail makes you anonymous. As a result, every man strives to stand out from the crowd, to stress his individuality, to appear better and superior to the rest. There used to be constant fights in the criminals’ cells, constant struggles for leadership, culminating even in murder. Among the political prisoners, of course, there was none of that, but after 4 or 5 months of sitting in the same cell with the same people, you got to know them so well that you came to detest them, and they you. At any moment of the day the new what they were going to do next, what they were thinking, what question they were about to ask you. And it usually ended up with nobody saying anything to anybody, because they are the new all there was to know. You wondered at the paucity of man’s resources, if after 6 months we have nothing left to say to each other.”

“Now multiply all these burdens by years and years, square them, add all of the other years that you served in other camps and investigation prisons, and you will understand why it is essential to fill every spare minute of your time with constant activity–best of all was studying some complex subject that demands enormous concentration. From the unremitting electric light, your eyelids start to itch and grow inflamed. You read the same phrase dozens and dozens of times and still you can’t grasp it. With a superhuman effort you master a page, but no sooner return did then you forgot that again. Go back. Read it 20, 30 times. Don’t allow yourself a cigarette until you finished the chapter, so don’t allow yourself to think of anything else, don’t dream, don’t get distracted, don’t even allow yourself to go to the toilet–nothing in the world is more important than to finish which are set for yourself for that day. And if, by the next day, you forgotten it all, go back and read again. And if you finish the whole book, you can allow yourself the luxury of a day off–but only one, because after the first day your memory starts to slacken again, your attention wanders, and you slowly start to go under, like a drowning man–down, down, until there is a roaring in your ears and you see spots before your eyes, and it’s touch and go whether you will ever come up again.

This is particularly noticeable when you are alone in the punishment cell, in the box. There, you get no paper, no pencil, and no books. They don’t take you out for exercise or to the bathhouse….Gradually you lose all sense of reality. Your body stiffens, your movements become mechanical, and the more time passes the more you turn into some kind of inanimate object.….”

“… I had asked Pyotr Yakovlevich to make me a short-wave receiver. We were able to order all the necessary parts through one of the free workers, a “courier” who used to bring tea into the camp. I was in a terrible hurry and kept urging him to go faster, which made him frown. It wasn’t his way to rush things. If the job was worth doing, it was worth doing well.

And indeed, it was a superb radio–it picked up everything: the BBC, Voice of America, Radio liberty, Deutsche Welle,  and even radio Monte Carlo. The only station he didn’t get was Moscow. How Pyotr Yakovlevich managed to exclude Moscow I will never know.

The radio was kept in one of the schoolrooms were school equipment was stored, disguised as a piece of physics apparatus. The school steward,  a prisoner, used to let me into that room secretly every evening, and there are would plunge into a completely different life. I was back with my friends, deploring their arrests, accompany them to Red Square to protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia, writing protest letters.

The year of climax was 1968. It seemed that any moment the regime must retreat and renounce its self-destructive obstinacy. It was getting too dangerous: like a chain reaction, repression was drawing more and more people into the civil rights movement. Whole peoples threatened to move into action, and this threatened the very existence of the world’s last colonial empire. For the question of whether we were citizens or subjects was decisive for the resolution of national problems, too. A citizen possesses has rights  from birth. A subject is endowed with them as a dispensation from on high.  But to be a Ukrainian, a Russian, or a Jew was also a natural right: the state this citizens carry within them, and only that, besides what the external state will be.

The Soviet authorities had no way out. No matter how stupid, dangerous, and even suicidal such obstinacy might prove to be, to acknowledge the sovereignty of those inner states in man might’ve signified the end of the Soviet system, just as to his acknowledge the sovereignty of the separate nations would have meant the end of the Empire. The authorities understood only too well that socialism with a human face was impossible. Having sent the tanks into Prague, they were in essence sending them into Kiev and Vilnius as well, and into the Caucasus and Central Asia. Yes, and even into Moscow itself.

The troops of the Warsaw Pact had been sent to destroy my castle and were defeated head on by seven individuals in Red Square. [See the book Red Square At Noon by Natalia Gorbanevskaya (Holt, Rinehart and Winston, Incorporated, 1972)]. On Execution Place, where brigands used to be beheaded, socialism was given a public execution, and I could have wept over my inability to be there with my friends. ….

In the evenings, just before lights out, when I returned to the compound after listening to these broadcasts and strolled along the barbed wire fence, brightly illuminated by the searchlights, I was filled with the wondrous wonderful sense of freedom, ease and power.

Prime ministers and presidents maintained a cowardly silence about the invasion of Czechoslovakia, preferring their comradely dinners with Brezhnev and Husak in a friendly atmosphere. The United Nations was also disgracefully mute, paying no heed to the flood of appeals from my friends.

“They will be ground to dust,” said Pyotr Yakovlevich judiciously. “What can they do against such power? They’d have done better to sit quietly and not be in such a hurry.

“There you are, you see,” said the tipsy captain. “How can you go again such a force? They’ll simply murder you, you mark my words. They’ll shoot you down and that’s that.”

In the factories and mills, meetings were organized of workers, who unanimously approved the sending of the troops to Czechoslovakia. Soviet newspapers printed letters from milkmaids and deer breeders, school teachers and steelworkers, writers and professors. And everyone, from the president of the USA and the general secretary of the UN to the last guard in our camp, bow their heads before brute force.

No, it wasn’t I who was in the concentration camp, but they, who had voluntarily embraced their unfreedom.”

“… a copy of The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, published in this tiny format, which could be concealed in a pocket.”

What does GULAG mean?

It stands for “Glavnoye Upravleniye Ispravitel’no-Trudovykh Lagerey i koloniy” or “The Chief Administration of Corrective Labour Camps and Colonies”. In fact, it was simply a continuation of the SLUN system but it was given its name in Kotlas north of Moscow through an order in 1928. The name was then adopted for the entire slave camp empire governed by the GPU, under which Kolyma (or Dalstroy) was included, at least officially, as there is evidence that Dalstroy in some cases received orders directly from Stalin himself.

[Editor’s note: While I own the first volume and was proceeding to dictate the excerpts, I soon enough discovered that the full tet is online here: ]

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: what would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those blue-caps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you be cracking the skull of a cutthroat. Or what about the Black Maria sitting out there on the street with one lonely chauffeur? what if it had been driven off or its tires spiked? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport, and not withstanding all Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

If… If….We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more –we had no awareness of the real situation. We spent ourselves in one unrestrained outburst in 1917, and then we hurried to submit. We submitted with pleasure!….We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterwards.”

Footnote number 5, on page 13, in the 1st chapter entitled “Arrest”, in The Gulag Archipelago, by Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

“And even though V. I. Lenin,  at the end of 1917, in order to establish “strictly revolutionary order,” demanded “merciless suppression of attempted anarchy on the part of drunkards, hooligans, counterrevolutionaries, and other persons”–in other words, foresaw that drunkards and hooligans represented the principal danger to the October Revolution, with counterrevolutionaries somewhere back in 3rd place–he nonetheless but the problem more broadly. In his essay “How to Organize the Competition” (January 7 and 10, 1918),  V. I. Lenin proclaimed the common, united purpose of “purging the Russian land of all kinds of harmful insects.”….True, the forms of insect-purging which Lenin conceived of in this essay were most varied: in some places they would be placed under arrest, and other places set the cleaning latrines; in some, “after  having served their time in punishment cells, they would be handed yellow tickets”; and others, parasites would be shot; elsewhere you could take your pick of imprisonment “or punishment forced labor of the hardest kind”. Even though he perceived and suggested the basic directions punishment should take, Vladimir Ilyich proposed that “communes and communities” should compete to find the best methods of purging.”

[Page 27]

“It would’ve been impossible to carry out this hygienic purging, especially under wartime conditions, if they had had to follow outdated legal processes of normal judicial procedures. And so an entirely new form was adopted: extradition judicial reprisal, and this thankless job was self’s-sacrificing rate assumed by the Cheka, the Sentinel of the Revolution, which was the only punitive organ in human history that combined in one set of hands investigation, arrest, interrogation, prosecution, trial, and execution of the verdict.

In 1918, in order to speed up the cultural history of the revolution as well, they began to ransack the churches and brought the relics of saints, and to carry off church plate. Popular disorders broke out in defense of the plundered churches and monasteries. Here and there the alarm bells rang out, and the Orthodox believers rushed forth, some of them with clubs. Naturally, some had to be expended right on the spot and others arrested.

In considering now the period from 1918 to 1920, we are in difficulties: Should we classify among the prison waves all those who were done in before they even got to the prison cells? And in what classification should we put those whom the Committees of the Poor clerk behind the wing of the village soviet or to the rear of the courtyard, and finished off right there? Did the participants in the clusters of plots uncovered in every province (…) at least succeed in setting foot on the land of the Archipelago, or did they not–and are they therefore not related to the subject of our investigations?… We know of certain events only by their names–for instance, the Kolpino executions of June, 1918. What were they? Who were they? And where should they be classified?

[“On May 9, 1918, at the town of Kolpino, near Petrograd, armed guards opened fire on an angry group of workers protesting at the local soviet over shortages of jobs and food.” ]

There’s also no little difficulty in deciding whether we should classified among the prison waves are on the balance sheets of the Civil War those tens of thousands of hostages, i.e., people not personally accused of anything, those peaceful citizens not even listed by name, who were taken off and destroyed simply to terrorize or wreak vengeance on a military enemy or a rebellious population.….”

[Pages 28-29]

“We are going to bang our fist on the table so hard that the world will shake with terror!”

“… Therefore we will merely recall that the country-wide poverty and shortages during the period when the government, all institutions, and the laws themselves were being reorganized could serve only to increase greatly the number of thefts, robberies, assaults, bribes, and the resale of merchandise for excessive profit (speculation). Even though these crimes presented less danger to the existence of the Republic, they, too, had to be repressed, and their own waves of prisoners served to swell the waves of counterrevolutionaries. And there was speculation, too, of a purely political character, as was pointed out in the decree of the Council of People’s Commissars signed by Lenin on July 22, 1918: “Those guilty of selling, or buying up, or keeping for sale in the way of business food products which have been placed under the monopoly of the Republic [A peasant keeps grains for sale in the way of business. What else is his business anyway?] . . . imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years, combined with the most severe forced labor and confiscation of all their property.” [Page 33]

That same year, 1921, began with Cheka Order No. 10, dated January 8: “To intensify the repression of the bourgeoisie.” Now, when the Civil War had ended, repression was not to be reduced but intensified! Voloshin has pictured for us in several of his poems how this worked out in the Crimea.

In the summer of 1921, the State Commission for Famine Relief, including Kuskova, Prokopovich, Kishkin, and others, was arrested. They had tried to combat the unprecedented famine in Russia. The heart of the matter, however, was that theirs were the wrong hands to be offering food and could not be allowed to feed the starving. The chairman of this commission, the dying Korolenko, who was pardoned, called the destruction of the commission “the worst of dirty political tricks, a dirty political trick by the government.”

[Korolenko’s letter to Gorky, September 14, 1921. Korolenko also reminds us of a particularly important situation in the prisons of 1921: “Everywhere they are saturated with typhus.” This has been confirmed by Skripnikova and others imprisoned at the time.] [Page 34]

“… but the lists were kept; his turn would and did come; he was arrested or else politely invited to an interrogation, where he was asked just one question: Had he been a member of such and such, from then till then? (There were also questions about hostile activity, but the first question decided everything, as is clear to us now, decades later.) From there on his fate might vary. Some were put immediately in one of the famous Tsarist central prisons—fortunately, all the Tsarist central prisons had been well preserved—and some socialists even ended up in the very same cells and with the very same jailers they had had before. Others were offered the opportunity of going into exile—oh, not for long, just for two or three years. And some had it even easier: they were merely given a minus (a certain number of cities were forbidden) and told to pick out a new place of residence themselves, and for the future would they please be so kind as to stay fixed in that one place and await the pleasure of the GPU.” [Page 34-35]

“In the spring of 1922 the Extraordinary Commission for Struggle Against Counterrevolution, Sabotage, and Speculation, the Cheka, recently renamed the GPU, decided to intervene in church affairs. It was called on to carry out a “church revolution”—to remove the existing leadership and replace it with one which would have only one ear turned to heaven and the other to the Lubyanka. The so-called “Living Church” people seemed to go along with this plan, but without outside help they could not gain control of the church apparatus. For this reason, the Patriarch Tikhon was arrested and two resounding trials were held, followed by the execution in Moscow of those who had publicized the Patriarch’s appeal and, in Petrograd, of the Metropolitan Veniamin, who had attempted to hinder the transfer of ecclesiastical power to the “Living Church” group. Here and there in the provincial centers and even further down in the administrative districts, metropolitans and bishops were arrested, and, as always, in the wake of the big fish, followed shoals of smaller fry: archpriests, monks, and deacons. These arrests were not even reported in the press. They also arrested those who refused to swear to support the “Living Church” “renewal” movement.

Men of religion were an inevitable part of every annual “catch,” and their silver locks gleamed in every cell and in every prisoner transport en route to the Solovetsky Islands.

From the early twenties on, arrests were also made among groups of theosophists, mystics, spiritualists. (Count Palen’s group used to keep official transcripts of its communications with the spirit world.) Also, religious societies and philosophers of the Berdyayev circle. The so-called “Eastern Catholics”—followers of Vladimir Solovyev—were arrested and destroyed in passing, as was the group of A. I. Abrikosova. And, of course, ordinary Roman Catholics—Polish Catholic priests, etc.—were arrested, too, as part of the normal course of events.

However, the root destruction of religion in the country, which throughout the twenties and thirties was one of the most important goals of the GPU-NKVD, could be realized only by mass arrests of Orthodox believers. Monks and nuns, whose black habits had been a distinctive feature of Old Russian life, were intensively rounded up on every hand, placed under arrest, and sent into exile. They arrested and sentenced active laymen. The circles kept getting bigger, as they raked in ordinary believers as well, old people, and particularly women, who were the most stubborn believers of all and who, for many long years to come, would be called “nuns” in transit prisons and in camps.

True, they were supposedly being arrested and tried not for their actual faith but for openly declaring their convictions and for bringing up their children in the same spirit. As Tanya Khodkevich wrote:

You can pray freely
But just so God alone can hear.

(She received a ten-year sentence for these verses.)

A person convinced that he possessed spiritual truth was required to conceal it from his own children! In the twenties the religious education of children was classified as a political crime under Article 58-10 of the Code—in other words, counterrevolutionary propaganda!

True, one was still permitted to renounce one’s religion at one’s trial: it didn’t often happen but it nonetheless did happen that the father would renounce his religion and remain at home to raise the children while the mother went to the Solovetsky Islands. (Throughout all those years women manifested great firmness in their faith.) All persons convicted of religious activity received tenners, the longest term then given.

(In those years, particularly in 1927, in purging the big cities for the pure society that was coming into being, they sent prostitutes to the Solovetsky Islands along with the “nuns.” Those lovers of a sinful earthly life were given three-year sentences under a more lenient article of the Code. The conditions in prisoner transports, in transit prisons, and on the Solovetsky Islands were not of a sort to hinder them from plying their merry trade among the administrators and the convoy guards. And three years later they would return with laden suitcases to the places they had come from. Religious prisoners, however, were prohibited from ever returning to their children and their home areas.)

As early as the early twenties, waves appeared that were purely national in character—at first not very large in proportion to the populations of their homelands, especially by Russian yardsticks: Mussavatists from Azerbaijan; Dashnaks from Armenia; Georgian Mensheviks; and Turkmenian Basmachi, who were resisting the establishment of Soviet power in Central Asia. (The first Central Asian Soviets were Russian in makeup by an overwhelming majority, and were therefore seen as outposts of Russian power.) In 1926 the Zionist society of “Hehalutz” was exiled in toto—since it had failed to respond to the all-powerful upsurge of internationalism.” [Pages 36-38]

A typical example from this wave: Several dozen young people got together for some kind of musical evening which had not been authorized ahead of time by the GPU. They listened to music and then drank tea. They got the money for the tea by voluntarily contributing their own kopecks. It was quite clear, of course, that this music was a cover for counterrevolutionary sentiments, and that the money was being collected not for tea but to assist the dying world bourgeoisie. And they were all arrested and given from three to ten years—Anna Skripnikova getting five, while Ivan Nikolayevich Varentsov and the other organizers of the affair who refused to confess were shot!” [Page 43]

“… in every village there were people who in one way or another had personally gotten in the way of the local activists. This was the perfect time to settle accounts with them of jealousy, envy, insult. A new word was needed for all these new victims as a class—and it was born. By this time it had no “social” or “economic” content whatsoever, but it had a marvelous sound: podkulachnik—”a person aiding the kulaks.” In other words, I consider you an accomplice of the enemy…..” [Pages 56-57]

“… Comrade Molotov said on May 17, 1933: “We do not see our task as being mass repressions.” Whew! At last! Begone, nighttime fears! But what’s that dog howling out there?….”[page 58]

“… In all truth, there is no step, thought, action, or lack of action under the heavens which could not be punished by the heavy hand of Article 58.

The article itself could not be worded in such broad terms, but it proved possible to interpret it this broadly.

Article 58 was not in that division of the Code dealing with political crimes; and nowhere was it categorized as “political.” No. It was included, with crimes against public order and organized gangsterism, in a division of “crimes against the state.” Thus the Criminal Code starts off by refusing to recognize anyone under its jurisdiction as a political offender. All are simply criminals.

Article 58 consisted of fourteen sections.

In Section 1 we learn that any action (and, according to Article 6 of the Criminal Code, any absence of action) directed toward the weakening of state power was considered to be counterrevolutionary.

Broadly interpreted, this turned out to include the refusal of a prisoner in camp to work when in a state of starvation and exhaustion. This was a weakening of state power. And it was punished by execution….” [Pages 60-61]

But there was no section in Article 58 which was interpreted as broadly and with so ardent a revolutionary conscience as Section 10. Its definition was: “Propaganda or agitation, containing an appeal for the overthrow, subverting, or weakening of the Soviet power . . . and, equally, the dissemination or preparation or possession of literary materials of similar content.” For this section in peacetime a minimum penalty only was set (not any less! not too light!); no upper limit was set for the maximum penalty.

Such was the fearlessness of the great Power when confronted by the word of a subject.

The famous extensions of this famous section were as follows: The scope of “agitation containing an appeal” was enlarged to include a face-to-face conversation between friends or even between husband and wife, or a private letter. The word “appeal” could mean personal advice. And we say “could mean” because, in fact, it did.

“Subverting and weakening” the government could include any idea which did not coincide with or rise to the level of intensity of the ideas expressed in the newspaper on any particular day. After all, anything which does not strengthen must weaken: Indeed, anything which does not completely fit in, coincide, subverts!

And he who sings not with us today
is against

The term “preparation of literary materials” covered every letter, note, or private diary, even when only the original document existed.

Thus happily expanded, what thought was there, whether merely in the mind, spoken aloud, or jotted down, which was not covered by Section 10?

Section 11 was a special one; it had no independent content of its own, but provided for an aggravating factor in any of the preceding ones: if the action was undertaken by an organization or if the criminal joined an organization.

In actual practice, the section was so broadened that no organization whatever was required. I myself experienced the subtle application of this section. Two of us had secretly exchanged thoughts—in other words we were the beginnings of an organization, in other words an organization!” [Pages 65-66]

From Chapter Two, “The History of Our Sewage Disposal System”, in The Gulag Archipelago, by Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

These drawings depict the life of the Soviet Gulag prisoners. Very cruel and gloomy… [and graphic!]

“If the intellectuals in the plays of Chekhov who spent all their time guessing what would happen in twenty, thirty, or forty years had been told that in forty years interrogation by torture would be practiced in Russia; that prisoners would have their skulls squeezed within iron rings; that a human being would be lowered into an acid bath; that they would be trussed up naked to be bitten by ants and bedbugs; that a ramrod heated over a primus stove would be thrust up their anal canal (the “secret brand”); that a man’s genitals would be slowly crushed beneath the toe of a jackboot; and that, in the luckiest possible circumstances, prisoners would be tortured by being kept from sleeping for a week, by thirst, and by being beaten to a bloody pulp, not one of Chekhov’s plays would have gotten to its end because all the heroes would have gone off to insane asylums.

…  What had been acceptable under Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich in the seventeenth century, what had already been regarded as barbarism under Peter the Great, what might have been used against ten or twenty people in all during the time of Biron in the mid-eighteenth century, what had already become totally impossible under Catherine the Great, was all being practiced during the flowering of the glorious twentieth century—in a society based on socialist principles, and at a time when airplanes were flying and the radio and talking films had already appeared—not by one scoundrel alone in one secret place only, but by tens of thousands of specially trained human beasts standing over millions of defenseless victims.” [Page 93]

“Thus it was that the conclusions of advanced Soviet jurisprudence, proceeding in a spiral, returned to barbaric or medieval standards. Like medieval torturers, our interrogators, prosecutors, and judges agreed to accept the confession of the accused as the chief proof of guilt.

[Compare the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States: “Nor shall [any person] be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.” Not be compelled! (The same thing appears in the seventeenth- century Bill of Rights.)] [Page 101]

From Chapter Three, “The Interrogation”, in The Gulag Archipelago, by Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

“What prompted them all to slip into harness and pursue so zealously not truth but totals of the processed and condemned? Because it was most comfortable for them not to be different from the others.” [Page 146] … By refusing to confess they menaced the interrogator’s personal standing. It was as though they wanted to bring him down. In such circumstances all measures were justified! If it’s to be war, then war it will be! We’ll ram the tube down your throat—swallow that salt water!….

Power is a poison well known for thousands of years. If only no one were ever to acquire material power over others! But to the human being who has faith in some force that holds dominion over all of us, and who is therefore conscious of his own limitations, power is not necessarily fatal. For those, however, who are unaware of any higher sphere, it is a deadly poison. For them there is no antidote.

Remember what Tolstoi said about power? Ivan Ilyich had accepted an official position which gave him authority to destroy any person he wanted to! All without exception were in his hands, and anyone, even the most important, could be brought before him as an accused. …  The consciousness of this power … constituted for Ivan Ilyich the chief interest and attraction of the service.

But attraction is not the right word—it is intoxication! [Pages 147-148]

Pride grows in the human heart like lard on a pig. [Page 163]

The Psychotherapist & Self Acceptance.

According to the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, there is a ‘dark side’ to all our personalities.

Think of anger, greed, fear and lust.

This ‘dark side’, or ‘shadow’, is usually hidden within our ‘subconscious’.

The ‘dark side’ or ‘shadow’ should not be seen as necessarily always ‘evil’.

For example, there would be no marriages or children without there being a little ‘lust’.

It is extreme or out-of-control lust that is evil.

If we get angry about injustice, that is no bad thing, so long as we remain rational and do not go berserk.

“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?

During the life of any heart this line keeps changing place; sometimes it is squeezed one way by exuberant evil and some- times it shifts to allow enough space for good to flourish. One and the same human being is, at various ages, under various circumstances, a totally different human being. At times he is close to being a devil, at times to sainthood. But his name doesn’t change, and to that name we ascribe the whole lot, good and evil.

Socrates taught us: Know thyself!” [Page 168]

“The imagination and the spiritual strength of Shakespeare’s evildoers stopped short at a dozen corpses. Because they had no ideology.

Ideology—that is what gives evildoing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination. That is the social theory which helps to make his acts seem good instead of bad in his own and others’ eyes, so that he won’t hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors. That was how the agents of the Inquisition fortified their wills: by invoking Christianity; the conquerors of foreign lands, by extolling the grandeur of their Motherland; the colonizers, by civilization; the Nazis, by race; and the Jacobins (early and late), by equality, brotherhood, and the happiness of future generations.

Thanks to ideology, the twentieth century was fated to experience evildoing on a scale calculated in the millions. This cannot be denied, nor passed over, nor suppressed. How, then, do we dare insist that evildoers do not exist? And who was it that destroyed these millions?” [Pages 173-174]

“Physics is aware of phenomena which occur only at threshold magnitudes, which do not exist at all until a certain threshold encoded by and known to nature has been crossed. …. Evidently evildoing also has a threshold magnitude. Yes, a human being hesitates and bobs back and forth between good and evil all his life. He slips, falls back, clambers up, repents, things begin to darken again. But just so long as the threshold of evildoing is not crossed, the possibility of returning remains, and he himself is still within reach of our hope. But when, through the density of evil actions, the result either of their own extreme degree or of the absoluteness of his power, he suddenly crosses that threshold, he has left humanity behind, and without, perhaps, the possibility of return.

From the most ancient times justice has been a two-part concept: virtue triumphs, and vice is punished.

We have been fortunate enough to live to a time when virtue, though it does not triumph, is nonetheless not always tormented by attack dogs. Beaten down, sickly, virtue has now been allowed to enter in all its tatters and sit in the corner, as long as it doesn’t raise its voice.

… if someone pipes up: “What about those who …” the answer comes from all sides, reproachfully and amicably at first: “What are you talking about, comrade! Why open old wounds?” ….  What kind of disastrous path lies ahead of us if we do not have the chance to purge ourselves of that putrefaction rotting inside our body? … “

“That is the ultimate height a trial can attain: when evil is so utterly condemned that even the criminal is revolted by it….

What are we to do? Someday our descendants will describe our several generations as generations of driveling do-nothings. First we submissively allowed them to massacre us by the millions, and then with devoted concern we tended the murderers in their prosperous old age….. We will not shoot them. We will not pour salt water into them, nor bury them in bedbugs, nor bridle them into a “swan dive,” nor keep them on sleepless “stand-up” for a week, nor kick them with jackboots, nor beat them with rubber truncheons, nor squeeze their skulls in iron rings, nor push them into a cell so that they lie atop one another like pieces of baggage—we will not do any of the things they did! But for the sake of our country and our children we have the duty to seek them all out and bring them all to trial!  …. We have to condemn publicly the very idea that some people have the right to repress others. In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future…..” [Pages 174-178]

Why Are Dozens Of High Ranking Officers Being Purged From The U.S. Military?

January 16th, 2014

Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s late father-in-law and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Vernon Jarrett, was a key member of the South Chicago communist left of the late 1940s.

After graduating from Knoxville College in Tennessee, Jarrett moved to Chicago in 1946 to work as a journalist. On his first day on the job at the radical Chicago Defender, he was sent to cover a race riot.

The Defender was heavily influenced by the Communist Party USA and included on its roster well known Chicago Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis.

Jarrett and Davis worked on the Defender around the same time. They certainly knew each other through the Communist Party and its fronts.

In June 1946, Vernon Jarrett was elected to the Illinois Council of the Communist Party’s youth wing, then known as American Youth for Democracy. This is according to Testimony of Walter S. Steele regarding Communist activities in the United States. Hearings before the Committee on Un-American Activities, House of Representatives, Eightieth Congress, first session, on H. R. 1884 and H. R. 2122, pages 75,76. It is the first hard evidence tying Vernon Jarrett directly to the Communist Party. Frank Marshall Davis, incidentally, was an official sponsor of American Youth for Democracy, along with confirmed communists Howard Fast, Langston Hughes, John Howard Lawson and Dirk Struik.

In April 1948, Frank Marshall Davis and Vernon Jarrett were working together as members of the publicity committee of the communist controlled Citizens’ Committee to Aid Packing-House Workers.×175.jpg

Besides Davis and Jarrett, communist officials of the strike committee included Oscar Brown (Treasurer) , Louise Patterson (Assistant Treasurer) and Ishmael Flory (food & groceries committee).

Later that year, Frank Marshall Davis left Chicago for Hawaii to work on the Honolulu Record, then edited and run by Communist Party member Koji Ariyoshi.

A member of the “Dixie Mission” to Yenan, the HQ of the Chinese communist forces in the 1940s, Ariyoshi spent nearly two years in China as an officer of an all-Nisei psychological warfare unit. The unit’s job was to direct propaganda against the Japanese civilians and troops in China at the time.

Immediately after the war, Ariyoshi worked New York City with accused “Amerasia” spy John S. Service and Ed Rohrbough – who would become business manager of the Honolulu Record, in an effort to steer U.S. policy towards the Chinese Communists and against the Nationalists.

Ariyoshi also worked the Committee for a Democratic Far Eastern Policy, whose board included two people later arrested during the famous “Amerasia” spy case, “Amerasia editors Philip J. Jaffe and Kate L. Mitchell.

Frank Marshall Davis was an active member of the Communist Party in Hawaii, even after it went formally underground in 1950, when he assumed chairmanship of a tiny cell known as Group #10. Later Davis joined in the infiltration of the Hawaii Democratic Party, serving in 1950, as Assistant Secretary and Delegate to the Territorial Democratic Convention in his Precinct Club – Third Precinct of the Fifth District.

Davis was also later observed by the FBI on several occasions photographing remote shorelines and beachfronts, possibly for intelligence purposes. The FBI continued to monitor Davis into the 1960s and he was placed on the “Security Index.” This meant Davis was marked for immediate arrest should war break out between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Valerie Jarrett “There Will Be Hell to Pay” for Obama’s Critics

November 18, 2012 – Activism – Tagged: FEMA, goldman sachs, government, new world order, obama, police state, wall street

An excerpt:

“Although allegations against Jarrett for having said the statements are sourced in multiple outlets, I can find no audio recording of the statements by Jarrett. Nor, can I locate an actual official transcript for these alleged threats against Americans who would dare not to support the President. However, in the theater of “actions speak louder than words,” it is highly likely that Jarrett did indeed utter these threats, given her extreme Communist leanings and her very un-American past.

Valerie Jarrett comes from a family which intermarried with the Bill Ayers family. Yes, that would be the Weathermen Underground terrorist leader, Bill Ayers. That would be the same Bill Ayers who told FBI informant, Larry Grathwohl, “that when we take over the United States, and that we will forcibly detain 50 million Americans in re-education camps in which they will probably have to murder 25 million American citizens who cannot be re-educated.” Grathwohl repeated the Ayers statement on the August 18th edition of The Common Sense Show. This is the same Valerie Jarrett family which was also involved with Frank Davis the former head of the Communist Party in the United States. This is the same Frank Davis who Joel Gilbert exposed as Obama’s real father. Additionally, the Jarrett family is also affiliated with other so-called “Red Diaper Babies” in which this young group of intellectual elites called for a communist takeover of the United States in the late 1960′s and early 1970′s. For those that know their history, you will remember that the same people engage in terrorist acts involving the detonation of explosive devices in which people died, including a San Francisco police officer. Bill Ayers wife, Bernardine Dorne served a prison term for her participation with this group. And we also know, that Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorne, close friends of Jarrett to this day, funded President Obama’s Harvard education. These facts have led many to believe that Valerie Jarrett is making the major decisions in the White House.”

“Here we can see the many types of association that may well have influenced Valerie Jarrett. One can also see the influence of Communism, of which her family seemed to be involved. Jarrett’s family also had direct links to Frank Marshal Davis, a mentor for Barack Obama who was on the FBI watch list due to his aggressive background in Communism. Her affiliation with Communism did not stop there because it seems that the man she married also had a family deeply rooted in the Communist ideology.

“In 1983 she married Dr. William Robert Jarrett, son of the Chicago Sun-Times reporter Vernon Jarrett. Vernon Jarrett was a pioneering black journalist who in the 1940s wrote columns for the communist-influenced Chicago Defender extolling Communist poet Langston Hughes and lifelong Stalinists W.E.B. DuBois and Paul Robeson. Also in the 1940s, Mr. Jarrett was a leader of the Chicago chapter of American Youth for Democracy—youth wing of the Communist Party USA. He also served on a publicity committee for the Packinghouse Workers Union, a Chicago-based entity dominated by the CPUSA. In each of these endeavors, Mr. Jarrett had close contact with Frank Marshall Davis.”

Here is the quote:

After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay.

It was this quote that prompted Beck to proclaim that America was on the verge of reaping God’s wrath … but where did it come from? The quote is posted on all sorts of conservative websites and blogs, but they all eventually link back to a blog called The Ulsterman Report.

And where did “Ulsterman” get this quote?  From an pseudonymous source he calls “Wall Street Insider” who claims to have received it from a source he supposedly has within the Obama campaign in Chicago:

Thought you would be very interested to hear of this. It appears this Jarrett creature is quite confident of a victory, and has every intention of making those who opposed her, and her boy, of paying dearly for their seeming crimes against them. As Election Day is nearly upon us, more and more are willing to speak outside the inner circle. Such is the case with this message received by me this morning from a source who has been working for us via Chicago for several months now. Their campaign appears increasingly confident, I assume, due to the now adoring media coverage of their boy’s little march with the commoners following this week’s storm. It has been a revolting display by some in our media has it not? Here then is the most recent report I received our Chicago source. I first passed it along to our mutual friend with no response, so now I pass it along to you in the hopes you deem it worthy to publish as its sharing will serve a related purpose with another I hope to secure a favor from in the very near future. And if you have any concerns regarding the source – don’t. They are being thoroughly protected despite their understandable trepidation. As you have been.

The “Wall Street Insider” then forwarded a message supposedly written by the mole inside the Obama campaign which contains the quote that so outraged Beck:

A rep from Jarrett office was in today. She gave us a finish line pep talk and then afterwards, heard her saying how Jarrett is very excited about a 2nd term agenda and a big part of that agenda is to punish everyone who opposed them during the first term and the campaign. Strange that everything was “Ms. Jarrett wants this, and Ms. Jarrett is looking forward to that”. You hardly heard Obama’s name mentioned by her which I guess reinforces what people are saying. Valerie Jarrett really is the power in the White House. I know that when her representative showed up it was like royalty was visiting. All the big dogs were lined up to meet her and acting real friendly and they gave us a heads up an hour before and told us we better “put on a good show” while she was here.

The part that really stuck out to me was when I overheard the rep say that Jarrett told them, “After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.” She was talking directly to about three of them. Sr. staff. And she wasn’t trying to be quiet about it at all. And they were all listening and shaking their heads and smiling while she said it. Pretty creepy.

Let’s get this straight: an anonymous source supposedly within the Obama campaign supposedly overheard a representative from Jarrett’s office make this statement and attributed it to Jarrett herself; it was then passed along to some pseudonymous source named “Wall Street Insider” who then forwarded it to The Ulsterman Report … and it eventually ended up on Glenn Beck’s radio program where the quote was treated as entirely legitimate and a sign that America deserves to be destroyed.

Wasn’t it just over a week ago when Beck said that someone who would so willingly and unapologetically lie to his audience must either “have deep psychological problems” or be totally insane?….”

US military hijacked by Israel since 9/11: Dr. Barrett

An excerpt:

President Barack Obama revealed today that he has not ruled out taking immediate and decisive military action in the United States Congress.

Admitting that diplomatic outreach efforts in the area have so far proven unsuccessful, the president claimed that his administration is weighing the feasibility of committing combat troops to both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives in order to bring lasting peace and stability to the chaos-afflicted legislature.

“We have not yet made a decision as to how we are going to address this rapidly deteriorating situation, but at this point I can tell you that military action is indeed on the table,” Obama told reporters at a morning press conference, emphasizing that he is “deeply troubled” by the escalating hostilities and diminishing prospects for unity on the Congressional floor. “Clearly, sending our young men and women into this tumultuous war zone is not ideal, and I still hope to resolve the situation through peaceful means. But as the conflict continues to worsen, it becomes increasingly evident that the deployment of our armed forces may be our only real option.”,34946/

America Is Plunging Into Kafka’s Nightmare

Wednesday, 15 January 2014 04:54 Brandon Smith

There is a certain level of dishonesty in the common study of history. We look back at the tyrannies of the past, the monstrous governments, the devastating wars and the unimaginable crimes, and we wonder how it could have been possible. How could the people of that particular generation let such atrocities come to pass? Why didn’t they do something? Why didn’t they protest? Why didn’t they fight back?

We wonder all of this as we absorb the lists of dates, names and actions in books written by other men who memorized other lists of dates, names and actions. We are taught to study and wonder without ever actually applying the lessons of the past to the developments of today. We are conditioned to assert our own narrow spin on yesterday, instead of placing ourselves in the shoes of our ancestors or recognizing that their struggles remain our struggles. The modern method of viewing history detaches us from it, making it seem distant, alien or surreal.

Perhaps many societies fail to prepare or act in the face of tyranny because they had forgotten their own histories, making the demise of their culture appear so schizophrenic they would not believe what their eyes were telling them.

Often, the only way to grasp the more complete truth of the present is to examine it through the lens of the absurd. Sadly, our Nation, our culture and most of the world around us have become so backward, ugly, feeble and twisted that the only adequate comparison is to the nightmares of surrealists.

When I examine recent U.S. legislation, the exposure of classified documents, and the openly admitted criminality of political leadership, I am consistently reminded of Franz Kafka’s The Trial.

Kafka was a self-styled socialist back in the days when socialism was thought to be the next revolutionary movement for the downtrodden masses. It was, of course, controlled opposition created by global elitists attempting to exploit the natural rebellious tendencies of the general public within a false paradigm — using the masses to achieve greater power for a select few, while making the people think that they had won. It is ironic that Kafka would write The Trial, one of the greatest condemnations of totalitarian surveillance society, while at the same time supporting the socialist political vehicle that would eventually be used to implement unrelenting bureaucratic despotism.

The Trial is commonly labeled a “surrealist” piece of fiction, but I wonder now if it was actually far more literal than the academics of the past actually gave it credit for. The problem is that most of America, and much of the Western world, has forgotten what it is like to experience true danger and true suffering. We read about it now and watch movies about it like it’s entertainment, but few people have the slightest inkling how to deal with the real thing. We don’t even know how to recognize it. Because of this, Americans tend to pay more attention to fictional representations of tyranny rather than legitimate tyranny taking place right under their noses.

With that sad fact in mind, watch this clip from Orson Welles’ cinematic version of The Trial. See if you recognize your own world in this work of “fantasy”: (8:41)

The main character of The Trial, Josef K., finds his apartment invaded by police in the early hours of the morning. Josef responds with anger but also fear, attempting to defend his character without actually understanding the nature of the police visit. The police answer his questions with more accusatory questions, only later warning him that he is being watched and that he is under arrest. The police do not, however, take him immediately into custody; nor do they ever tell him what his crime was. It is implied, in fact, that Josef is not allowed to know what he is being charged with.

This episode in The Trial has been played out in the real world over and over again, from the Soviet Cheka, to Adolf Hitler’s SS and Brownshirts, to Benito Mussolini’s Organization for Vigilance and Repression of Anti-Fascism (OVRA), to the German Stasi, to Mao Zedong’s Central Security Bureau, etc. In the United States, the culture of surveillance and intrusion has (for now) taken a more subtle approach through the use of technology. We do not yet have agents physically rummaging through all our homes and asking for our papers (though we are not far away from this). Rather, we have the National Security Agency, which rummages through our electronic communications while using our own computer cameras and cellphones to watch us, listen to us and track us. All of this, mind you, is done on a massive scale without warrant.

We have the Authorization for Use of Military Force and the National Defense Authorization Act, which give the President the centralized authority to detain and even kill those Americans designated as “enemy combatants” without trial, without due process and without public oversight.

Our government now uses secret evidence to charge citizens with crimes they are not allowed to discuss with the public on the argument that to do so would “threaten national security.” That’s right; the government can arrest you or assassinate you based on evidence they never have to disclose to you, your family, your lawyer or the citizenry.

In the U.S. today, the kind of establishment terror Kafka imagined is indeed a reality. We are not on the verge of a total surveillance state, we are there. It exists. And if we do not accept that this is our social condition, there may be no historians tomorrow to look back on our era and wonder: “Why didn’t they do something? Why didn’t they fight back?”

The revelations brought by Edward Snowden on the NSA and its PRISM mass surveillance program are still only partially understood by the public. Even many self-proclaimed “cypherpunks” and “techno-warriors” don’t really grasp the pervasiveness of the all-seeing NSA eye. Recent documents leaked to German news source Der Spiegel by Snowden reveal an Internet almost completely dominated by the NSA, where even total encryption would be a mere temporary stopgap, according to tech researcher and journalist Jacob Appelbaum. The TAO group, sanctioned by the NSA, has been using technologies for years that startle even the most avid tech experts. To make matters worse, many of the intrusive mechanisms have been implemented — likely with the direct aid of American software and computer companies.

With NSA access to the backbone or core of the Internet, there is no digital privacy anywhere. The cypherpunks lost the war for the Web a long time ago, and they don’t seem to know it yet.

Beyond the undeniable prevalence of government surveillance, what would our American Kafkaesque experience be like without kangaroo courts designed to defend the criminal establishment instead of the victimized population? The latest Federal court decision on the NSA’s methods is that they are perfectly legal and “necessary” to protect Americans from national security threats. If you are a student of Constitutional law, this decision truly boggles the mind.

One of the most powerful incidents in The Trial is Josef’s speech to his court of accusers. In this moment, Josef argues with concrete logic and impassioned reason. His position is supported with beautifully crafted merit and truth. But what he does not realize is that the court he is trying to convince does not exist to discover the truth. The court is a sideshow, a piece of elaborate theater. The participants are there to make Josef, and the society at large, feel as though justice has been given a fair chance. Josef’s pleas are met with fake cheers, scripted jeers and even engineered distractions. Finally, he comes to understand that the system’s purpose is to destroy him. Everything else is an illusion. (7:12)

The Web cannot be made free or private from within; our courts cannot be made fair and just from within; neither political party can be forced to represent the common man from within; and our government cannot be made honest or transparent from within. To play games of activism within establishment dominated systems is to play make-believe within a surrealist nightmare; a piece of “Alice in Wonderland” political quackery. Like the audience at Josef’s trial, the elites simply laugh at such activists, or feign applause, while continuing forever with the same corruption and the criminal status quo.

America has long presented itself as the ultimate alternative to the torturous mechanisms of oligarchs; and a long time ago, it was certainly a noble effort. However, our heritage of liberty — the faint memory of it — is all that’s left today.  There is a contingent of men and women in our country, millions of us, that steward over this memory and seek to make whole once again, but the road ahead is long, with struggles beyond all reckoning.

Some people may ask how this could have occurred. How did we become the monster we were supposed to fight against? What happened to the good side and the bad side? Have they become exactly the same?

Those of us who have looked beyond the standardized veil of history know that this is not by accident. Those of us who decipher the surreal know that there is a method to the madness and an ultimate goal. To explain further, I leave you with another piece of fiction, a clip from the British TV series “The Prisoner.” While not written by Kafka, it was definitely inspired by him. It carries a message I would have liked to have warned him about concerning the disturbing path of duality, the mask with multiple faces that tyranny uses to subvert and enslave… (0:57)

Some states look at reviving firing squads amid shortage of execution drugs

“One of the reasons I chose firing squad, as opposed to any other form of execution, is because frankly, it’s one of the cheapest for the state,” Burns, a Republican from Sheridan County, told The Associated Press this week.

Ask the Russian People About Gun Control, and the HOLODOMOR

Gun Control explained! (4:37)

Stalin’s Gun Control Methods Worked (4:25)

Are you a ‘Kulak?’

The New York Times LIED about the starvation that ‘Uncle Joe’ Stalin had enforced on the Ukraine…. surprised that the ‘paper of record’ told lies?

This holocaust was REAL and was called the ‘Holodomor,’ and around 10 million people were starved to death from 1932-33

Watch the following doc and see how many photo images have been ‘cribbed’ to appear in holocau$t fictions.

Holodomor (translation: murder by hunger)

This is a documentary production by Radio Quebec back in 1983 that discusses the forced Famine Genocide in Ukraine by Stalin and his henchmen. (28:19)

a documentary production by Radio Quebec back in 1983 that discusses the forced Famine Genocide in Ukraine by Stalin and his henchmen – ie: his generals at that time. The video is descriptive and includes a number of interviews of the survivers of this Holocaust.

Who was behind the ‘Man of Iron,’ Stalin?

Stalin’s Jews–We mustn’t forget that some of greatest murderers of modern times were Jewish

And us, the Jews? An Israeli student finishes high school without ever hearing the name “Genrikh Yagoda,” the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century, the GPU’s deputy commander and the founder and commander of the NKVD. Yagoda diligently implemented Stalin’s collectivization orders and is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 million people. His Jewish deputies established and managed the Gulag system.

Can’t find any ‘Holodomor Museums’ in the USA, but this racket has over 150 museums and centers in the USA.

Mind Control in the 21st Century—Science Fiction & Beyond

… by  Steven DiBasio

An excerpt:

As Joseph P. Farrell’s reports in his book Saucers, Swastikas, and Psyops, Rich made a number of peculiar and provocative comments at the end of his career, and following his retirement on December 31, 1990 (prior to his death five years later), comments strongly hinting at “the development of … an off-the-books physics and technology….”[50]

For example, on September 7, 1988, in a presentation to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Atlanta, Georgia, Rich lamented that he was prohibited from discussing Skunkwork’s current projects, but he did say that they “call for technologies once only dreamed of by science fiction writers.”[51]

In ensuing years, Rich elaborated slightly. For instance, while speaking to the UCLA School of Engineering Alumni Association in 1993, Rich said that “an error in the equations” had been discovered and corrected, making it possible “to travel to the stars.”[52] He added, however, that “these technologies are so locked up in black programs, that it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity.”[53]

DARPA Funds Development of EEG Headset That You Can Print at Home

January 13th, 2014

Via: Wired:

Conor Russomanno and Joel Murphy have a dream: They want to create an open-source brain scanner that you can print out at home, strap onto your head, and hook straight into your brainwaves.

This past week, they printed their first headset prototype on a 3-D printer, and WIRED has the first photos.

Bootstrapped with a little funding help from DARPA — the research arm of the Department of Defense — the device is known as OpenBCI. It includes sensors and a mini-computer that plugs into sensors on a black skull-grabbing piece of plastic called the “Spider Claw 3000,” which you print out on a 3-D printer. Put it all together, and it operates as a low-cost electroencephalography (EEG) brainwave scanner that connects to your PC.

Lasers Unearth Lost ‘Agropolis’ of New England

Soulskill posted yesterday | from sciencehabit

sciencehabit writes “Hidden ruins are customary in the wild jungles of South America or on the white shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Now, researchers haveuncovered a long-lost culture closer to Western civilization — in New England. Using aerial surveys created by LiDAR, a laser-guided mapping technique, the team detected the barely perceptible remnants of a former ‘agropolis’ around three rural New England towns (abstract). Near Ashford, Connecticut, a vast network of roads offset by stone walls came to light underneath a canopy of oak and spruce trees. More than half of the town has become reforested since 1870, according to historical documents, exemplifying the extent of the rural flight that marked the late 1800s. Some structures were less than 2 feet high and buried in inaccessible portions of the forest, making them essentially invisible to on-the-ground cartography.”

The Hunger Games Leads To A Revival Of Archery Clubs

cold fjord writes | 2 days ago

cold fjord writes “The Local reports, “The aesthetic and mental appeal of archery has been transmitted to a new generation of archers, part of an upswing that the Stockholm Archery Club said became very clear when the first of The Hunger Games trilogy made it to the Swedish silver screen in 2012. The tale of Katniss Everdeen, who teaches herself to hunt to feed her family in a poor and repressed district of a repressive state, sees the strong young woman turn her archery skills into survival gear when she is threwn into the arena with other children. Swedish teenage girls now make up most of the club’s new membership, which has reached roughly 150 archers. While the sport has previously been a bit of a “lad’s dominion” (gubbvälde), treasurer Kicki Priklonsky said that many girls have what it takes to excel at the sport. … Across Sweden, membership figures in the clubs were up by 20 percent in 2013 compared to the year prior. Young teens made up the bulk of new recruits, and of them, the majority have been girls. “”

Living in the Darkness, Dying in the Light

The “local” cable channel,, recently ran a show co-aired and co-produced by its nearest neighbor just over the border in Salem, NH about an interesting “attraction” on the hill near the border.  Called “Around Town”; it featured an interview with the aptly-named Dennis Stone, the second-generation owner of the 100-acre plot (most yet unsurveyed or archaelogically “mapped”) that is known as Mystery Hill, or America’s Stonehenge, and the history of megalithic sites throughout the Americas and the rest of the world.

See for its world-wide interactive data base, a forum, and more. [The “what’s new” section of recently-added items even notes a discussion about canine toilet habits and the theory that they turn to align themselves with the compass before their owner coverges with a baggie.] (scroll down)

“You Must Take Responsibility”

Music video: (5:50)

While waiting for the HVAC crew to show up again (success, this time!), it was a day of movies as the contractors moved in and out, up and down.  (There was also the second half of “Patriot” and the second half of the well-worn-out and still great “Witness”, the lessons at Cowpens about farmers/hayseeds with pitchforks and that which great cinematic line by the Danny Glover “killer cop” character as he stepped through the gate on the Lapp farm into the cowpen and right into a cow pattie (“Shit!”).

I also watched –from beginning to end –the widely-unknown movie Transsiberian, a crime, drama, mystery (and character study) that’s better than Hitchcock, superbly-acted in parts, with great plot (lots of twists), a surprise ending, and very good script-writing and dialogue.

There clearly was a touch of synchronicity in that I was reading The Gulag Archipelago recently, and the movie had a character who did time there.

Transsiberian is a 2008 SpanishGermanBritishLithuanian thriller film, set on the Trans-Siberian Railway, in which an American couple’s journey from China to Russia becomes a nightmare after they befriend a pair of fellow travellers.

It was directed by Brad Anderson and stars Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley. Filming began in December 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania, with additional photography in Beijing and Russia. The film premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival in January 2008, followed by a series of other international film festivals. It had a limited USA release on 18 July 2008, followed by limited cinema releases in a few more countries, before moving over to the DVD and TV market.

The film has received highly positive reviews. It has a 91 percent “fresh” rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times praised the film, saying it builds “true fear and suspense”.

Roy: Hold on there Ilya, don’t tell me that you miss the USSR? I mean the USSR was a dark evil empire.

Grinko: Maybe so. But then we were people living in the darkness, now we are people dying in the light. Which is better?

Grinko: In Russia, we have expression. “With lies, you may go ahead in the world, but you may never go back.”

If I go much deeper, I’ll spoil the viewing experience, but there are other sources easily found online that will tell you more, including the trailer, the Wikipedia entry, lots of reviews and interviews with key people in the film (actors, director, et al), as well as documentary videos on the real train ride experience, etc.

I’ll be looking for the DVD.

Wayne Madsen at work

Two from Wayne MadsenReports, with the added note that the timing is late because of the required 48-hour embargo and my own illness.

See especially the added little wrinkle at the end:

Article By Wayne Madsen  Written July 4th 2008

U.S. ambassadors, special envoys, and their staffs represent America in over 200 countries, territories, and international organizations around the globe. WMR’s exhaustive investigation of the activities of U.S. diplomatic officials in Southeast Asia has uncovered evidence that senior U.S. embassy officials have covered up a huge pedophile ring involving State Department and CIA employees. Private U.S. businessmen close to various embassy operations are also implicated in the scandal. Some U.S. diplomats have, themselves, engaged in sex with underage boys and girls in the countries where they are assigned.

The story about official U.S. government involvement with pedophiles in Southeast Asia was prompted by the strange case of John Mark Karr, an American schoolteacher charged with previous child pornography crimes in the United States. After Karr jumped bail in the United States before his trial on kiddie porn charges, he surfaced in various countries known as havens for pedophiles – Costa Rica, the Netherlands, Honduras, South Korea, and finally, Thailand. In Thailand, Karr ended up teaching affluent Thai and foreign children at three elite international schools in Bangkok.

While Karr, who publicly claimed to have murdered 6-year old Jon Benet Ramsey in 1996 in Boulder, Colorado, may not be all that newsworthy in Thailand – foreign pedophiles in Thailand are as common as the hot weather, according to New York Times best selling author Jerry Hopkins, an American who has lived in Thailand for the last thirteen years – Karr’s unusual special treatment by the U.S. embassy in Bangkok is very unusual. In fact, it is practically unprecedented. The question is why?

After Karr was arrested by Thai police on what was reported to be “unspecified sex charges” unrelated to the Ramsey matter, the U.S. embassy, and particularly the large CIA station in Bangkok and the 16-person Department of Homeland Security contingent located in rented office space adjacent to the huge embassy compound, arranged for Karr’s hasty departure from Thailand to face charges in the Ramsey murder case. Karr was flown, un-handcuffed and sipping champagne, in business class from Bangkok to Los Angeles on Thai International Airways, courtesy of the American taxpayer. Again, why?

The last time an oddball like Karr received such special treatment and a courtesy airplane ticket courtesy of Uncle Sam was when Lee Harvey Oswald, an alleged Marxist defector to the Soviet Union, was flown back to the United States along with his Soviet wife and daughter.

Karr, according to several informed sources in Asia, including former Japan Times weekly magazine editor Yoichi Shimatsu, who lives part time in Thailand, and Robert Finnegan, former editor of Indonesia’s English-language Jakarta Post, was more than a mere publicity-seeking pedophile preying on young children – he fit the classic profile of a procurer of children for others – a business that leads directly to the very embassy that accorded him VIP treatment on his departure from Thailand. Both journalists have extensively investigated the scourge of pedophiles in Southeast Asia. And both have been singled out for attack by pedophile interests, operating through various front operations in the region, including anti-pedophile non-government organizations.

For a California schoolteacher, arrested in April 2001 for possession of child pornography, losing his teaching license, and vanishing into thin air after serving six months in a California jail, Karr led a charmed life in an upscale neighborhood of Bangkok.

After Boulder, Colorado authorities determined that Karr lied about killing Ramsey, Sonoma County, California prosecutors discovered that the computer containing the child pornography images for which Karr was originally arrested in April 2001 was missing. As a result, all criminal charges from that case were dropped against Karr.

End of story? Not quite. Karr, a known pedophile charged by Thai police for sex charges unrelated to the Ramsey case, now walks a free man. Spirited out of Thailand by the U.S. embassy on a business class ticket, Karr represents the tip of a pedophile iceberg operating within the bowels of America’s diplomatic and foreign business communities in Asia.

Although a number of media outlets painted Karr as a bottom-feeding child predator living in low rent, dingy, and cockroach-infested guest houses in Bangkok, WMR’s investigation found something quite different.

One Internet posting by an individual named Joshua Kurlantzick stated that Karr lived near a red-light district frequented by “crowds of sixty-something men leading preteen boys and girls by the hand in the street, often taking them back to the Malaysia Hotel, a seedy joint full of child prostitutes and drug dealers.” That description of Karr’s neighborhood, which was embellished to paint the schoolteacher as living in “a building, a grim collection of one-room studio apartments with water-stained walls” was a notso-clever ruse to place Karr in a hooker-infested neighborhood full of child prostitute pimps and druggies. In fact, WMR visited Karr’s neighborhood and guest houses in Bangkok and found his surroundings to be an oasis of European diplomatic and cultural missions, including the Danish and Austrian embassies, the German-Thai Cultural Center and Goethe Institute, and most intriguingly, the Joint U.S.-Thai Military Assistance Group (JUSTMAG)., a highly-secured compound where U.S. Special Operations personnel operate, along with their Thai counterparts, against various Southeast Asian insurgent groups., including the Al Qaeda affiliate, Jemaah Islamiya.

Karr’s supposed “water-stained walls” hotel – The Blooms – is a clean and comfortable place attracting arriving diplomats on per diem expenses and European tourists.

The Malaysia Hotel, far from being a nest for pedophiles and drug dealers – is a typical European package holiday hotel with a swimming pool and tourist bar and restaurant. The Indian staff is strict and would not tolerate the presence of pushers and pimps anywhere near the premises.

The perception management campaign by the foreign media in Thailand to paint Karr as a filthy degenerate living in squalid conditions was not bought by the Thai media. It was not pimps and drug dealers with whom Karr rubbed shoulders but diplomats and members of the U.S. military. The Thai media had witnessed a similar propaganda effort directed against an American four years earlier.

Perhaps it was the foreign media’s portrayal of Karr that prompted a top Thai police official, speaking at a press conference after the arrest of the Jon Benet Ramsey murder suspect, responded the way he did to a question about the appearance of the arrested man. Pointing to one of the reporters in the conference room, the police official said, “He looks like him!” The startled reporter was a member of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Bangkok. Although he was innocent, the police official got his point across about the foreign media coverage of Thailand matters.

Sean Parlaman was a zealous protector of children against pedophile exploitation in Thailand and neighboring Myanmar (Burma). Parlaman, a Quaker, Green Party activist, and black belt karate expert from Oregon, concentrated his anti-pedophile activities in Pattaya Beach, Thailand, a largely run down ex-haunt for U.S. military personnel on rest and relaxation tours from Vietnam during the war.

After the war, Pattaya had become a favored destination for pedophiles. Awash in drugs, prostitutes, money launderers, and smugglers, Pattaya also attracted pre-teen children, whose poor parents, guardians, and pimps were more than eager to sell children to lecherous child predators on holiday in the Thai seaside resort town.

Parlaman took on Pattaya’s pedophile “axis of evil” with the vigor one might expect of a modern-day Rambo.

Particularly critical of certain anti-pedophile groups and NGOs in Thailand, Parlaman believed that some were covering up the pedophilia problem rather than dealing with it aggressively. Parlaman was also opposed to the attempts by such organizations to push for a tourist boycott of Thailand until it dealt with the child prostitution problem. The call for a boycott came at the same time Thailand’s economy collapsed. Parlaman and his supporters – mostly Thais but a few foreigners — believed that such a boycott would only drive more and more poor children into the hands of pimps and predators.

Parlaman also took on the smuggling of children from the Thai-Burmese border into Thailand and beyond for purposes of prostitution. In 1997, Parlaman wrote, “At an age when we would regard them as still being children, over a thousand young girls from northern Thailand are being lured every year into prostitution. Girls as young as 10 are being sold to the brothels of Bangkok, other Thai cities and overseas.”

Parlaman described the process by which young girls were forced from northern Thailand Into the prostitution business: “In some villages in northern Thailand up to 60 to 70 percent of young girls, aged from 11 years up, have entered prostitution. While many had been sold by their parents, others had been introduced to the sex industry through an older sibling or relative  . . . Local leaders, including some village headman, police and government officials are involved in the recruitment and transportation of girls from the [northern Thailand-Burma  border] area, to work in the sex industry throughout Thailand.”

After Parlaman took on the pedophiles and their apologists in Thailand’s foreign community, he began to face a cruel and well-coordinated retaliation. He was by various NGOs and foreign community web sites in Thailand accused of lying about his resume.

Parlaman’s crusade against pedophiles and their enablers eventually landed him in hot water with his enemies – enemies that included corrupt police and the growing Russian Mafia in the resort town. Those who take on the pedophiles in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia are at extreme danger. A Swiss volunteer social worker in northern Thailand’s Chiang Mai, Ralph Frishknect, was falsely accused of molesting children at a center for homeless children, after he had informed a number of donors of the misappropriation by the center. The charges against Frishknect were never made public and he was later found hanging in his jail cell after news filtered out that local police were in on leveling the false charges.

On September 30, 2002, Parlaman was accused by Thai police with sexually molesting a 12-year old boy who was staying at one of the street kids’ organizations that Parlaman felt was part of the problem and not the solution. Parlaman  tried to get children out of such dodgy organizations and into reputable groups actually dedicated to helping street children who were plagues by the twin evils of drug abuse and prostitution. No reputable person familiar with Parlaman’s work and dedication believed the story about his being a molester, including the reporters and editors of the Pattaya Mail newspaper.

A long-time resident of Pattaya told the paper that he told Parlaman, “If you  think that these organizations have no connection with the police and the  places you’re trying take them out of then you are naïve.” The first judicial hearing went bad for the prosecution. Evidence was non-existent and there were reports that the witnesses had been pressured into false statements by law enforcement.

In the end, Parlaman was only guilty of naivety. When police arrived at Parlaman’s Star Beach Condominium on November 23, 2002, to take him to the police station for questioning, Parlaman, meeting them in the lobby, told the police he had to go upstairs to give his car and condo keys to a friend for safekeeping. Police later claimed that Parlaman jumped from his 15th floor condo unit to his death. Police stopped the investigation of the child abuse.

Parlaman’s body was transported to the police forensics institute in Bangkok where it was autopsied and then cremated. The U.S. embassy never intervened in the highly improper procedure for a U.S. citizen.

David W. Smith, one of Parlaman’s colleagues in child welfare work in Thailand, wrote in a letter to the editor of the Pattaya Mail: “I must admit I didn’t know Sean very well outside of a  dozen conversations or so, but when I heard that he had been accused of  pedophilia, I thought no. Sure he’s a bit different, perhaps somewhat of a  Don Quixote if you will, but surely not a pedophile  . . . The evidence against him would seem flimsy at best, and the manner in which it was orchestrated laughable. If he was indeed the monster he was being accused of, why is it that none of the hardened, drug addicted kids in the jails that knew him well, gave him up when offered freedom in return for their damnation? Perhaps no one will ever know the real truth but in typical manner just before his death, Sean wished that none of these terrible circumstances impair or harm the programs or the good work he dedicated himself so fervently towards.”

The fascination of high-level U.S. officials in taboo underage sex is not new. In fact, the American fascination for Thai children in a sexual sense is as old as the CIA itself.

After World War II, Princeton alum Jim Thompson, a former director of New York’s Monte Carlo Ballet Company and an Army officer with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the wartime forerunner of the CIA, was stationed in Bangkok as the senior American spy. After being trained in jungle warfare in Ceylon, Thompson’s hitch in Thailand began as Japan was surrendering its forces throughout Asia. Thompson left the Army and Thailand but returned to the country, strangely coming up with the funds to start up a major silk business (left) in Thailand.

Thompson became a part owner of Bangkok’s plush Oriental Hotel. After Thompson’s wife, Pat Thraves Thompson, paid him a visit in Bangkok, she quickly returned to the United States and filed for divorce. His silk business a success, Thompson built a luxurious Thai-style home in Bangkok and, after a lucky date was chosen by Thai astrologers, he moved into the home in 1959. A number of old Bangkok hands, many veterans of the Vietnam War and long serving journalists in the region, upon visiting the Thompson house, come way with the same impression. Not only is the multi-building residence a typical CIA safe house but the presence of small beds for children and porcelain “piss pots” for little boys and various Southeast Asian objets d’arts featuring frolicking young males in pools and sculptures of young men and their pronounced cod pieces, suggest the Thompson house was more than just a gathering place for spies and the scene for Thompson’s entertaining of such notables as Truman Capote and Somerset Maugham. Visitors to the home are prohibited from photographing the suggestive art pieces.

On March 26, 1967, as the Vietnam War was heating up, Thompson mysteriously disappeared while visiting the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia. Thompson vanished without a trace.

Although the CIA denied that Thompson was still on its payroll, the agency dispatched U.S. helicopters to search for Thompson in the Malaysian jungles. When a rumor surfaced that Thompson may have been kidnapped by Communists and spirited into Cambodia, the CIA’s Air America conducted a search for him in Cambodia, with no success. Thai authorities conducted a thorough search of Thompson’s Bangkok estate and carted off what has been described by witnesses as potentially incriminating evidence.

Suspiciously, after Thompson’s disappearance, a sister of Thompson’s was found bludgeoned to death in her home and her son, Thompson’s nephew, committed suicide shortly thereafter. Both had been made part of Thompson’s will before his disappearance and their deaths.

Thompson’s friend, a fellow OSS veteran, Alexander MacDonald, founded Thailand’s majorEnglish-language newspaper, The Bangkok Post. (above) It, like its counterpart across Thailand’s eastern border, the Cambodia Daily, would come to downplay the scourge of pedophilia in Southeast Asia.

Thompson was not the first American in Thailand to show an odd fascination for young Asian male and female youth. The Vietnam War brought to Thailand an eclectic group of Special Forces types, European mercenary veterans of Malayan and Congolese civil wars, and CIA agents of various stripes, some of whom decided to engage in carnal activities with barely clad underage teens – youngsters they once saw gracing the pages of National Geographic.

After the war, expatriate American drunkards, druggies, pederasts, and killers produced by

the Vietnam morass found haven in small bars in red light districts of Bangkok and Pattaya Beach. One such bar is the Madrid in the Patpong District of Bangkok. One long-time employee recalled some of the most famous and infamous veterans of America’s secret wars in Laos and Cambodia. She recalled such names as CIA agent Jack Shirley, (far left) Golden Triangle middleman Richard Armitage(above) (who she referred to as “Dick”), and various CIA officers stationed at the U.S. embassy in Bangkok.

It is against this backdrop, starting with Jim Thompson and extending through the Vietnam War and its aftermath that we must view the current quasi-toleration by the State Department and CIA for pedophile activity by U.S. diplomats and spies assigned to the region.

Just as pedophile John Mark Karr preyed upon elementary schools, other pedophiles targeted orphanages in Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand and Cambodia. Orphanages, to varying degrees of success, have been able to defend themselves against the pursuits of pedophiles. One orphanage, with which Sean Parlaman worked closely, was the Pattaya Orphanage founded by Redemptorist Order Roman Catholic priest, Father Ray Brennan, a native of a tough Irish neighborhood in Chicago. Brennan and Parlaman also cooperated on assisting Pattaya’s many street children.

As with his late colleague Sean Parlaman, Father Ray found himself besieged by allegations that his orphanage, over which he led for 33 years, had been used by pedophiles to take children for “day trips.” The allegations were contained in an unsigned article in the January 26, 2003 edition of the British weekly tabloid, The People, and picked up by one Thai newspaper, The Nation. The People is owned by Trinity Mirror, which also owns the Daily Mirror. The article alleged that Brennan arranged for liaisons between wealthy pedophile clients and the orphans in his care. It is apparent that, as with Parlaman, Brennan was being subjected to a crude character assassination by an alleged terminally ill UK Lottery winner who went by the name Robert Merlin. Brennan agreed to meet Merlin, who indicated that he was prepared to make a large donation to the orphanage.

The People wrote that Brennan, “Invited wealthy pedophiles to meet children in his care, allow them to take [the children] on picnics at the beach and public park, as well discuss the best places to  pick up young boys.”

Brennan told the Pattaya Mail that Merlin’s request for a meeting was “a provocation and manipulation,” adding, “I agreed to meet him because he asked to come here …  He wanted to come and give a donation of 1.8 million pounds (to the orphanage), so I invited him so come . . . we had a one-hour conversation, during which Mr.  Merlin asked me many questions. It was at that time we discussed the pedophile situation in Pattaya. I was uncomfortable with the conversation.  He took bits and pieces of the conversation and turned them to serve his purpose.”

At a press conference in Pattaya, Brennan stated, “I have never been involved in, or, arranged any pedophilic rendezvous during my whole life. I condemn  pedophiles, totally.”

Even the commander of the tainted Thai Tourist Police in Pattaya expressed sympathy for Brennan. Police Major General Sanit Miphan said, “The orphanage has been operating for over thirty years and if there has been any impropriety, it would have closed long ago.” Just as It questioned the set up of Parlaman, the Pattaya Mail came to the defense of Father Brennan. The managing editor of the paper, Pratheep Malhotra, said the attack on Father Brennan was an “issue of foreign freelance, fly by night reporters writing sensationalist stories destroying the image of Thailand just to sell a story.”

Father Ray closed his press conference by stating, “I’m not bothered about being hurt, I’m 70 years old and probably don’t have long to live, but the orphanage does and these kids do, too.”

Father Ray’s words were prophetic. He died on August 16, 2003. A longtime colleague told WMR that Father Ray died a broken man.  The Independent Catholic News wrote in its obituary of Brennan, “Anyone who works with children is vulnerable to attack. Father Ray was no exception. But his integrity was unimpeachable, and his detractors never succeeded in denting the confidence of his colleagues, of his many supporters or, most importantly, of the children he loved and cared for.” Although hardly a peep was heard from the U.S. embassy in Bangkok, the Thai King sent ceremonial soil, almost exclusively reserved for royal burials, to be used during at Father Ray’s funeral in Pattaya. The contrast in what the U.S. embassy did for known pedophile John Mark Karr and what it did not do for either Sean Parlaman and Father Ray Brennan speaks volumes as to the involvement of the U.S. State Department and CIA in promoting, not stamping out, pedophilia in Southeast Asia.

A later investigation by the London-based Pattaya Orphanage Trust found that there was no evidence to support The People’s allegations against Brennan.

Although Parlaman and Brennan represent the best in American volunteerism in Southeast Asia on behalf of orphans and preyed-upon street children, according to Yoichi Shimatsu and the NGO Global – PAC, the same cannot be said of two Americans who became involved in child welfare programs in neighboring Cambodia.

Genuine anti-pedophile activists have decried the positions of papers like the Bangkok Post on pedophilia issues. Hahn Chin, a Bangkok-based activist, wrote in early 2005 that the paper unrealistically highlighted the successes of a Thailand-based NGO called End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking in Children for Sexual Purposes or “ECPAT.”

Hahn Chin contended on his web site that “ECPAT was created for cosmetic purposes” and that it “remained a virtually unknown NGO that did little more than peddle literature about itself and pedophilia through the offices of the International Catholic Child Bureau (ICCB), a worldwide organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, and send representatives to meetings and conventions.” In addition, Hahn Chin maintained that ECPAT is just one organization that colludes with [child] traffickers and complicit officials,” including Thai police and foreign embassies in Thailand. Others accused of connivance in the sexual trafficking of Thai and other Southeast Asian children include United Nations organizations.

In an August 8, 2005 letter to the Bangkok Post, Samakh Siphonphat of Bangkok wrote, “the current UN High Commissioner for Human Rights [Louise Arbour of Canada] and her two predecessors [Mary Robinson of Ireland and Vieira de Mello of Brazil] ignored at least 50 documented cases of Thai women and children who were trafficked abroad (beyond Southeast Asia) for pedophilia or prostitution and disappeared in the past ten years. This is largely because officials of national governments and so-called “non-governmental organizations” (‘NGOs’) were complicit. Indeed, dozens of persons in the Bangkok offices of ‘NGO,’ like the UN International Labor Organization (ILO) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), use their positions to traffic in women and children.”

A case in point of the complicity of the foreign media in promoting pedophilia is found in Cambodia.

As with Father Brennan in Pattaya Beach, Phaly Nuon and her husband, Hem Soeurn (left), have dedicated their lives to helping orphans. In the aftermath of Cambodia’s civil war, which resulted in the horrendous “Killing Fields,” established outside of Phnom Penh the Future Light Orphanage (FLO) with 91 repatriated Cambodian orphans from refugee camps in Thailand. They began the orphanage with the money they were awarded for their work by the Figaro Foundation of France.

It was not long, however, that FLO attracted the same type of bad actors that harassed Father Brennan in Thailand. These included two supposed do-gooders who funneled money to FLO: Cambodia Daily publisher Bernard Krisher(Middle of below photo), a longtime American journalist who once worked for

Newsweek and UPI in Tokyo, and Nicholas Negroponte (below), the director of MIT’s Media Lab and the brother of John Negroponte, the death squad commandante as U.S. ambassador to Honduras during Iran-Contra, ambassador to the UN and U.S.-occupied Iraq, the first Director of National Intelligence, and Deputy Secretary of State.

After Yoichi Shimatsu, two New Zealanders – Gerald Thorns and Jack Sanders, and Cambodian Deputy Minister of Commerce Narith Chhim formed the anti-pedophile group Global-PAC, they immediately came in for criticism from Krisher’s Cambodia Daily, rumored to have been started with seed money from the CIA.

Global PAC was looking into reports that FLO, located minutes from Phnom Penh International Airport, was being used by its major financiers, Krisher and Negroponte, for questionable activities involving minors.

In response, the Cambodia Daily launched an investigation of Global PAC. WMR has obtained a copy of a May 2004 e-mail sent by the Cambodia Daily’s Luke Reynolds to Shimatsu, insinuating that Global PAC was funded by intelligence agencies:

“This may seem an annoyance, but can you detail for me what you do for Global PAC exactly? How did you get to know Mr. Sanders, Mr. Thorns, and the like? Also, given
the group’s members’ background, do you think they might have difficulty establishing credibility? To skeptics, Gpac [sic] raises red flags galore: no clear funding source, no clear methods, members with alleged histories of working in covert ops, and it goes on and on. You’re aware of all this I’m sure. Does Gpac [sic] have a future in Cambodia? You should know, and probably do already, that certain people are likely tapping in to all my email correspondence. Thanks for your response regardless.”

To say that Krisher and Negroponte were worried about a new and aggressive anti-pedophilia group in Cambodia would be an understatement. In fact, there was nothing mysterious about Global PAC. At its debut in Tokyo in 2004, it issued the following press release:

“Global PAC was founded five years because our founding members noticed that there were certain sinister groups getting involved in flood relief to North Korea, in the guise of helping the children of North Korea. We noticed that a group calling itself the “Korean Peace Foundation for Children” was backed by accused pedophile Michael Jackson. And there were other groups purporting to assist the flood victims, these groups were run by other prominent false philanthropists who wanted to get a foot in the door and take advantage of North Korean children. They were looking for orphans especially and hoping to do deals with the North Korean Government in order to secure a pipeline of children that could be shipped out of North Korea to order, for international clients, including organized pedophile and organ trafficking groups. These people were of course, pro sunshine policy because it suited their own perverted needs at the time.”

When Global PAC began to make an impact internationally, there was yet another e-mail from Reynolds to Shimatsu: “saw you quoted in a Reuters story. How did that come

Eventually, the Cambodia Daily’s inquiries about Global PAC concentrated on other subjects after Shimatsu sent the following e-mail to Reynolds:

“I encouraged him [Jack Sanders] to take on the issue, knowing the strength of the clandestine network of child pimps in the diplomatic corps, and other arms of the establishment. Out of sheer luck, coincidence, wavelength, whatever you might call it, some high-level Cambodian officials simply lit up when Jack merely mentioned the
pedophile issue, and with this sort of approval, an NGO aiming for the elimination of child prostitution in Cambodia was born.”

Eventually, when the pressure on Krisher and Negroponte reached a near boiling point, they withdrew their funding from FLO, practically leaving 221 orphans up to the age of 18 to fend for themselves financially. On a visit to FLO, director Phaly Nuon told this reporter that while there was never a problem with the girls at the orphanage, some of the boys had been lured away from the compound to do things like “watch TV.” She also indicated that under the financial regime of Krisher and Negroponte, some visitors to the orphanage behaved “badly.”

There was one more brief interest by Krisher’s paper in Global PAC after they announced they were looking into child sex tours by Western VIPs in Sihanoukville, the site of a rumored U.S. Naval Base on Cambodia’s coast. Inj January 2005, the Cambodia Daily’s William Shaw sent Shimatsu a probing e-mail about this subject:

“VIP pedophile suspects in Sihanoukville? That’s quite something. I was down there recently and visited Blue Mountain as well as the red light district in the port to see what was going on. We heard that heard some of the children  had been moved there from Svay Pak. However, many of the Blue Mt. brothels appeared closed and there were no immediate signs of child prostitution around the port. I heard there is a secret network of motodops catering to child sex tourists, but again this appeared very low key, if it was happening at all. As for VIPs. . . Perhaps they’d have good connections and methods to
cover their tracks. How are Global PAC tracking them down, and what kind of
VIPs? Government or diplomat or NGO types?”

A few days later there was another probing e-mail from Shaw to Shimatsu concerning VIP pedophiles: “Are the VIP pedophiles being tracked linked in any way to the luxury hotels around town?”

Shimatsu’s reply: “VIPs but not in the ville [Sihanoukville], but in Phnom. Not brothel
related and not public or commercial. Suspects in very powerful positions, so the game is a matter of time and slip ups or even invites, difficult as they are to obtain. Agreed, it has gone very low key, much has moved, but I hear even a lot has left former sites in Vietnam.”

There would be one more e-mail to Global PAC, in December 2005, from Samantha Melamed of the Cambodia, one snooping for information about the shipment of prostitutes to convicted GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s and former GOP House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s favorite Pacific island, Saipan:

“I am writing from the Cambodia Daily newspaper seeking information about reports that Vietnamese women who were trafficked to Cambodia and forced into prostitution are now being resettled on the US island territory Saipan. I was wondering if Global PAC is involved in this project?”

Meanwhile, to this day, young children continue to walk Phnom Penh’s streets hawking Krisher’s Cambodia Daily for $4 a copy. Negroponte continues to run schools in Preah Vihear near the Lao border. And Cambodia continues to be plagues by foreign pedophile predators. In June 2006, retired Marine Corps Captain Michael Pepe (left) was arrested by Cambodian police and charged with sexually molesting four girls aged nine to twelve. Pepe paid between $1 and $5 to the children in return for sex. While on assignment for this article in Phnom Penh, this writer witnessed a similar deal, involving a $1 down payment, to the handler of a seven-year old girl by a sixty-something Western sex tourist.

The linkage between the FLO scandal and the brother of a top State Department official is part of a pattern of similar malfeasance among the U.S. diplomatic corps in the region as we shall soon examine in greater detail.

As for FLO, it seems to have largely weathered the storm. Its director has been honored with further awards, most notably the Ramon Magsaysay Award from the Philippines, and the orphanage has become a patron project of Cambodia’s Queen Mother Monineath (Monique), the wife of longtime Cambodian leader Norodom Sihanouk.

The United States, which has constructed a new $150 million embassy taking up an entire square block in downtown Phnom Penh, never intervened when questions arose about the questionable activities of at least two well-known U.S. citizens at FLO. As we will see, the U.S. embassies in the region, far from being involved in stopping the exploitation of children, are actively involved in it.

The U.S. embassy in Bangkok is the second largest in the Far East (after Tokyo). Its CIA station is also rumored by many intelligence observers in Bangkok to be the second largest in Asia, after Tokyo. However, the U.S. embassy in Bangkok has another distinction – it is at the center of the State Department’s pedophile activities in Asia.

According to former editors Shimatsu and Finnegan, the pedophilia activity has centered around Ambassador Ralph (“Skip”) Boyce, (below) the current U.S. ambassador to Thailand and the former ambassador to Indonesia. Boyce, who speaks fluent Thai, has spent much of his Foreign Service career in Southeast Asia. Before his stint in Indonesia, Boyce was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific. He was Political Counselor Bangkok from 1988 to 1992, had a brief stint as Charge d’Affairs in Singapore from 1992 to 1994 and he returned to Bangkok as Deputy Chief of Mission from 1994 to 1988.

In 1995, while Boyce served as the number two man at the Bangkok embassy, a scandal engulfed the U.S. mission. The Consular Services section of the embassy conspired with Thai police and pedophiles in Belgium, Thailand, and the United States to prevent a Thai boy from being sent from Thailand to Belgium, a noted haven for pedophiles. Thai government officials issued an order on behalf of the child’s American godfather to keep the youngster in Thailand. The boy’s Lao mother, a barmaid, was part of a ring of pedophiles in Pattaya Beach and Antwerp, Belgium. Amid protests, the woman transported the boy to Belgium.

Boyce ignored repeated warnings about the misconduct of his embassy’s Consular Affairs office. Boyce and his key staffers, including Consul General Thomas P. Furey and American Citizens Services chief Christopher Richard, later blocked a Thai police investigation of the matter.

Three successive American ambassadors to Thailand – William Itoh, Richard Hecklinger, and Darryl Johnson, refused to get involved in the case. Only Itoh officially responded to a letter asking for his intervention, however, he did not take any action.

Boyce has, time and time again, shown himself to be conducting his own foreign policy. Although the State Department has a full-time ambassador-at-large who deals with child trafficking matters, Boyce has been content to allow the problem to flourish at the embassies to which he has been assigned, not only in Bangkok but also in Jakarta. Although the Bush administration condemned the September 2006 Thai military coup, dubbed the “Silken Coup,” Boyce wears a yellow tie to affirm his support for the Royal Family, which authorized the coup. He has also refused to condemn the Burmese military junta, although that policy runs counter to official U.S. policy. Boyce has also pushed the interests of American tobacco and alcohol companies even though the Thai government is discouraging the use of both, especially among the young.

Former Jakarta Post editor Finnegan is well aware of Boyce’s modus operandi. He believes that John Mark Karr was a typical intelligence cut out for the embassy in Bangkok, one whose major job for the embassy was to procure underage children for sex with visiting VIPs and senior diplomats. Because Karr was smart enough to spread out incriminating evidence he had of embassy involvement, they had no other choice but to extricate him from Thailand when he ran afoul of the local authorities.

It was under the protection of the U.S. embassy that Karr was spirited out of Thailand on a business class Thai International Airways flight to the United States, where all charges, those involving Jon Benet Ramsey and the Sonoma Couty kiddie porn charges, were dropped. One of the Bangkok embassy individuals who was cited in news reports as being involved in Karr’s extrication, Ann Hurst who heads the Department of Homeland Security office adjacent to the sprawling embassy compound, refused to return WMR’s phone calls requesting comment. According to published news reports, Hurst was assisted in Karr’s extrication by the CIA station at the embassy.

Finnegan had seen it before. He said when he was at the Jakarta Post, he became aware that Boyce, while ambassador, used two procurers of child prostitutes and sex slaves. They were both Indonesian nationals, one was a CIA asset operating as a businessman and the other a local journalist operating under cover on behalf of the CIA. Finnegan says that State Department pedophiles operate under the “deniability cover” of being diplomats with immunity from prosecution. Finnegan claims these individuals are often promoted and transferred to other embassies in the Southeast Asia region. The CIA uses them to gather incriminating trash on other embassy personnel that is used to blackmail them, sort of insurance policy for the pedophile rings.

Finnegan said that when he began to write about Boyce’s malfeasance in Jakarta, the U.S. embassy’s security officer threatened him on the grounds of the U.S. embassy. Eventually, Boyce had Finnegan’s journalist visa pulled and he was forced to return to the United States with his Indonesian wife.

State Department sources with whom WMR spoke confirm what Finnegan says about diplomat-pedophiles being transferred around Southeast Asia. They cite one example of a U.S. diplomat in Phnom Penh, Cambodia who was openly living with two underage boys – one Cambodian and the other Lao. After being transferred to the U.S. embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, his “secret” was discovered by the strict Muslim government. He was summarily declared persona non grata. He now serves at the American embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a hornets’ nest for pedophiles operating bordellos filled with child prostitutes.

Under Boyce’s tenure in Bangkok as ambassador, the sordid activities of highly placed American child sex procurers has continued unabated. According to a higher education source in Thailand, one such American procurer who worked for an American university in Thailand and who was eventually forced out of the country, procured young boys for orgies, many of them pre-teen children mostly from the Muslim south. He had worked for an American university in Malaysia. The procurer drove young boys in a station wagon from the south of the country to Bangkok for parties with his friends and important American clients. The sites of these orgies were kept secret.

U.S. diplomats assigned to Thailand still talk about the story of a newly arrived Deputy Chief of Mission who was curious as to why the barely legal houseboys at his official residence were lining up at the foot of the stairs before he retired for the evening. Upon asking about the odd custom, he was informed by other embassy personnel that his predecessor required to boys to line up in order for him to select his bed partner for the evening.

Shimatsu confirms that procurers like Karr and other American pedophiles in Southeast Asia are often pornographers, producing still photos or videos or both, which are then used to train boys in homosexual practices; arouse their lust for homosexual sex with adults; and to entertain visiting dignitaries and embassy staff at orgies.

There is one even more sordid footnote to the story about pedophiles in Southeast Asia. According to relief workers who went to southern Thailand’s Phuket region after the catastrophic December 26, 2004 tsunami that struck the coastal areas of the Indian Ocean, the Swedish media was warned by relief workers about the possibility of child abductions. Almost 100 children younger than 13 were among 565 missing in the aftermath of the disaster. The Swedish National Police compounded the problem by keeping a list of the dead and missing secret citing “privacy concerns.” In February 2005, a Swedish court ordered the list of the victims and the missing made public. The coastal areas of Thailand traditionally make their income by smuggling and human trafficking, in addition to tourism and fishing.

Indonesian police reported that a number of orphaned and separated Indonesian children were moved from Aceh province to other parts of Indonesia and Malaysia for trafficking purposes.

The alarm about abductions became clear when a Swedish boy named Kristian Walker was escorted out of a hospital by a German man who was not his father. Although the German man returned the child, a disturbing anomaly was noted by relief workers who were identifying bodies through dental records and DNA. Although a number of Swedish adults and young girls were identified, the bodies of a number of Swedish boys were never recovered, heightening speculation that they had been snagged by abductors and sold into the white slave trade. Young blond boys are highly prized in places like India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The story of John Mark Karr’s amazing extrication from Thailand courtesy of Uncle Sam was not an anomaly. Karr, as with other American pedophiles operating under diplomatic cover, educators, or businessmen in Southeast Asia have been treated to a charmed existence thanks to the patronage they receive from the U.S. diplomatic communities. Nor is U.S. involvement in such heinous activities a new phenomenon.

From Jim Thompson, to CIA and Special Forces operating in the region during the Indochina War, and more recently with America pronouncing itself the world’s only superpower, the hegemonic nature of American foreign policy has permitted sexual vermin like pedophiles to operate in the clear.

The news media has been equally culpable in not exposing high level U.S. government in pedophilia in Southeast Asia. Part of it stems from their willingness to look the other way in return for access to top government officials. The other is more basic in nature. One U.S. diplomat had the following to say about this writer while on the story in Thailand and Cambodia, “you ask questions about that shit and you might wind up with your dick cut off and stuck in your mouth.” Another longtime journalist in the region commented that it is dangerous covering the pedophilia story, especially in Cambodia. Shimatsu concurred, saying, “reporters asking too many questions about pedophiles in Southeast Asia are likely to end up with a bullet in their head.” Finnegan said the story about official sanctioning of pedophilia is muted partly because Southeast Asia is “geographically removed from the prying eyes of most U.S. journalists  . . .  and there are not many that would tackle this.”

There certainly is a trail of bodies of activists in Southeast Asia who did try and expose the nature of Asia’s Pedogate scandal. And the U.S. State Department continues to provide coverage for America’s most despicable representatives abroad.

December 31, 2013-January 1, 2014 — Bandar Bush follows through with threat against Russia

The chief of Saudi intelligence, Prince Bandar bib Sultan al Saud, affectionately known as “Bandar Bush” by members of the narco-terrorist and political assassination Bush family and a prime architect of the 9/11 attack, offered Russian President Vladimir Putin a deal in Moscow earlier this year.

Bandar’s offer was simple: In return for Russia abandoning its long-time ally, Syrian President Bashar al Assad, along with Syria’s Alawites, Christians, Shi’as, and Kurds to human organ-eating Salafist zombies financed by billionaire Saudi princes, Saudi Arabia would ensure that there would be no Islamist terrorist attacks on the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Putin told Bandar his offer was an outrage and ended the meeting.

Bandar followed through with his threat. Suicide bombers linked to Islamist terrorist groups active in the Caucasus region and funded by Saudi Wahhabist clerical “bagmen” have struck the city of Volgograd. Wahhabist groups based in Chechnya and Dagestan, aided and abetted by the CIA and its William Casey-initiated front organization, the Jamestown Foundation, were linked to not only the Volgograd attacks but also to the Boston Marathon bombing earlier this year. Russian warnings to the FBI about the terrorist groups prior to the Boston bombing were unheeded and ignored.

Bandar’s threat first manifested itself at the Volgograd-1 station on Sunday morning on December 29. Seventeen people were killed when a suicide bomber carried out his deadly task. On Monday morning, December 30, “Bandar’s Bandoleros” struck again. A bomb tore through a crowded trolley bus in Volgograd’s Dzerzhinsky district, killing 14 people. Scores of others were severely injured in the two blasts.

In 2011, this editor predicted on RT that Russia would be faced with increasing terrorism as a result of its hosting of the Winter Olympics and World Cup in 2014 (see below). I also laid blame for this at the doorstep of Western intelligence agencies which have been promoting the interests of predominantly Muslim “hidden nations” in the Caucasus. What happened in Volgograd not only has links to Riyadh and Jeddah but also to Langley, Virginia and London. The latter serves as a major base of operations for Chechen “government-in-exile” leaders who have been linked to terrorist groups, all under the caring embrace of Britain’s MI-6 and its Moscow station.

The George Soros propaganda network also supports the Wahhabist brigands of the Caucasus. It is noteworthy that Slovakia, one of the many eastern European countries that have fallen under the control of Soros/CIA propagandists, gave asylum to three Chinese Muslim Uighurs just as the human remains were being picked up from the streets of Volgograd.

The attacks in Volgograd came as Uighur militants launched attacks against Chinese targets in Xinjiang in western China. A recent Uighur terrorist blast in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, just a few hundred yards from where China’s top leadership was holding a meeting, is a message from Bandar, the CIA, the MI6, Soros, and other neo-Cold Warriors that Volgograd, Beijing, Kyiv, and other cities not acquiescing to the New World Order are all fair game for death and mayhem.
