Biological Warfare

{Twice updated below]

“I don’t agree with the idea that Ebola was created to attack anyone…..” Mike Rivero

“the process of [military] transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like
a new Pearl Harbor ...
… advanced forms of biological warfare that can “target” specific genotypes may transform
biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool.

So, Mike, there’s been no involvement of the US military in Africa?

No specific role relative to Ebola?

Have you read The-Last-Circle-Danny-Casolaro-s-Investigation-into-the-Octopus-and-the-PROMIS-Software-Scandal? (now available for free at that link in Scribd when you subscribe)

Are you aware that the author did some research in the 1990’s on related subjects such as bio-warfare and bio-terrorism and surviving an outbreak? You can read something she wrote about lab-created viruses on bio-terrorism at these websites:

It relates to the information on page 168 of “The Last Circle” and other research with theories advanced by many others that the AIDS virus was manufactured in secretive US facilities, theories and investigative research such as those  advanced by Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz in Idaho (Tetrahedron LLC), or in the book Dr. Mary’s Monkey [], recently updated and revised with more confirmatory information.

So do we take the Scientific American and the NIH as honest brokers of scientific information, or have they been taken hostage in the major effort to ‘weaponize’ science as a means of hijacking political power and control?

You’ve made out Scenario 2 to be too hard, it’s EASY.

Just put a bit of thought into it:

One terrorist goes to Africa, licks an infected persons blood or two. Returns to America the same day, which is around 5 days before symptoms show.

He lays low in a hotel room somewhere – and becomes very ill.

He has a few friends he contacts by mobile phone, he’s terribly ill now – a virus incubation machine – he contains 8 pints of highly infective blood.

They too are sworn to giving their lives for the cause – they draw his blood – the hardest part of this mission by far! If no syringes are available, a brave swipe at a wrist should do the trick.

The blood is bright red, and highly noticeable – so they use a publicly purchasable Bretta Filter to remove the red blood cells – and are left with highly infectious almost clear/yellow blood plasma.

This they decant into a couple of dozen small (150ml?) spray bottles, such as “Ickle Bockles” from Amazon.

They put a few bottles into their pockets, and keep one in their hand – discreetly, perhaps they have long coat sleeves to hide the bottle even better.

The terrorists head off to different cities – and plan to spray as many public surfaces as they can in the 5 days before they get ill.

Using Wiki to find the biggest cities by population:

One heads to New York, one goes to Los Angeles, one to Chicago, one to Huston… and so on.

They head for the public places.

They spray their bottles on Taxi door handles,

Elevator buttons in a huge skyscraper.

Door handles of public buildings (libraries, cinema, restaurants, shops)

Handles on subway cars.

Those little straps you hold on to while in the subway cars.

Fast food door handles.

Public phone headsets and keypads.

Newspaper/Cigarette/Drink vending machine buttons.

Cross-walk buttons.

Escalator handrails.

The locks in toilets of fast food restaurants, and on the flusher.

On shoes displayed in a shoe shop.

On money.

He’ll infect himself, but he’s got a good 7 days to really well cover a city, and he too is at peace with death, so it doesn’t worry him.

Even if he’s caught by someone… perhaps spraying the elevator buttons “What are you DOING!?”, he’d say:

“I’m disinfecting these surfaces! I’m very phobic of germs!”, he could even put it in a hand-sanitizer spray bottle for added beliveability… hold it up to them, smile embarrassedly.

How many surfaces could he infect in 1 week of health?

How many people would he infect, hundreds at least? Thousands?

That ISN’T a small scale terrorist attack – it would be huge – and simple.

Has Sarah been employed to scare the bejeebers out of the subway riders, or has she outlined a scenario cooked up in a government lab somewhere?

Do you understand how easy it is to flip the coin to the other side when you are involved in after-action-reporting?

PROmis software, with its infamous back door and its ability to read, capture and translate virtually any information from any known data base, and which was originally developed with grant monies from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (LEAA) during the Meese/Reagan era, was made widely available to covert intelligence operations of foreign governments such as Canada, Israel (Rafi Eitan), Singapore, Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan and is likely a major tool for the covert theft of proprietary intellectual knowledge; its  history involved Hadron whose chief scientists was Ken Alibek, formerly of Biopreparat in Russia.

“A document, which is in the meantime classified again ,> synopsis.doc revealed, that one of Hadrons presidents, George W. Tonn was involved in a meeting with ” Carl Byer (Original Sim). John Illgen (Illgen Simulation Technologies, Inc.). George Tonn (EADTB-Raytheon). George Kralovek (Boeing Sales / AF DMT Program Sales)..” (AF DMT Program =Air Flight Distributed Missions Training) Illgen Simulation(> ) works since years on interactive simulations on computer-generated Air Bases.

George Tonn, another Hadron-director was former director of Raytheon’s Director of the Advanced Battle Management Systems. He worked with Hughes Aircraft (acquired by Raytheon), Saic and IBM Federal Systems. In 1983 Dominic Laiti, Chairman of HADRON, INC. wanted to buy Inslaw Corp (distributor of spy program PROMIS). On June 14th, 2001, one week before the BioTerror Exercise, Operation DarkWinter took place (June 22-23, 2001, Andrews AFB, Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies), Hadron announced that the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command “has awarded a Hadron subsidiary, Advanced Biosystems, Inc., a $1.7 million increase in the total amount of its existing one-year contract to develop new medical defenses for anthrax. Hadron was awarded the original $2.6 million contract in March 2001.”

[Johns Hopkins is closely affiliated with Skull and Bones, according to the NIH itself .]

Dark Winter simulated a complex smallpox biowarfare scenario. In this “Dark Wintersimulation, 16,000 people in the United States would have contracted smallpox within two weeks. Among the observers, participants and exercise staff of Dark Winter had been members of Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies, ANSER Institute for Homeland Security, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, FBI, House Armed Services Committee, CSIS, Oklahoma City National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc. Corporate America’s Deadliest Secret

The Big Profits in Biowarfare Research

A number of major pharmaceutical corporations and biotech firms are concealing the nature of the biological warfare research work they are doing for the U.S. government.

Since their funding comes from the National Institutes of Health, the recipients are obligated under NIH guidelines to make their activities public. Not disclosing their ops raises the suspicion they may be engaged in forbidden kinds of germ warfare research.

According to the Sunshine Project, a nonprofit arms control watchdog operating out of Austin, Texas, among corporations holding back information about their activities are:

Abbott Laboratories, BASF Plant Science, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DuPont Central Research and Development, Eli Lilly Corp., Embrex, GlaxoSmithKline, Hoffman-LaRoche, Merck & Co., Monsanto, Pfizer Inc., Schering-Plough Research Institute, and Syngenta Corp. of Switzerland.

In case you didn’t know it, the White House since 9/11 has called for spending $44-billion on biological warfare research, a sum unprecedented in world history, and an obliging Congress has authorized it.

Thus, some of the deadliest pathogens known to humankind are being rekindled in hundreds of labs in pharmaceutical houses, university biology departments, and on military bases.

An international convention the U.S. signed forbids it to stockpile, manufacture or use biological weapons. But if the U.S. won’t say what’s going down in those laboratories other countries are going to assume the worst and a biowarfare arms race will be on, if it isn’t already.

Sunshine says failure to disclose operations also puts corporate employees involved in this work at risk. Only 8,500, or 16%, of the 52,000 workers employed at the top 20 U.S. biotech firms work at an NIH guidelines-compliant company, Sunshine says.

Francis Boyle, an international law authority at the University of Illinois, Champaign, says pursuant to national strategy directives adopted by Bush in 2002, the Pentagon “is now gearing up to fight and win’ biological warfare without prior public knowledge and review.” Boyle said the Pentagon’s Chemical and Biological Defense Program was revised in 2003 to endorse “first-use” strike in war. Boyle said the program includes Red Teaming, which he described as “plotting, planning, and scheming how to use biowarfare.”

Besides the big pharmaceutical houses, the biowarfare buildup is getting an enthusiastic response from academia, which sees new funds flowing from Washington’s horn of plenty. “American universities have a long history of willingly permitting their research agenda, researchers, institutes and laboratories to be co-opted, corrupted, and perverted by the Pentagon and the CIA,” Boyle says.

What’s more, the Bush administration is pouring billions in biowarfare research while some very real killers, such as influenza, are not being cured.

In 2006, the NIH got $120 million to combat influenza, which kills about 36,000 Americans annually but it got $1.76 billion for biodefense, much of it spent to research anthrax. How many people has anthrax killed lately? Well, let’s see, there were those five people killed in the mysterious attacks on Congress of October, 2001 — attacks that suspiciously emanated from a government laboratory at Fort Detrick, Md.

One would think the FBI might apprehend the perpetrator whose attack shut down the Congress of the United States but nearly six years have gone by and it hasn’t caught anybody. Seem a bit odd to you? Some folks suspect the anthrax attack was an inside job to panic the country into a huge biowarfare buildup to “protect” America from “terrorists.”

Milton Leitenberg, of the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, though, says the risk of terrorists and nonstate actors using biological agents against the U.S. “has been systematically and deliberately exaggerated” by administration scare-mongering.

And molecular biologist Jonathan King of Massachusetts Institute of Technology says, “the Bush administration launched a major program which threatens to put the health of our people at far greater risk than the hazard to which they claimed to have been responding.” King added President Bush’s policies “do not increase the security of the American people” but “bring new risk to our population of the most appalling kind.”

In the absence of any credible foreign threat, Sunshine’s Hammond said, “Our biowarfare research is defending ourselves from ourselves. It’s a dog chasing its tail.” Sadly, it looks more and more every day like a mad dog.

I dug into my archives for the rest….

“While everyone knows of the Rockefeller control of oil, most are not know the extent of Rockefeller wealth and influence over modern medicine and drugs. [Source noted at the end]

According to Eustace Mullins, the last surviving protégé of the famous 20th century intellectual and writer Ezra Pound, an author of the 1988 book Murder by Injection: the story of the medical conspiracy against America, [see the 200-page book in pdf format here: ], the drug industry is controlled by a Rockefeller “medical monopoly,” largely through directors of pharmaceutical boards representing Chase Bank, Standard Oil, and other Rockefeller entities. “The American College of Surgeons maintains a monopolistic control of hospitals through her powerful hospital survey committee, with members [such as] Winthrop Aldrich and David McAlpine Pyle representing the Rockefeller control,” he wrote.

Winthrop Aldrich also served on the committee on the cost of medical care (cc MC), which was originated by Dr. Alexander Lambert, the personal physician to Teddy Roosevelt and a president of the AMA. According to Dr. Charles C Smith, who research the activities of the committee: “[Dr. Lambert] obviously was to be the needed “figurehead.” Other notable choices were Winthrop Aldrich, president of Chase National Bank; John Frey, secretary-treasurer, AFL; William T Foster, director of the Pollock foundation in economic research; Bolan West, M.D., executive secretary, AMA; and 15 physicians +2 dentists in private practice. Five physicians from public health were chosen, and the director of research for the Milbank Memorial fund. Representatives from insurance, hospital, nursing, pharmacy sources were appointed… They numbered 49 in all. The full-time staff was headed by Harry H Moore of Washington, who in 1927 published “American medicine and the people’s health” while a member of the Public Health Service. His main tenets were the need for a system to distribute medical care and insurance plan to pay for it.”

Smith noted that a minority of the committee recommended, among other things, the government competition in the practice of medicine be discontinued and that corporate medicine finance through intermediary agencies, such as health maintenance organizations (HMO), should be opposed, because they fail to provide high quality healthcare and exploit the medical profession. These recommendations were not followed. “The tenor of the [CMC]’s report was such that one can read into it the seeds of everything that led to the health care system we have today… so at last we find ourselves, as always, in a healthcare crisis,” Dr. Smith wrote in 1984. This health care crisis continues today.

Rockefeller control over the medical establishment also was exercised through the Rockefeller sanitary commission and the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, at one time headed by Dr. Detlev Brock, already named as a suspected member of MJ-12. “Rockefeller’s General Education Board has spent more than $100 million to gain control of the nation’s medical schools and turn our physicians to physicians of the allopathic school, dedicated to surgery and the heavy use of drugs,” commented Mullins.

Mullins also pointed to the knotty connections of Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK), the second largest pharmaceutical company in the world after Pfizer. The history of the big farm giant can also serve as an example of the consolidation of drug companies in recent years.

Burroughs Wellcome and Company was founded in London in 1880, two American pharmacists, and Henry Wellcome and Silas Burroughs after the postwar acquisition of other companies, including Meyer Laboratories, Glaxo moved its facilities to the United States. Burroughs Wellcome and Glaxo, Incorporated merged in 1995. The new name of the company was Glaxo Wellcome.

In 1830, John K Smith opened his first pharmacy in Philadelphia. Over the years, Smith, Kline and Company merged with the French, Richard and Company, and changed his name to SmithKline and French laboratories in 1929. By 1969, the firm had spread its business worldwide and purchased seven additional laboratories in Canada and United States. In 1982, it merged with Beckman Incorporated, becoming Smith-Klein Beckman. With the 1988 purchase of its biggest competitor, international clinical laboratories, SmithKline Boeckman grew by 50%. The latest merger took place with Glaxo Wellcome in 2000, and the firm became Glaxo Smith Kline.

According to Eustace Mullins, the original Burroughs Wellcome drug firm was wholly owned by Wellcome Trust, whose director was the British Lord Oliver Franks. “Franks was ambassador to the United States from 1948 to 1952,” Mullins wrote. “He [also was] a director of the Rockefeller Foundation, as its principal representative in England. He also was a director of the Schroeder Bank, which handled Hitler’s personal bank account; director of the Rhodes Trust in charge of approving Rhodes scholarships; visiting professor at the University of Chicago; and chairman of Lloyd’s Bank, one of England’s Big Five.”

Recalling the John D Rockefeller’s father, William “Big Bill” Rockefeller, once tried to sell unrefined petroleum as a cancer cure, Mullins, who spent more than 30 years researching the “Rockefeller medical monopoly,” commented, “This carnival medicine show barker would hardly have envisioned that his descendants would control the greatest and most profitable medical monopoly in recorded history.”

Mullins reported that I.G. Farben and the drug companies it controlled in the United States through the Rockefeller interests were responsible for the suppression of effective drugs until a monopoly could be established. For example, from 1908 to 1936, far been withheld its discovery of sulfanilamide, and early sulfa drug, until the firm had signed working agreements with the important drug firms of Switzerland, Sandoz and Ciba-Geigy. In one of the largest corporate mergers in history, these two firms joined in 1996 to form Novartis.

It has been previously detailed how the support of globalists and transplanted European fascists helped put the Reagan-Bush team into power in 1980. Against this background, it is instructive to look at one the many controversial drugs now being used by millions of Americans– aspartame , an additive sugar substitute found in most diet soft drinks and more than 5000 foods, drugs, and medicines. Aspartame is found in most sugar substitutes, such as NutraSweet, Equal, Metamucil, and Canderel.

…. Aspartame releases free methanol that breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. One quart of an aspartame-added beverage is estimated to contain about 56 mg of methanol. Dr. Louis J. Elsas explained to the U.S. Senate committee on labor and human resources: “I am a pediatrician, a professor of pediatrics at Emory, and I spent 25 years in the biomedical sciences, trying to prevent mental retardation and birth defects caused by excess phenylalanine … have considerable concern for the increased dissemination in consumption of the sweetener aspartame– l-methyl-N-L-a-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine [ ]– in our world food supply. This artificial dipeptide is hydrolyzed by the intestinal tract to produce L-phenylalanine [ , which in excess is a known neurotoxin.” Countering claims the laboratory tests indicated little harm from small amounts of aspartame, Dr. Elsas noted, “normal humans do not metabolize phenylalanine as efficiently as do lower species, such as rodents, and thus most of their previous studies in aspartame effects on rats are irrelevant to the question.”

Before 1980, the Federal Drug Administration had refused to approve the use of aspartame. FDA toxicologist Dr. Adrian Gross testified to Congress that aspartame caused tumors and brain cancer in lab animals and, therefore, violated the Delaney Amendment that forbids putting anything in food that is known to cause cancer. Aspartame also was blamed for the increase in diabetes as it not only can precipitate the disease but also stimulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, which, when interacting with insulin, can cause diabetics to go into convulsions.

Dr. Betty Martini works in the medical field for 22 years. She was the founder of Mission Possible International, working with doctors around the world in an effort to remove aspartame from food, drinks, and medicine. She gave this account of how pharmaceutical interests overcame claims of public welfare:

Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle, that conglomerate that manufactured aspartame. For 16 years the FDA refused to approve it, not only because it’s not safe but because they wanted the company indicted for fraud. Both US prosecutors hired on with the defense team and the statute of limitations expired. They were sent Sam Skinner and William Conlon. Skinner went on to become secretary of transportation, squelching the cries of the pilots who were now having seizures on this seizure-triggering drug, aspartame, and then Chief of Staff under President Bush’s father. Some of these people reached high places. Even Supreme Justice Clarence Thomas is a former Monsanto attorney. (Monsanto bought Searle in 1985, and sold a few years ago.) When [John] Ashcroft became Atty. Gen. [in 2001, Larry] Thompson from King and Spalding attorneys (another former Monsanto attorney) became deputy under Ashcroft. However, the FDA still refused to allow NutraSweet on the market. It is a deadly neurotoxic drug masquerading as an additive. It interacts with all antidepressants, L-Dopa, Coumadin, hormones, insulin, all cardiac medication, and many others. It … interacts with vaccines, other toxins, other unsafe sweeteners, like Splenda that has a chlorinated base like DDT and can cause autoimmune disease. It has a synergistic and additive effect with MSG. Both being excitotoxins, BS bardic acid in aspartame, and MSG, the glutamate, people were found using aspartame as the placebo for MSG studies, even before was approved. The FDA has known this for quarter of a century and done nothing even though it’s against the law. Searle went on to build a NutraSweet factory and had $9 million worth of inventory. Donald Rumsfeld was on Pres. Reagan’s transition team and the day after [Reagan] took office he appointed an FDA commissioner who would approve aspartame.”

Searle salesperson Patty Wood-Allott claims that in 1981 Rumsfeld told company employees “he would call in all his markers and that no matter what, he would see to it that aspartame be approved this year.”

Dr. Martini noted: “the FDA set up a board of inquiry of the best scientists they had to offer, who said aspartame is not safe and causes brain tumors, and the petition for approval is hereby revoked. The new FDA Commissioner, Arthur Hull Hayes, overruled that board of inquiry and then went to work for the PR agency of the manufacturer, Burston-Marstellar [interestingly, the same PR firm which coached the testimony of the Kuwaiti princess that helped precipitate Desert Storm], rumored at $1000 a day, and has refused to talk to the press ever since. There were three congressional hearings because of the outcry of the people being poisoned. Sen. Orin Hatch refused to allow hearings for a long time. The first hearing was in 1985, and Sen. Hatch and others were paid by Monsanto. So the bill by Sen. [Howard] Metzenbaum never got out of committee. This bill would’ve put a moratorium on aspartame, and had the NIH do independent studies on the problems being seen in the population, interaction with drugs, seizures, what it does to the fetus, and even behavioral problems in children. This is due to the depletion of serotonin caused by the phenylalanine in aspartame.” [Note as well that one of the effects of the popular street drug used at raves, MDMA (or 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), known colloquially as Ecstasy, is the depletion of serotonin.]

Reagan’s FDA Commissioner Hayes initially approved aspartame only as a powdered additive but in 1983, just before he left his position, he approved the additive for all carbonated beverages.

Attempting to study or report on aspartame is a thankless task for the mainstream academics. Dr. Janet Starr Hull, and OSHA-certified environmental hazards-waste urgency-response specialist and toxicologist, in 1991 was diagnosed with incurable Graves’ disease (a defect in the immunization system that leads to hyperthyroidism) only to learn through our own research that she had been poisoned by aspartame. She stated: “many scientists at prestigious American universities will tell you they cannot get grants for continued research on aspartame or Splenda, or their department heads have been told to drop all discussions on the topic. Some will say aspartame research isn’t worth the effort because they cannot get published in American scientific journals. Others claim the research centers constructed by the large corporations, such as Duke University’s Searle Research Center, were designed with managed research as a construction proviso.”

Illustrating the battle between experts in regard to aspartame was the 2005 research by Dr. Marando Soffriti, scientific director of the European Ramazzini foundation of oncology and environmental sciences in Bologna, Italy. Soffriti Conducted a three-year study on 1800 rats and concluded that aspartame is a multi-potential carcinogen. His work was peer-reviewed by seven world experts, and April 2007, Dr. so Freddie received the third Irving J. Selikoff Award from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he presented a more recent study that confirmed the cancer-causing potential of aspartame at even small doses.

He noted that only a small amount of aspartame can trigger cancer, and babies of mothers who ingested aspartame could grow up to contract cancer. Other research conducted in Spain, such as the “Barcelona report” by the staff of the biology department at the University of Barcelona, confirmed that aspartame transformed into formaldehyde in the bodies of living laboratory specimens and spread throughout vital organs. These studies, largely unreported in the US media, confirmed aspartame use carcinogenicity in laboratory rats.

In 2006, media reports spoke of a “new study” that countered surfer these research. This study was not new. It was actually conducted in the mid-1990s and reported that researchers could find no link between aspartame and cancer, according to Unhee Lim, Ph.D., a researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Lim and colleagues worked with 473,984 men and women between the ages of 50 and 71 who participated in this diet-and-health study. In 1995 and 1996, participants were asked how much they drank of popular diet beverages–soda, fruit drinks, and iced tea. They were also asked if they added aspartame to their coffee and tea. From their answers, the researchers calculated how much aspartame they consumed on a daily basis. During the next five years, 1972 of those studied developed lymphoma or leukemia, and 364 developed brain tumors. When the researchers looked at people who consumed an average of at least 400 mg of aspartame a day–about the amount found in two cans of soda–they found no link between aspartame consumption and cancer.

Critics noted that this study was subject to “recall bias,” since those in the study were being asked to remember what and how much they drank. “If their recollections were accurate, it compromises the findings,” said Michael F Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a consumer watchdog organization. There was also no consideration of the many other foods and additives that contained aspartame, which added to the daily intake. Yet, the few corporate mass media outlets they carried the story in 2006 introduced the €10 study with headlines such as “findings may help to alleviate concerns raised by rat study last year.”

Why such a version by the media to dealing with controversial health issues? According to the Center for Public Integrity (CPI), in the past seven years the pharmaceutical and health-products industry spent in excess of $800 million to lobby legislators and government officials at both the federal and state levels. Manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other health products spent nearly $182 million on federal lobbying from January 2005 through June 2006. “No other industry has spent more money to sway public policy,” stated date 2005 CPI special report titled “Drug Lobby Second to None.” “Its combined political outlays on lobbying and campaign contributions is topped only by the insurance industry.”

It should also be noted that the large pharmaceutical corporations annually spend nearly twice as much money on marketing as they do on research and development. In 2004, the CPI reported that pharmaceutical direct-to-consumer advertising has grown from $791 million in 1996 to more than $3.8 billion in 2004. Drug ads on television are now ubiquitous.

The cross-corporate ownership of both pharmaceutical houses, medical institutions, and the mass media, combined with the extraordinary amount of pharmaceutical advertising, might explain the media’s hesitation in reporting the deleterious effects of drugs. According to Dr. Marsha Angell, former editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, profit is the driving force behind medicine today. “In 2002 the combined profits for the 10 drug companies in the Fortune 500 ($35.9 billion) were more than the profits for all the other 490 businesses put together ($33.7 billion),” she states. “Over the past two decades, the pharmaceutical industry has moved very far from its original high purpose of discovering and producing useful new drugs. Now primarily a marketing machine to sell drugs of dubious benefit, this industry uses its wealth and power to co-offed every institution that might stand in its way, including the U.S. Congress, the FDA, academic medical centers, and the medical profession itself.” Dr. Angell, also author of the 2004 book The Truth about the Drug Companies: how they deceive us and what to do about it brings to focus the argument that the current power the pharmaceutical industry can be directly traced to its phenomenal growth during the Reagan years.

“The election of Ronald Reagan in 1980 was perhaps the fundamental element in the rapid rise of Big Pharma–the collective name for the largest drug companies,” wrote Angell. Dr. Angell and a number of others took note of a strong pro-business attitude shift during the Reagan-Bush years–not just in government but within American society.

There was a time in the not-so-distant past when educated persons of class looked upon commercial businessman only slightly more kindly than they had once looked upon theater folk. They also had a slight disdain for enormous inherited wealth. Scientists, teachers, public servants such as firemen and policemen chose their careers for service and community-betterment rather than for lavish salaries and retirement benefits. But times and attitudes change. Today, the corporate mass media portrays the race for wealth as practically virtuous. The wealthy are considered winners while everybody else is a loser. “The gap between the rich and poor, which has been narrowing since World War II, suddenly begins to widen again, until today it is a chasm,” remarked Dr. Angell.

She went on to say that before 1980, pharmaceuticals was a good business, but afterward, it was a stupendous one. From 1960 to 1980, prescription drug sales were fairly static as a percentage of US gross domestic product, but from 1980 to 2000, they tripled. “They now stand at more than $200 billion a year,” said Dr. Angell. “Of the many events that contributed to the industries grading good fortune, none had to do with the quality of the drugs companies were selling.”

The success of Big Pharma has more to do with marketing than the efficiency of its drugs. Dr. Michael Wilkes described a recent process called “disease-mongering.” This term is applied to large drug corporations’ attempts to convince healthy people they are sick and need drugs. “This is all in an attempt to to sell treatments,” explained Dr. Wilks. “When their profits don’t match corporate expectations, they “invent” new diseases to be cured by existing drugs.” Dr. Wilkes cited these examples of medical conditions he considers disease mongering: female sexual dysfunction syndrome, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, toenail fungus, baldness, and social anxiety disorder (formally known as shyness). he said these are but a few areas “where the medical community has stepped in, thereby turning normal or mild conditions into diseases for which medication is the treatment.”

Referring to the colossus that the pharmaceutical industry has become, Dr. Angell remarked, “It is used to doing pretty much what it wants to do.” Beginning in the 1980s, important new laws were passed relaxing restrictions on pharmaceutical corporations. These included the Bayh-Dole act, after its chief sponsors, Indiana Democratic Sen. Birch Bayh and Kansas Republican Sen. Robert Dole. The Bayh-Dole act allowed universities and small businesses to patent discoveries from research underwritten by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the major distributor of tax dollars for medical research. It also allowed taxpayer-financed discoveries formally in public domain, to be granted the drug corporations through exclusive licenses. Dr. Angell said that today universities, where most NIH-sponsored work is carried out, can patent and license their discoveries and charge royalties. Subsequent but similar legislation allows the NIH itself to directly transfer NIH discoveries to industry. Today, “all parties cash in on the public investment in research,” she noted.

Under this system, research paid for by public money becomes a commodity to be sold for profit by private concerns. Dr. Angell provides examples of the large consulting fees paid by pharmaceutical corporations to individual faculty members and to NIH scientists and directors, increasing the intrusion of the globalist pharmaceutical corporations into medical education and the almost complete domination of medical education, particularly when it comes to drugs. Recall that it was an NIH study that refuted peer-reviewed research linking cancer to the sweetener aspartame.

Approximately half of the largest pharmaceutical corporations are not American. About half of them are based in Europe. In 2002, the top 10 were the American companies Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson [which has suffered an annoying and embarrassing series of recalls of its products], Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Wyeth (formerly American Home Products); the British companies Glaxo Smith Kline and AstraZeneca; the Swiss companies Novartis and Roche; and the French company Aventis (which in 2004 merged with another French company, Sanafi Synthelabo, and put it in third place). “All are much alike in their operations. All price their drugs much higher here than in other markets,” stated Dr. Angell.

The lucrative connection between Big Pharma and medical schools and hospitals has brought about a definitive corporate-friendly atmosphere. “One of the results has been a growing pro-industry bias in medical research–exactly where such bias doesn’t belong,” argues Dr. Angell.

She also blasted pharmaceutical corporations’ further claims that high drug prices are necessary to fund research and development. “Drug industry expenditures for research and development, while large, were consistently far less than profits. For the top 10 companies, they amounted to only 11% of sales in 1990, rising slightly to 14% in 2000. The biggest single item in the budget is neither R&D nor even profits but something usually called “marketing and administration”–a name that varies slightly from company to company. In 1990, a staggering 36% of sales revenues went into this category, and that proportion remained about the same for over a decade. Note this is 2.5x the expenditures for R&D.”

Dr. Angell further noted that what many people see as excessive salaries of pharmaceutical executives such as Charles A. Heimbold, Jr., the former chairman and CEO of Bristol-Myers Squibb, who made $74,890,918 in 2001. This does not count his $76,095,611 worth of unexercised stock options. During this same time, John R Stafford, chairman of Wyeth, made it $40,521,011, not counting his $40,629,459 in stock options.

Congress expressly prohibited Medicare from negotiating lower drug prices through its bulk purchasing power and, in 1997, the FDA permitted the drug industry to do direct advertising, previously restricted to physicians, to the public, with no mention of side effects except for the most serious.

The excesses of the globalists’ pharmaceutical corporations have prompted many Americans to seek price relief by traveling to Canada or Mexico to purchase drugs.

Dr. Angell concluded that only an aroused American public can rein in the power of the pharmaceutical monopoly. Noting that drug companies have the largest lobby in Washington, and they give copiously to political campaigns, Dr. Angell said legislators and the mass media corporations are now so dependent on the pharmaceutical industry for campaign contributions and advertising that will be exceedingly difficult to break their power. “But one thing legislators need more than campaign contributions is votes. That is why citizens should know what is really going on… there will be no real reform without an aroused and determined public to make it happen,” she said.

Monkeying Around With Disease

The following two books are at least exemplary of the evil intrigues and results of the intelligence apparati et al but may not be of direct relevance; they may qualify however as sidebar material.

They are of particular interest to me because of my interest in biowarfare, as well as the fact that, and because of the material indicating the surreptitious manipulation of monkey viruses, the contamination of vaccines, and their role in the creation of the pandemic diseases cancer and AIDS.

The Nazi Connection

to the John F. Kennedy Assassination

Evidence of link between Nazis still in operation after World War II to the still unsolved murder of John F. Kennedy

by Mae Brussell

(from the short-lived Larry Flynt publication The Rebel, January 1984)

Kissinger was born Heinz Alfred Kissinger in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany during the Weimar Republic to a family of German Jews. … Kissinger underwent basic training at Camp Croft in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he was naturalized upon arrival. The Army sent him to study engineering at Lafayette College, Pennsylvania, but the program was cancelled, and Kissinger was reassigned to the 84th Infantry Division. There, he made the acquaintance of Fritz Kraemer, a fellow immigrant from Germany who despite the age difference, noted Kissinger’s fluency in German and his intellect, arranged for him to be assigned to the military intelligence section of the division. Kissinger saw combat with the division, and volunteered for hazardous intelligence duties during the Battle of the Bulge.[11]

During the American advance into Germany, Kissinger was assigned to de-Nazify the city of Krefeld, owing to a lack of German speakers on the division’s intelligence staff. Kissinger relied on his knowledge of German society to remove the obvious Nazis and restore a working civilian administration, a task he accomplished in 8 days.[12] Kissinger was then reassigned to the Counter Intelligence Corps, with the rank of Sergeant. He was given charge of a team in Hanover assigned to tracking down Gestapo officers and other saboteurs, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.[13] In June 1945, Kissinger was made commandant of a CIC detachment in the Bergstraße district of Hesse, with responsibility for de-Nazification of the district. … In 1946, Kissinger was reassigned to teach at the European Command Intelligence School at Camp King. In 1952, while still at Harvard, he served as a consultant to the Director of the Psychological Strategy Board.[18] His doctoral dissertation was titled “Peace, Legitimacy, and the Equilibrium (A Study of the Statesmanship of Castlereagh and Metternich).” [Note that this is about the role of the Rothschild family in the Congress of Vienna.]

Kissinger remained at Harvard as a member of the faculty in the Department of Government and at the Center for International Affairs. He became Associate Director of the latter in 1957. In 1955, he was a consultant to the National Security Council’s Operations Coordinating Board.[18] During 1955 and 1956, he was also Study Director in Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations. He released his book Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy the following year.[19] From 1956 to 1958 he worked for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund as director of its Special Studies Project.[18] He was Director of the Harvard Defense Studies Program between 1958 and 1971. He was also Director of the Harvard International Seminar between 1951 and 1971. Outside of academia, he served as a consultant to several government agencies, including the Operations Research Office, the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, and the Department of State, and the Rand Corporation, a think-tank.[18]

Keen to have a greater influence on US foreign policy, Kissinger became a supporter of, and advisor to, Nelson Rockefeller, Governor of New York, who sought the Republican nomination for President in 1960, 1964 and 1968.[20] After Richard Nixon won the presidency in 1968, he made Kissinger National Security Advisor.

There is, of course, more.

Nancy Sharon Maginnes Kissinger [ ]was a long-time aide to New York governor Nelson Rockefeller before her marriage, recommended to him in 1964 by her future husband, then a professor at Harvard, where she was a student. Her first job was as Professor Kissinger’s researcher on a Rockefeller task force; she continued working for Rockefeller at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund after the task force finished its work.[3] She later became director of international studies for Rockefeller’s Commission on Critical Choices for America. Rockefeller attended the experimental Lincoln School, at 123rd Street, in Harlem, the brainchild of Abraham Flexner, who had been strongly influenced by the educational philosophy of John Dewey. The school, opened in 1916, was operated by the Teachers College at Columbia University, with crucial funding in its early years from the family’s General Education Board, the philanthropic educational institution which had been created by his grandfather and further supported by his father, which was later rolled into the Rockefeller Foundation. Later, in 1936, he graduated cum laude from Harvard University, doing his senior thesis on Fabian socialism. He did a postgraduate year in economics at Harvard and then a year at the London School of Economics, which had strong links to the family through his father and the family-run Rockefeller Foundation. It was at this time he first worked briefly in the London branch of what was to become the Chase Manhattan Bank. … In 1940 he received his Ph.D. from the family-created (1889) University of Chicago; his dissertation was entitled: “Unused Resources and Economic Waste”.

In 1947, Rockefeller was invited onto the board of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace by its then president, Alger Hiss, later to be embroiled in a spy scandal; serving on the board were such figures as John Foster Dulles (chairman), Dwight D. Eisenhower and the president of IBM, Thomas J. Watson. …

Rockefeller joined the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) as a director in 1949, the youngest to be appointed to that position up to that time; he was later to become head of the nominating committee for future membership; much later he became chairman of this influential foreign policy think-tank.[8] It was later established, however, that his connection to the Council predated this directorship in 1949. He had earlier played a role in the Council’s deliberations as the secretary of the CFR Study Group on “Reconstruction in Western Europe”, that met over the years 1946-47. The deliberations of that group are credited with influencing the Truman administration’s decision to reconstruct war ravaged Europe with American financial aid, subsequently known as the Marshall Plan.[9]

In 1946, Rockefeller became the family’s first and only banker when he joined the staff of the longtime family-associated Chase National Bank (“the Rockefeller Bank”). The chairman at that time was his uncle Winthrop Aldrich, the son of the powerful U.S. Senator Nelson W. Aldrich, and the brother of Rockefeller’s mother, Abby Aldrich. Chase National subsequently became the Chase Manhattan Bank in 1955, and is now called JPMorgan Chase.

In 1954, Rockefeller became chairman of the committee charged with deciding the location of the bank’s new headquarters. The following year his decision to erect the building in the Wall Street area was accepted; it was subsequently seen as a decision that directly revived the City’s downtown financial district. In 1960 the headquarters was completed under his direction at One Chase Manhattan Plaza, on Liberty Street in downtown Manhattan, directly across from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. At 60 stories, it was at that time the largest bank building in the world; it also had, five floors below ground, the largest bank vault then in existence.

The Chase Bank’s principal competitor — then and now — was National City Bank of New York (later First National City Bank), now Citibank, a division of the holding company Citigroup. Ironically, National City had a long association with the Rockefeller family through James Stillman, a director of the Bank, and David’s great-uncle William Rockefeller, Standard Oil’s finance manager, who was recruited to the Bank’s board by Stillman from 1884 onwards. The Bank then became enriched by its association with the Standard Oil empire, to the point where it was nicknamed the Oil Bank.[12]

When Stillman and William Rockefeller’s children later intermarried they became the Stillman Rockefellers and a descendant, James Stillman Rockefeller, subsequently became chairman of Citibank from 1959, at about the same time as David became Chase president in 1960.

In the 1960s Rockefeller and other businessmen formed the Chase International Advisory Committee (IAC) — which in 2005 consisted of twenty-eight prominent and respected businessmen from 19 nations throughout the world, many of whom were his personal friends; he was subsequently to become chairman until he retired from that position on the IAC in 1999. After the J. P. Morgan merger, this committee was renamed the International Council, and contains prominent figures such as Henry Kissinger, Riley P. Bechtel (of the Bechtel Group), Andre Desmarais, Lee Kuan Yew and George Shultz, the current chairman. Historically, prominent figures on the IAC have included Gianni Agnelli [FIAT] (a longtime associate, who spent thirty years on the Committee), John Loudon (Chairman of Royal Dutch-Shell), C. Douglas Dillon, David Packard and Henry Ford II.[13]

The Chase Bank has also had a strong connection to the World Bank, as three presidents (John J. McCloy, Eugene R. Black, Sr. and George Woods) all worked at Chase before taking up positions at the international bank. A fourth president, James D. Wolfensohn, is also closely associated with Rockefeller, serving as a director of the Rockefeller Foundation, amongst other family-created institutions.[15]

Rockefeller has also for many years hosted annual luncheons at the family’s Westchester County Pocantico estate for the world’s finance ministers and central bank governors, following the annual Washington meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.[16] These luncheons were held at the Playhouse. These regular meetings were also attended by the other internationalist in the family, John D. Rockefeller III, until his death in 1978.

An early connection he developed in the 1950s was with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As well as knowing Allen Dulles and his brother John Foster Dulles — who was an in-law of the family [18]- since his college years,[19] it was in Room 3603 in Rockefeller Center that Allen Dulles had set up his WWII operational center after Pearl Harbor, liaising closely with MI6 which also had their principal U.S. operation in the Center.[20] He also knew and associated with the former CIA director Richard Helms, as well as Archibald Roosevelt, Jr., a Chase Bank employee and former CIA agent, whose cousin was the CIA agent, Kermit Roosevelt, Jr., involved in the Iran coup of 1953.[21] Also, in 1953, he had befriended William Bundy [Skull and Bones 1939, along with his brother McGeorge, Class of 1940] , a pivotal CIA analyst for nine years in the 1950s, who became the Agency liaison to the National Security Council, and a subsequent lifelong friend.[22]

Moreover, in Cary Reich’s biography of his brother Nelson, a former CIA agent states that David was extensively briefed on covert intelligence operations by himself and other Agency division chiefs, under the direction of David’s “friend and confidant”, CIA Director Allen Dulles.[23]

In November 1979, while chairman of the Chase Bank, Rockefeller became embroiled in an international incident when he and Henry Kissinger, along with John J. McCloy and Rockefeller aides, persuaded President Jimmy Carter through the United States Department of State to admit the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, into the United States for hospital treatment for lymphoma. This action directly precipitated what is known as the Iran hostage crisis and placed Rockefeller under intense media scrutiny (particularly from The New York Times) for the first time in his public life.[24]

In his extensive world travels, flying from country to country in his private jet, he has met a vast range of world leaders, including Fidel Castro, Nikita Khrushchev, Mikhail Gorbachev and, notably, Saddam Hussein. Other notable figures whom he has counted amongst his personal friends include members of the Rothschild, Henry Ford and Dulles families, along with such high profile individuals as Katharine Graham, of the Washington Post, Brooke Astor, Nelson Mandela and Peter G. Peterson, chairman of the Blackstone Group, who succeeded Rockefeller as chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations in 1985.

Rockefeller has often hosted visits by foreign dignitaries to New York. One such occasion occurred in 1994 and concerned the visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Rockefeller co-hosted their reception at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the chairman of the New York Times Company, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Jr., who was also chairman of the museum; among the audience were Helmut Schmidt of Germany, Sir Edward Heath of the United Kingdom and Jacques Chirac of France.[25]

Another prominent American public official with whom Rockefeller has had a longstanding relationship was his brother Nelson’s long-time consultant and protege, Henry Kissinger, whose wife, Nancy Kissinger, (née Maginnes) was a former foreign policy aide to his brother. They first met in 1954, when Kissinger was appointed a director of a seminal Council on Foreign Relations study group on nuclear weapons, of which David was a member.[26] The relationship developed to the point that Kissinger was invited to sit on the board of trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

Rockefeller consulted with Kissinger on numerous occasions, as for example in the Chase Bank’s interests in Chile and the threat of the election of Salvador Allende in 1970,[27] and fully supported his “opening of China” initiative in 1971 as it afforded banking opportunities for the Chase Bank.[28]

In 1965, Rockefeller and other senior businessmen formed the Council of the Americas to stimulate and support economic integration in the Americas. The Council subsequently played a key role in the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).[29] In 1992, at a Council sponsored forum, Rockefeller proposed a “Western Hemisphere free trade area”, which subsequently became the Free Trade Area of the Americas in a Miami summit in 1994. His and the Council’s chief liaison to President Bill Clinton in order to garner support for this initiative was through Clinton’s chief of staff, Mack McLarty, whose consultancy firm Kissinger McLarty Associates is a corporate member of the Council, while McLarty himself is on the board of directors.[30]

Through its roster of blue-chip corporations, Rockefeller sits at the core of a network of the most powerful and influential businessmen and women in corporate America.[32] In 1992, he was selected as a leading member of the Russian-American Bankers Forum, an advisory group set up by the head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to advise Russia on the modernization of its banking system, with the full endorsement of President Boris Yeltsin.[33]

President Jimmy Carter offered him the positions of United States Secretary of the Treasury and Federal Reserve Chairman but he declined both positions, preferring a private role (recommending Volcker instead as Fed Chairman, who was subsequently appointed). Another offer he declined was from his brother Nelson, who offered to appoint him to Robert Kennedy’s Senate seat after Kennedy was assassinated in June 1968, a post Nelson also offered to their nephew Jay Rockefeller.[34]

A lifelong Republican and party contributor, like his father in the dynastic line, he is a committed member of the moderate “Rockefeller Republicans” that arose out of the political ambitions and public policy stance of his brother Nelson. In 2006 he teamed up with former Goldman Sachs executives and others to form a fund-raising group based in Washington, Republicans Who Care, that supported moderate Republican candidates over more ideological contenders.[35]

A lifelong globalist, due to the strong influence of his father, he had at an early age further spread his connections when he was invited to attend the inaugural elitist Bilderberg Group meetings, starting with the Holland gathering in 1954. He has been a consistent attendee through the decades and has been a member of the “steering committee”, which determines the invitation list for the upcoming annual meetings. These have frequently included prominent national figures who have gone on to be elected as political leaders of their respective countries including Bill Clinton who first attended in 1991.

David Rockefeller joined the Council on Foreign Relations as its youngest-ever director in 1949 and subsequently became chairman of the board from 1970 to 1985; today he serves as honorary chairman.[36]

In 2002 Rockefeller authored his autobiography “Memoirs” wherein, on page 405, Mr. Rockefeller writes: “For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

There are innumerable instances of prominent world leaders, kings, sheiks and presidents and other personages visiting Rockefeller at the vast family estate and its central mansion, in addition to visits to his own residence there, “Hudson Pines” — President Ronald Reagan, to give just one example, stayed overnight at the family estate in 1986 (see Kykuit).[41]

The Kykuit area of the family estate is also the location of The Pocantico Conference Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) — set up by David and his four brothers and one sister in 1940 — which was created when the Fund leased the area from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1991.

Known as the Playhouse, it provides a setting where the Fund and other nonprofit organizations and public sector institutions can bring together people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives to engage in critical world issues.[42]…

The prominent longtime Rockefeller-associated law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (with John J. McCloy being the last named partner), located in the JP Morgan Chase headquarters building at One Chase Manhattan Plaza, has served as the family’s longterm private legal advisors (and also serves as legal counsel for the Chase Bank) since the days of David’s father. Historically, it has always had one or two senior representatives located within the family office.

n 2003, he served as “honorary member” of the Jury for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition. This was appropriate as he had created and chaired the original Downtown-Lower Manhattan Association in 1960 that had initiated the Center….

He possesses a famous Rolodex in his office in Room 5600, which he started in the 1940s. It is described as a unique, massive four-foot-by-five-foot gold wheel contraption, containing up to 150,000 entries of the most powerful people in the world.[48]

His net wealth is estimated at 2.2 billion dollars, ranking him among the 300 richest people in the world.[49]

Notably, it was over ten years in the writing, with many personal staff in Room 5600 involved, including the family historian who supervised the project, Peter J. Johnson, as well as Fraser P. Seitel, a former head of public affairs at the Chase Bank and one of the premier public relations professionals in America. Seitel is the author of the acclaimed textbook The Practice of Public Relations, and a senior counselor for the leading public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, a division of WPP, one of the world’s largest communication services companies.[53]

Despite its lengthy preparation, Rockefeller’s Memoirs has been criticized for what it appears to omit; some critics maintain the book has “unanswered questions” on every page.[54] The full story of his life and ultimate influence cannot be known, as all his papers are held in the Rockefeller Archive Center at Kykuit and are not currently open to researchers or historians.[55]

Rockefeller donated $100 million to Harvard University in 2008.[56]

Holy coincidence, Batman! Monsanto and Dept. of Defense fund company that could earn billions from Ebola treatment 31 July 2014 One fascinating development worth investigating further is that TEKMIRA Pharmaceuticals, a company working on an anti-Ebola drug, just received a 1.5 million cash infusion from none other than Monsanto. The press release, which states “Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company focused on advancing novel RNAi therapeutics and providing its leading lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery technology to pharmaceutical partners.” Another press release about Tekmira reveals a $140 million contract with the U.S. military for Ebola treatment drugs.

Obama executive order allows apprehension, detention of Americans with respiratory diseases 1 Aug 2014 On Thursday, Barack Obama signed an executive order that allows for the apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals with certain severe acute respiratory diseases, not including influenza. The executive order modifies one signed in 2003 by George Bush that allowed for the detention and quarantine of those with SARS. “Severe acute respiratory syndromes, which are diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, are capable of being transmitted from person to person, and that either are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic, or, upon infection, are highly likely to cause mortality or serious morbidity if not properly controlled,” the executive order reads. “This subsection does not apply to influenza.”

The people behind the outbreak of Ebola fever are believed to be scientists from Tulane University (see here and here) and their Fort Detrick associates in the US biowarfare research community, who have been operating in West Africa during the past several years.

Why you’re unlikely to get ebola

Washington Post – Transmission of ebola requires direct contact with an infected person’s blood, vomit or feces during the period that he or she is contagious, something that is extremely unlikely for anyone but health-care workers. The virus is not spread by coughing or sneezing. Nor do Americans bury their own dead family members or friends, as some residents of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea must do with Ebola victims. “There is zero danger to the U.S. public from these [two] cases or the Ebola outbreak in general,” said Amesh Adalja, a member of the public health committee of the Infectious Disease Society of America and an infectious disease doctor at the University of Pittsburgh. “People who have Ebola are not walking around on the street. They are very, very sick and pretty much confined to a hospital and to a bed,” he added.

3 Girls Dead, Others Hospitalized After Gardasil HPV Vaccine

A Google search of the term “Merck biowarfare” yielded these articles among the first 60 cited:

From December 2, 2009: “Public Menace-Private Profit: America’s Biowarfare Alliance” by Tom Burghardt:

“… according to Edmond Hammond, director of the now-defunct Sunshine Project, records pried from the federal government through the Freedom of Information Act uncovered a disturbing pattern of criminal neglect amongst university and corporate officials….. In the former Soviet Union, the Sunshine Project revealed that scientists involved in illegal offensive biowarfare research developed “plague bacteria (Yersinia pestis) … that were resistant to 16 different antibiotics. Today, the genetic introduction of antibiotic resistance into bacterial pathogens is routine work in almost any microbiology laboratory.” ….

A History of Illicit Research

The close proximity of U.S. biological warfare programs and the pharmaceutical industry is hardly an historical accident. From its inception, American research drew from a rich pool of biomedical researchers backed by the formidable technological resources of Big Pharma.

As Leonard Cole revealed in his 1988 exposé, Clouds of Secrecy: The Army’s Germ Warfare Tests over Populated Areas, biowarfare research during World War II and the Cold War period was a public/private affair in which the government provided funds to state agencies and private corporations alike in the hope that such solicitous relationships would lead to breakthroughs in the area of offensive weapons or what is now euphemistically called “biodefense.”

Indeed, none other than George W. Merck, the president of the Merck Pharmaceutical Company, was a top-flight consultant to the Secretary of War. In that capacity, Merck and his company provided expertise and technological know-how for work on America’s nascent biowar programs. In a 1946 report to the Secretary of War penned by Merck, Cole revealed that the program “included research, testing, development, and production of biological agents,” all carried out as Merck wrote, in the “strictest secrecy.”

While wartime fears of biological attacks by the Axis powers represented a clear and present danger to the United States and their allies as revelations of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan’s active programs attest, this information was scrupulously covered-up and suppressed for decades. Indeed after the war, the United States actively recruited these sociopaths into their biological, chemical and nuclear weapons programs.

As is now known, America’s military establishment struck a devil’s bargain with the same war criminals who, in the name of science, visited death upon millions. While the doctors and biologists who filled the ranks of Japan’s Unit 731 hadn’t achieved a “breakthrough” in terms of delivery systems’ development, as researcher Sheldon H. Harris revealed in Factories of Death, they possessed an invaluable resource sought by U.S. bioweaponeers: detailed records of the Japanese Army’s obscene human experiments.

After the war with a new official enemy looming on the horizon–the Soviet Union–Merck admonished the state to maintain a strong biological warfare program, writing: “Work in this field, born of the necessity of war, cannot be ignored in time of peace; it must be continued on a sufficient scale to provide an adequate defense.” ….
Leading experts, as I reported in August, have derided the possibility that terrorist groups have the know-how to fabricate smallpox or other pathogens into biological weapons as a massive “fraud … and a substantial one” perpetrated on the American people.

Hysterical claims by securocrats that “bioterrorism is one of the most pressing problems we have on the planet today,” an assertion made by Dr. Tara O’Toole, the Undersecretary of Science and Technology at the Department of Homeland Security, is not borne out by the facts.

Indeed, such claims not only distort available evidence that terrorist groups have such capabilities but conceal the more salient fact that Pentagon weaponeers continue to build banned weapons.”

SANE Vax Inc. Discovers Potential Bio-hazard Contaminant in Merck’s Gardasil™ HPV 4 Vaccine

Here’s a two-hour interview with Albarelli:

Here is Wikispooks’ collection of related documents:

Here is the link to the TrineDay offering:

Starting on page 42,  Albarelli’s book  “A Terrible Mistake” (2009) notes that in 1914, “Merck’s German operation was the 1st company worldwide to synthesize and patent MDMA, a semi-synthetic psychoactive drug popularly known today as ecstasy, [and] tested in the early 1950s under the codename EA–1475 at the Army’s Edgewood Arsenal.

Appointed [the director of the war research service] by Secretary of War Henry Stimson in 1942, George Merck promptly hired Dr. Edwin B Fred as chief of research and development. An agricultural bacteriologist and former president of the Society of American Bacteriology, Dr. Fred was dean of the University of Wisconsin graduate school and, later, president of the University. While at Wisconsin, Frank Olson had been one of Dr. Fred’s best students. ….

Merck also recruited John Phillips Marquand  to be director of the DRS division of biological warfare information and intelligence [who] had become a well-known satirical novelist and had no experience in the world of intelligence gathering or bureaucracy when Merck hired him. Marquand displayed his naivete. When he made it his 1st priority to consolidate, under the WRS’s auspices,  the flow of germ warfare intelligence from the Army, FBI, Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Office of Strategic Services, and Office of Naval Intelligence. [The] effort failed quickly and miserably.

George W. Merck, however, was no neophyte in biological warfare. Previously, he had served as a high-ranking insult and to a top-secret group called the WBC committee. The WBC committee had been formed in the fall of 1941, 2 months before the attack on Pearl Harbor, when Secretary of War Henry L Stimson asked Frank Jewett, president of the National Academy of Sciences, to appoint a working group to make a complete survey of the biological warfare capacities of other nations. Wrote Stimson to Jewett, “because of the danger that might confront this country from potential enemies implying what may be broadly described as biological weapons, it seems advisable that investigations be initiated to survey the present situation and the future possibilities.”

Jewett [ ] [ ] [ ] , yes, indeed, he is related, but very distantly and in a way precisely unknown to me] turned to his good friend Dr. Edwin B Fred at the University of Wisconsin to identify who would be best for the group. Fred picked Merck; Dr. Ira Baldwin; Thomas Turner, chairman of the department of bacteriology at the Johns Hopkins University; Thomas Rivers, director of the Rockefeller Hospital in New York; William Hay Taliaferro at the University of Chicago; and Lewis O. Kunkel of the Rockefeller Institute. Merck chaired the group, which was named the War Bureau of Consultants, or, as it was commonly referred to, the WBC committee. Acting as military liaison to the committee were Major Arvo Thompson and Lt. Col. James H Defendorf from Edgewood Arsenal.”

On page 405 of “A Terrible Mistake”:

“During the 1930s and 1940s, the majority of legal drug factories and farms cynical houses were located in Germany, France, and Switzerland, including such, companies as Merck, Hoffman Laroche, I. G. Farben, and Sandoz, all major suppliers of morphine, heroin, cocaine, and dialudide. [As described by Dr. Alan A. Block in his “brilliant study” — Albarelli’s words– , “Space, Time and Organized Crime”] [ ],  “while legal shipments went out the front doors of these firms, countless crates of drugs earmarked for illicit trafficking were going up the back doors. It was a highly lucrative operation for many criminals at the time.” It was also quite lucrative for the pharmaceutical companies.”

Further examples cited by Block appear on pages 444-445 of Albarelli, one of which is the exportation in 1928 by France of some 346 kg of morphine to the United States, and another the export of over 1300 kg of morphine by the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Sandoz to a Japanese firm which had no record of the transaction and which law enforcement officials believed had passed into the illicit international traffic.

Pages 556 through 561 discuss experiments at the homes per prison (and other locations) involving the Army’s Chemical Corps and perhaps linked to an outbreak of the Hong Kong flu at a nearby home for the indigenous; “former Camp Detrick researchers say that Detrick’s SOD and other divisions had maintained “a high level of interest in various Asian flu’s for a good number of years in the 1960s and beyond.” In addition to other experiments noted on page 557 of “riot control agents, lethal chemical agents and incapacitating compounds” involving prestigious universities that exposed human subjects to biological and chemical warfare agents. On page 559-567, Albarelli relates the story, debate and cover-up of the incident on September 5, 1957 at the Arms Textile Mill in Manchester New Hampshire, a site of tests being conducted by the biological warfare laboratories at Fort Detrick and  closely associated with an outbreak of deadly anthrax, the manufacturing plant “was the site for tests of an experimental anthrax vaccine” produced years later by the from ex-surgical company Merck, Sharp and Dohme (today known as Merck and Company. Incorporated).”

The notes begin on page 780.

** also cites Merck ties to Rockefeller and Sloan funding, Kissinger’s place on the Merck board,

“Records show the Merck pharmaceutical company received a major share of the Nazi “flight capital” – the working capital of the IG Farben Rockefeller chemical cartel – at the close of World War II. These facts were revealed by Norman Covert, Army public relations director at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD (169) – the same “Camp Detrick” given to George Merck to use for his wartime research. Camp Detrick Army Chemical Corps worked with Germany’s bio-warfare specialist Major General Kurt Blome – just two month after he was acquitted at Nuremburg. [170: “Emerging Viruses” p. 332]”

“Bayer worked at Ft. Detrick after WW2, developing “new weapons.” (171: “Bayer Buys Berkeley,” Jenny Miller, January, 1992, Z Magazine, p. 23)

No doubt Merck put all that Nazi know-how to work making war viruses. A “Special Virus Cancer Program” contract from 1971 revealed Merck developed “methods of propagation, purification, concentration, and specific quantitation of candidate viruses suspected or shown to cause cancer in man.”

“… In 2004, Thompson wrote a letter to CDC Director, Julie Gerberding, warning her that he was about to present troubling and sensitive data about the MMR vaccine at an upcoming conference on vaccines and autism.

Thompson’s meaning was clear. He had found a connection between the MMR vaccine and autism.

Gerberding never answered his letter, and Thompson’s presentation at that conference was canceled.

Gerberding left the CDC in 2009.

She is now…

Janet Phelan, of Activist Post, has a review of Graeme MacQueen’s book The 2001 Anthrax Deception: The Case for a Domestic Conspiracy, in which the former McMaster University professor, author,  and founder of its Centre of Peace Studies [ ] “ties together a considerable breadth of evidence related to both the attacks of September 11, 2001 and to the subsequent anthrax letters” .

[ ]

Phelan notes: “The USA PATRIOT Act, passed by Congress and signed into law on October 26, 2001, did indeed change the face of America. The resultant NSA surveillance scandals are, however, only one aspect of the changes wrought by this piece of legislation. MacQueen fails to mention the relevant Section 817 of the USA PATRIOT Act — The Expansion of the Biological Weapons Statute — in which the US changed its existing biological weapons statute to give itself immunity from violating its own biological weapons laws. The implications of this alteration cannot be emphasized enough.

[Emphasis by Phelan]

And while MacQueen mentions in passing that a U.S. Commission stated that a “serious bioterrorism event” was expected by the end of 2013, MacQueen does not detail the chorus of insiders — including U.S. Senators, members of the Department of Homeland Security, vaccine manufacturers and high ranking officers in the US military — who have also made this exact, disturbing prediction. There is reason to believe that such predictions point to another bioweapons attack, and this evidence of fore-knowledge deserves further scrutiny.

Equally, MacQueen only provides mention that the U.S. has pumped $70 billion into a “biodefense” program in the ten-year period from 2001 to 2011. MacQueen fails to question the nature of this shadowy “biodefense” program, which many commentators now consider to be a covert offensive (weapons) program…..”

COPING w-9/11 Soul-Healing, Health Pro’s

There is a whole series of stages you must go through when dealing with pain such as this. The “5 steps of grieving process” (Denial, Anger, Bargaining (Prayer?), Depression, Acceptance). We owe it to the victims. Let’s get a new, independent hearing on the real causes of 9/11, with subpeona powers. Part of the healing process, is punishment for those criminally involved in the government’s conspiracy that day. (15:07)

A more long-term prize would be a massive “perp” walk.

Speaking of sound, I don’t ordinarily post stuff that comes in from Huffington Post but this seemed pretty interesting in light of what I know (and it’s not much) about how sound works inside the body/mind/spiritual unit. (Perhaps someone would like to write a guest post on the topic of cosmic sound, pitch, frequency, brain waves, and the fact that our brain appears to have cellular-level receptors and transmitters.)

“What does an atom sound like? Apparently it’s a “D-note.”

That’s according to scientists at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden, who have revealed in a new study that they’ve captured the sound of a single atom.

“We have opened a new door into the quantum world by talking and listening to atoms,” study co-author Per Delsing, a physics professor at the university, said in a written statement. “Our long term goal is to harness quantum physics so that we can benefit from its laws, for example in extremely fast computers.”

about the work of Alvaro Pascual-Leone about whom I’ve read and written briefly within the topics of neuroplasticity and Norman Doidge, M.D.

Being a student of communication, I remember Henry David Thoreau commenting about the fact that a telegraph line had just connected Texas to Maine and pre-supposed that this meant that Texas had something to communicate about with the people in Maine.

Actually, extra-sensory mind-to-mind communication (and why ideas jump to mind?) has been proven for some time; I first read about it in the introduction to a book based on a Smithsonian lecture series edited by Karen Nesbitt Shanor, Ph.D. entitled “The Emerging Mind” and published by Renaissance Books in 1999. Drs. Marilyn Schlitz  and William Braud demonstrated that, through our thoughts, we can affect the blood pressure, heart rate and electrical conduction of the skin of another person at a different location.

Dr. Roger D. Nelson, when he was at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab (PEAR), showed that people were able to communicate complex information (such as images of buildings and sculptures) to other people thousands of miles away. The proof that such information could be communicated mentally from one person to another was interesting enough but what really astounded the audience in the Smithsonian seminar in 1994 where the results were first announced was that, in a large number of cases, the receivers got the information up to three days before it was sent out.

The bibliography of Chip Brown’s book Afterwards You’re a Genius: Faith, Medidcine and the Metaphysics of Healing  notes that the Braud/Schlitz research was published in Alternative Therapies 3, 6 (11/1997) in the article “Distant Intentionality and Healing: Assessing The Evidence” and that the PEAR lab work was summarized in Margins of Reality: The Role of Consciousness in the Physical World by Robert Jahn and Brenda Dunne (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1987).

Someone who goes by the very common name “anonymous”, in the comments thread here, suggests that the writer “cognitive dissonance” is a disinformation artist.

Kenny may well know who this “anonymous” is but Kenny is probably very busy with a bountiful harvest from his summer vegetable garden.  The chilly winds of autumn are already upon us.

I posted the long article on 9/11 by “cognitive dissonance”:

PDF of that article: The Ultimate Litmus Test

As you can see, it came to me by way of another member of Kenny’s Neighborhood.

I could see right away that it would challenge a number of people who are fixated on affixing blame for 9/11 on a certain Mideastern nation and its minions, and sure enough “anonymous” seems to have taken the bait. When I posted the article, I scanned it rapidlyy to see what it had to say and I found it worthy of reading and, last night, finally found the time in the middle of my real estate games, to read it in full.  I suggest to everyone that they take the time to digest the article slowly.  I think anonymous missed some key points. I leap a copy on my desktop and did some “color font” highlighting of what I thought were four key points.

1) “Why in the world are ‘we’ so worried about appearing credible to those who have no intention of believing anything other than what they wish to believe?”

2)Enough ‘truth’, omission, scapegoats, blind alleys, false leads, backtracking and ideological red herrings has been seeded into the official cover-up to keep EVERYONE on both sides of the aisle endlessly chasing their tails.”

3) “Better to have the disaffected corralled in the cattle shoot (chute?) snipping at one another rather than out in the streets directly confronting authority or taking incremental steps towards slowly withdrawing from the enslaving system.”

4)As long as we remain mesmerized by the symptoms of the disease we remain effectively disabled from dealing with the root cause of our illness. Mission Accomplished!

It is time to wake up and head deeper down the rabbit hole. Contrary to popular belief ‘our’ collective problems will not be solved unless and until our inner dysfunction and insanity are confronted and recognized.”

The antidote, says “cognitive dissonance”, is to stop quibbling and to keep moving forward.

What constitutes moving forward?

Loving, creating, building something different than what is currently operative…

This was my signature line at the now-defunct discussion board in October 2011:

In America, telling the truth is a treasonous act. The inverse of that is that selling misinformation in a republic and an open society is behavior that brings rewards from the centers of control. Without appropriate social agreement or understanding, we are simply telling lies to one another. That’s the way it works in dysfunctional relationships. We then have what amounts to a Potemkin village, a maskirovka, in which purposeful deception is allowed and fraud and corruption are actively promoted as the way of transaction.

NEA Jazz Masters Awards 2014 (17:29)

Is Hawaiian Beer the Next Big Thing? says the headline on the mega-media home page, with the Today show icon, that streams hot and cold running distraction and propaganda available for you (after requisite warm-up time) as soon as you snap the “on” button into the more interactive mode.  Information overload…. Like walking into the Barnes & Noble store, outlet for the NWO system of print machinery, complete with Starbucks cafe. I passed on the coffee and, for the most part, just browsed; I spent some time flicking through Masha Gessen’s book on Putin. I thought to myself, well, the woman did at least spend some time in Russia. I didn’t buy the book (I’m living on a retirement pension) but I was able to identify this review at the And here is NPR’s treatment of the book.

Gessen’s book is one of five listed on Stephen Kotkin’s list of five books on Putin and there is, according to, a newer book on vladimir putin that claims Moscow political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky says that “Vladimir Putin [is] a traumatized orphan with alleged homosexual tendencies”.  (The enormous wealth we already knew about.)

The T-shirt I wore to B&N reads “I’m Ready for Oligarchy”, a parody of the Hillary Clinton campaign slogan, so enormous wealth is a necessity if one wants to have power.  If you are willing to be a spokesperson or a political agent for those who have enormous wealth, they’ll throw some of it your way. Inflation and several millennia have gotten us beyond pieces of silver.

I gather that Putin would be amused by all this and simultaneously is a man who takes, perhaps after some thought, action. One of the things I gleaned from the Gessen book is that he called the author right after she left Russia for Prague. Her call-from-the-kremlin came as she drove past Kafka’s grave.

Don’t fail to read her bio at Wikipedia.

But I digressed, again. I was talking about Hawaiian beer. I’d been in Barnes and Noble looking for something and killing time waiting for the realtor to finish showing the house. I found what I was looking for, and decided that several of the author’s works about whom I had a sudden curiosity could and would wait until I sampled some of his earlier and lesser works but which had a direct bearing on the main focus (already nesting and briefly sampled in digital online free format).  The only clue I’m going to give you is that the topical focus is on happiness, death, life, God and government.

Now, about that Hawaiian beer…. The article talks about micro-brews on the islands that have a unique “terroir” for having used locally-grown lemongrass, or uses taro root, and “mango and pineapple flavors playing off the gentle malt backbone”. I’ve never been to the islands.  The article does say that a few of the brews make it into production long enough to get distributed on the mainland. But Honolulu is 3,335 miles from Boston, and there are 22 craft breweries in operation within an hour’s drive from my house. The local supermarket sells carbonated mineral water under the own label bottled in the Italian Alps. Spring water is bottled less than two miles from my house.

I’m enough of a Taoist to ask:

Why in hell anyone would consider undertaking the shipment of flavored water for more than 70 miles?

NATO membership expansionism

September 5-7, 2014 — NATO: How big will it get?

A re-post without change of a Wayne Madsen report

President Obama and 27 other NATO heads of state are meeting in a highly-secured Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales amid calls for NATO to expand further toward Russia’s borders. Fast-track NATO membership for Ukraine and Georgia, both of which began negotiations on NATO membership after George Soros- and CIA-funded street demonstrations resulted in democratically-elected pro-Russian governments being overthrown, is back on the table.

As NATO expands eastward in order to surround Russia on the east, south, and potentially, the west, Article 10 of the NATO Charter becomes a major problem for the Cold War-era military alliance. Article 10 stipulates that NATO membership is only open to “European States.”

Article 10 states: “The Parties [NATO Treaty signatories] may, by unanimous agreement, invite any other European State in a position to further the principles of this Treaty and to contribute to the security of the North Atlantic area to accede to this treaty. Any State so invited may become a Party to the Treaty by depositing its instrument of accession with the Government of the United States of America.”

As NATO expands to lands that as much a part of the Middle East and the western Asian steppes as they are part of Europe, Article 10 becomes a major issue. Furthermore, no serious geographer or cartographer would ever associate Kiev, Tbilisi, or Sofia with the “North Atlantic.”

However, Article 10 has not prevented a number of right-wing think tanks and neoconservative policy “boiler shops” in Washington from calling for NATO to ignore Article 10 and expand NATO far beyond the North Atlantic and Europe.

NATO Summit in Wales [above] bears an uncanny resemblance to the war room in the Cold War black comedy “Dr. Strangelove” [below].

The mindsets of the NATO expansion advocates to the zany war promoters of the movie are the same.

One of the first moves by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who overthrew the democratically-elected President Eduard Shevardnadze in the Soros-initiated and CIA-funded Rose Revolution of 2003, was to sign up for NATO’s Membership Action Plan (MAP). Saakashvili also staged a dubious non-binding referendum in 2008 that resulted in 77 percent in support of Georgian NATO membership. However, Georgia claims ownership of two self-declared independent republics — Abkhazia and South Ossetia — that were welded into the former Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic by Joseph Stalin against the wishes of their people. Fearful of NATO’s resurgence and wary of a new attempt by NATO to absorb Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia have announced the creation of a “Unified Defense Space” to counter Georgia’s and NATO’s ambitions.

Similarly, after President Viktor Yushchenko prevented the elected president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanuokjovych from being sworn in as president after the Soros operation and CIA managed to turn out protesters in Kiev’s “Orange Revolution” in 2004, one of Yushchenko’s first actions as president was to sign Ukraine up for NATO’s “Intensified Dialogue” program, which was NATO-speak for fast tracked membership. In 2010, after Yanukovych’s election (some would argue, “re-election” since he was prevented from taking office in 2004) as president after the failed Yushchenko presidency, Soros, the Obama administration neocons, and the CIA planned for another undemocratic seizure of power. After Yanukovych was ousted in the “Euromaidan” revolution earlier this year, the new government of World Bank technocrats and neo-fascists called for fast track membership for Ukraine in NATO. And NATO leaders, meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Wales, appears ready to place Ukraine on a fast track to full membership. U.S. and other NATO troops are to arrive in Lvov in late September to train with Ukrainian military personnel.

Poroshenko, who, on one hand, expressed his desire for a negotiated deal with Russia and the ethnic Russians of eastern Ukraine, was running around the NATO summit soliciting support for NATO membership for Ukraine.

The Kiev regime is plowing ahead for NATO membership even though a 2009 poll revealed that 57 percent of Ukrainians opposed NATO membership for their country. In Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine, which has declared independence from Kiev, a poll showed 74 percent opposed to NATO membership.

Taking advantage of the new Cold War that NATO, itself, initiated with the Western-led coup in Kiev, NATO planners are working with neocon and right-wing political leaders in neutral Sweden and Finland to fast-track those nations into NATO. Finland is a particular prize for NATO because of its 833-mile long border with Russia. Some Finnish rightists also yearn for the return of eastern Karelia, which was former Finnish territory ceded to the former Soviet Union after the Finno-Soviet Winter War. Recent polls show 50 percent of Swedes opposed to NATO membership. Although Finland and NATO signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2014 that many believe permit NATO pre-positioning of military equipment near the Russian border, polls show 52 percent of Finns being opposed to NATO membership. Former Finnish Presidents Tarja Halonen and Mauno Koivisto have warned that Finnish membership in NATO would irrevocably harm the nation’s relations with Russia.

President Obama said in Estonia that NATO is an alliance of democracies. Some of these “democracies” apparently want to rush their nations into NATO even when majorities of their people are opposed to such action.

NATO is itching to absorb as members nations that have border irredentism issues with Russia. These include Ukraine, with Crimea now a republic of the Russian Federation; Georgia, with Abkhazia and South Ossetia major issues; and Moldova, where the primarily ethnic Russian Transnistrian Republic had declared independence from Moldova.

Although Moldova’s constitution prohibits the country from joining any military alliance, that inconvenient fact has not deterred Moldovan Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuţa from calling for Moldova to join NATO. Marinuţa, who came to power with a government sponsored by Soros provocateurs, is a former employee of the U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida, where he was a “strategy and policy planner.”

Moldova’s sudden interest in NATO membership has resulted in Transnistrian and Russian leaders calling for the self-proclaimed republic to be absorbed into the Russian Federation in the same manner that Crimea was united with Russia.

Another country on NATO’s list for prospective members is Bosnia-Herzegovina, a tripartite federation consisting of Bosniak Muslim, Croatian, and Serbian republics. Bosnian Defense Minister Selmo Cikotić is a leading cheerleader for fast-track NATO membership for Bosnia-Herzegovina. Cikotić is a former Bosnian military attaché in Washington and attended the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas before being expelled following accusations that his troops committed war crimes in the Bosnian town of Bugojno. In 2007, Cikotić and Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac traveled to a NATO Council summit in Brussels to petition for their countries to become NATO members. Šutanovac is a graduate of the George Marshall Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, which is Pentagon funded. Although some Serbs want NATO membership, both the Srpska Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia remember with bitter memories the sustained NATO bombing campaigns against both countries that resulted in large numbers of civilian deaths.

The artificial nation of Kosovo, a NATO and European Union invention, also wants NATO membership. It hosts Camp Bondsteel, a military base used by the United States and NATO. Kosovo’s chief NATO membership promoter is Enver Hoxhaj, a former official of World University Service-Austria, a “Christian” NGO with strong Soros links. Also on track for NATO membership are Montenegro and Macedonia. However, polls show 42 percent of Montenegrins opposed to NATO membership.

NATO’s renewed march east is a far cry from the agreement made between the George H W Bush administration and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev that in exchange for Moscow’s agreement on German reunification, NATO would not inch any further east. That agreement was scrapped by Bill Clinton’s Prague-born Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who eagerly welcomed her native Czech Republic, as well as Poland and Hungary as NATO members in 1997. Albright’s promises that NATO would not further expand toward Russia and never include any former Soviet republics were shown to be hollow after Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania joined NATO in 2004 after membership negotiations began under Albright’s tutelage in 2000. Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Romania also joined NATO in 2004. Croatia and Albania followed in 2009.

NATO has also been trying to wean Ireland away from its traditional neutrality. Many observers believe that NATO has a secret agreement with Ireland to use Shannon Airport as a cargo and personnel transit hub. NATO’s gambit has been to use the terrorist feat to lure Ireland into NATO, the reasoning being that Ireland would be safer from terrorism inside NATO than as an outsider. It is the same argument that has been used by the “No” campaign in the United Kingdom to keep Ireland’s Celtic brethren in Scotland from voting “Yes” for independence in the upcoming referendum. An Irish Defense Policy Green Paper released by Ireland’s Israelophile Defense Minister Alan Shatter, released earlier this year, calls for Ireland to pursue NATO membership.

The European Union has been accused of using combined EU and NATO membership for Ireland and another neutral nation, Austria, as a prerequisite for remaining a member in good standing of the EU. In May of this year, Austria inched closer to NATO membership when it became the first non-NATO country to join NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence in Estonia.

Some NATO officials have also expressed an interest in folding Azerbaijan and Armenia under the NATO umbrella. A confidential NATO paper recently leaked to Der Spiegel calls for enhanced “interoperability” of the military forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Moldova, with NATO, and proposes “smart defense” operations between the three nations and NATO.

It is when NATO starts to eye members outside of Europe that Article 10 becomes a major issue. A recent cooperation agreement between NATO and Colombia was seen by some as a first step toward NATO membership for the Latin American nation. Some neocon think tanks have called for NATO membership for Mexico. Further neocon proposals have called for NATO to become a global military alliance and offer full membership to Israel, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, India, Singapore, and South Africa. There have even been calls for NATO to take in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, and Jordan as members.

It is clear who the NATO expansionists see as the enemies of a larger NATO: Russia; China; Muslim nations like Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia; and Latin American nations such as Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. The question remains: Why is an alliance called the “North Atlantic” Treaty Organization interested in expanding into Asia, Latin America, and Africa?

Foggy Memories Obscure Forebears Of Ferguson Unrest

By Bob Hennelly on Aug 30, 2014

[Re-posted in its entirety without change or addition.]

Forty-seven years ago, the African-American population of New Jersey’s largest city took to the streets after a violent encounter between white police officers and an unarmed black man. While the body count in Newark—26 people dead and 1,500 injured—was far greater than in the recent disturbances in Ferguson, Missouri, the parallels between the two tragedies are too clear to be ignored.

Collective amnesia about past eruptions of racial conflict has left Americans with a false sense that what happened in Ferguson is somehow new. But the only thing new is the technology. The attitudes on display are sadly familiar.

After the terrible events of July 1967, New Jersey Governor Richard Hughes was faced with the same formidable challenge that Missouri Governor Jay Nixon faces now: How to avert future eruptions along the racial fault line that has undermined the American experiment in democracy since before the nation was founded.

“Newark and Ferguson are absolutely linked,” says Paul McLemore, a front-line witness to the five days of rage that shook not just Newark and New Jersey but the entire nation. McLemore, the first African-American to become a New Jersey State trooper, was the only black trooper in Newark during what the media of the day called “the riots.” He later became a civil rights attorney and recently retired as a municipal court judge. Looking back at Newark through the lens of Ferguson, he told WhoWhatWhy: “Very little has changed between the police and the community over all these years. We still have a very deep divide along racial lines.”

The parallels are numerous:

In both Newark and Ferguson, a mostly African-American population was policed by an overwhelmingly white police force that reported to a white political power structure.

In both communities African-American families were struggling economically. Neighborhood tensions were exacerbated by a sky-high youth unemployment rate.

In both places the powers-that-be made a last-minute effort to promote a black man from within the ranks of law enforcement in hopes of placating a distrustful black population.

And in both Newark and Ferguson an aggressive response by the authorities to an initial incident triggered the prolonged period of civil unrest.×300.png

Racial tensions had been percolating in Newark for months before the summer of 1967. As the national civil rights movement gained momentum, the city’s black community was becoming more assertive. Heavy-handed land use decisions by the white municipal power structure, such as the decision to locate a new medical school in the heart of the black community, displacing long-time residents, generated organized push-back. African-Americans felt they were being taken for granted by the white politicians they had supported for a generation and had little tangible to show for their loyalty.

On July 12, 1967, police pulled over John W. Smith, an African-American cab driver, for what started out as an alleged traffic violation. Police contend Smith cursed at them when they encountered him and that when the police went to take Smith into custody he assaulted them. According to the police, they got Smith into their squad car but when they got to the precinct they maintain Smith continued to resist. This time, passersby who witnessed the altercation heckled the police, demanding that they take the handcuffs off Smith.

Large crowds formed outside the precinct house where Smith was held. Community leaders demanded to see him and when they were granted access, they discovered he needed immediate medical attention. Smith was sent to the hospital for treatment for a skull injury and broken ribs.  By 7 p.m. the next day, Smith was released to his lawyer but the damage was done. Word on the street was that Smith had been fatally beaten.

Over the next 24 hours, the Newark Police Department tried to keep a lid on a very dynamic situation. Cab drivers were mobilized to protest the treatment of their colleague, community members were protesting police brutality, and street conditions were deteriorating. Police were being pelted by debris and looting started to break out.×213.png

It wasn’t until 2:20 a.m. on the third day that Newark Mayor Hugh Addonizio called Governor Hughes to ask for the State Police and National Guard to be deployed to his city.

McLemore was ordered to report to the New Jersey State Police barracks at Hightstown in his riot gear. According to media accounts, fires were burning out of control in the central city. He joined a caravan of state police cars with hundreds of trooper heading up the New Jersey Turnpike, lights flashing. “The guys with me were just ecstatic, like they were going off to war,” McClemore says of the white troopers he rode with. “We got to where the Newark airport is. You could see Newark’s skyline and all you could see was smoke and flames. I thought `Lord, what is going to happen here?’”

“When we drove through the central district of Newark things had gotten so bad——Newark police community relations had deteriorated so much, people were out on their porches applauding us. `Hooray! The troops have arrived.  Everything will be fine. They will restore order.’ Black folks were welcoming the troops in.”
This welcoming attitude did not last long. Within days, Governor Hughes ordered the National Guard and the New Jersey State Police out of Newark. “When we left there,” McLemore says, “we were like a dog with its tail between its legs. People threw piss at us.”

What accounted for the New Jersey State Police and the National Guard’s precipitous fall from community grace?

The tragic details are laid out in an official account compiled by “The Governor’s Select Commission on Civil Disorder.” This document, known as the Lilley Report after its chairman, then AT&T President Robert D. Lilley, has slipped into undeserved obscurity.

In fact, the Lilley Report can serve as a model for anyone hoping to understand the troubles in Ferguson and other racially divided communities.

In August of 1967, a month after Newark burned, Governor Hughes convened a blue-ribbon panel of religious, political, and legal leaders and charged them with generating “a realistic analysis of the disorders….and practical proposals” to help prevent a recurrence of the unrest.

“They were not a bunch of bleeding-heart liberals,” says McLemore. “They came out with a very strong indictment of how the State Police and National Guard actually made a bad situation worse.”

Over months of investigation, the panel took sworn testimony from more than 100 witnesses ranging from the Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police to Amiri Baraka, a poet and playwright whose activism had made him a frequent target for the local police. The Commission also heard from John W. Smith, whose arrest was the flashpoint for events that would haunt Newark for decades.

After speaking with scores of Newark store owners and residents, the Commission concluded that members of both the police and the National Guard, motivated by racial prejudice, had used “excessive and unjustified force” on Newark residents, and had specifically targeted African-American-owned businesses for destruction. “These raids resulted in personal suffering to innocent small businessmen and property owners who have a stake in law and order and who had not participated in any unlawful act. It embittered the Negro community as a whole when the disorders had begun to ebb,” concluded the Commission.

Perhaps the most volatile issue raised by the breakdown of order in Newark was that of sniper fire.

Phantom Snipers

During the days of unrest law enforcement and the National Guard claimed that they were fired on by snipers, whose shots led to the deaths of a Newark police detective and a Fire Captain responding to a fire call.  While not outright rejecting this claim, the Lilley Report noted the doubts of Newark’s own Police Director at the time, Dominick Spina: “A lot of the reports of snipers was due to the, I hate to use the word, trigger-happy Guardsmen, who were firing at noises and firing indiscriminately, it appeared to me, and I was out in the field at all times.”

McLemore’s own experience shows how indiscriminate shooting by the police and National Guard resulted in dangerous “friendly fire” exchanges. He recalls walking in a patrol formation at dusk when a street light came on and a Newark cop on patrol with him reflexively shot it out, prompting another patrol to blindly return fire in his direction. “It was the Keystone Cops. You had a situation where the National Guard and police were shooting at each other.”

Out of the 26 fatalities during the five days of unrest, 23 (including a number of innocent bystanders) were from gunshot wounds. The Lilley report estimated that the National Guard and N.J. State police fired some 13,000 rounds in all. No total was available for the local police, who reported killing people, seven “justifiably” and three “by accident.”

What makes the Lilley Report required reading today is not just its detailed summary of what happened during the five days of civil unrest in Newark. Like the Kerner Commission, which then-President Lyndon Johnson created to look into the issue of urban unrest on a national scale, the Governor’s Select Commission took pains to place the 1967 disturbances in historical perspective.

The 200-page Lilley Report cast a critical eye on the City of Newark’s economic and political power structure. It identified a widening gap between the white-dominated municipal government and the overwhelmingly black electorate the city’s leaders were supposed to serve. It documented how African-American businesses and local contractors were systematically excluded from public contracts, and it characterized the pervasive corruption of Newark’s officialdom by quoting the words of one informant: “There is a price on everything in City Hall.”

Among the statistics the report laid out to describe Newark’s endemic poverty: the city had the highest maternal and infant mortality rate in the nation and the highest rate of tuberculosis infection, and it ranked ninth out of 302 American cities in severity of air pollution.

If further confirmation of the Lilley Report’s jaundiced view of Newark’s elected leadership were needed, not long after the report was released the city’s Mayor Hugh Addonizio was indicted and convicted on multiple corruption charges at a trial that linked him to organized crime.

Ignoring History

In contrast to the thoughtful, judicious Lilley Report, post-Ferguson analysis has so far failed to dig much deeper than perceived flaws in police tactics  Legal  scholar Gloria J. Browne-Marshall, a professor at John Jay College, says the current level of discourse around the issues raised by Ferguson is sadly diminished by the media’s short attention span. “You can’t get into a deeper conversation about race and the law with four people sharing a three-minute panel format.”

Rutgers Professor Clement Price, Newark’s official historian and one of the nation’s foremost authorities on black history, is more blunt. The analysis requires looking at St. Louis and white flight from an anthropological perspective, he said.

For Price, a common thread of enduring discrimination and resulting alienation from the political system links the Newark of 1967 and the Ferguson of 2014: “They’re predominately black towns but you would not know it from walking into City Hall, the Police Station or the Fire Department.”×254.png

Even today, in both Newark and Ferguson, African-American homeowners are in the midst of a foreclosure crisis that continues to undermine their neighborhoods. While economists proclaim the end of the Great Recession, 54 percent of mortgages in Newark are underwater, with the homeowner owing the bank more than the property is worth. In Ferguson, nearly half the households are underwater.

And yet the fate of the original Lilley Report, and of President Johnson’s Kerner Commission, shows that investigations by themselves can have no effect without the political will to act on their findings.

Two Societies

In 1968 the Kerner Commission warned the country that “our nation” was “moving toward two societies, one black, one white—-separate and unequal.”  The Commission placed much of the blame for urban unrest on systemic white racism. It called for a massive Marshall Plan-like approach to improve economic conditions in African-American communities.

Dr. Martin Luther King hailed the Kerner report as a “physician’s warning of approaching death, with a prescription for life.”  But the report failed to gain traction with President Johnson, who was wholly pre-occupied with the Vietnam War. In April of 1968, after King’s assassination, rioting broke out in over 100 American cities. Yet Johnson still rejected the Kerner Commission’s recommendations. And of course, the Lilley Report failed to get the attention it merited.×231.png

The bizarre images of Ferguson police confronting civil disobedience with Army surplus heavy weaponry may have no direct historical antecedents. But focusing on what is superficially unique, as all too many reporters do, creates a kind of a Narcissism of Now that cuts us off from the lessons of our own history.

Today, tanks and automatic rifles; yesterday, police dogs and fire hoses.

Yes, we have been here before, and with a much higher body count. And we will be here again unless we stop pretending that the racial divide in Obama’s America is a thing of the past.
