transgenderism as social engineering

transgenderism as social engineering

I direct your attention to Chapter Nine’s discussion In Transhumanism: A Grimoire of Alchemical Altars and the Agenda for the Apocalyptic Transformation of Man ( 2011 by Joseph P. Farrell and Scott D. de Hart) [http://feralhouse.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Transhumanism_intro_excerpt.pdf ]

about the Shelley’s and their book about Victor Frankenstein,

as well as the discussion on pages 142-143 that specifically mention the work of the DSO, DARPA’s DARPA, whose mission brief is social engineering, i.e., engendering enough interest in a specific topic that a critical mass of research and researchers will accrue to allow it to come to eventual fruition.

“Its role, in other words, is as a coordinating think tank, much like the Kammerslab of Nazi SS General Hans Kammler during World War II. … DARPA’s chief role is as a projects coordinator, to create a secret community of interaction between scientists secretly investigating radical concepts.” [For more, see http://io9.gizmodo.com/5967896/us-spy-agency-predicts-a-very-transhuman-future-by-2030 ] The footnote notes Farrell’s work [ https://gizadeathstar.com/purchase/ ]  on the ancient Babylonian doctrines with references to alchemical transformation of humanity and human consciousness.

Sofia Smallstorm is interviewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWEGRMKhFkg for almost four hours on transgenderism, transhumanism, and the manipulation of the species.

Henry Makow says here https://www.henrymakow.com/2015/06/Transgenderism-Illuminati-Way-of-Mocking-God.html that Sofia’s approach is secular and fails to mention the Luciferian or Satanic component.

In this article http://www.unz.com/isteve/douthat-the-cult-deficit/  about cults and their role in hijacking “the prestige of science for … anti-scientific purposes in the tradition of Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx, Ayn Rand, and L. Ron Hubbard”, there is a discussion about Bilkderbergers, Peter Thiel, and the Golden Age of science fiction, and “the modern cult of Scientology and the postmodern cult of transgenderism and transhumanism, as exemplified by …Martin/Martine Rothblatt, a founder of satellite radio, and now promoting his/her book Virtually Human…”

“Published in 1970, Firestone’s socialist-feminist manifesto The Dialectic of Sex demands the abolition of gender, the biological family, childhood, and toil. Firestone advocates women seizing control of reproductive technology, employing artificial wombs to separate procreation from body, and creating an egalitarian automated economy based in cybernetics. Firestone’s thought resonates with transhumanism and particularly connects through transsexual inventor and entrepreneur Martine Rothblatt’s 1994 transgender manifesto The Apartheid of Sex. Rothblatt later became a notable figure in the transhumanist movement, making an explicit connection between it and transgenderism.”

“… In her 1995 book Apartheid of Sex [ Westview Press. ISBN 0-517-59997-X. ], biopolitical lawyer and writer Martine Rothblatt describes “transgenderism” as a grassroots political movement seeking transgender rights and affirming transgender pride. For many in the transgender – or “trans” – movement, the label transgender encompasses not only transsexual and transgender people but also transvestites, drag queens, drag kings, intersex individuals, and anyone non-conventionally gendered (i.e., anyone identifying or behaving in a manner that runs counter to expected societal norms concerning the gender assigned them after birth) or sexed (if one includes transsexual people)….”

Transgenderism, Androgyny and Occult Godhood

“… It doesn’t have anything to do with tolerance but indoctrination; it’s because the satanic elite who are behind so much change see androgyny as the ultimate state of being. According to occultists, only gender-neutrals can rise to godhood. The fallen angels they worship are seen as androgynous, and this is driving the modern transgender program. Of course, this is in direct contradiction to God’s word:

Genesis 5:1-2 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them …

This is a long-term goal of the elite, first openly articulated in the work of Saint-Simon (a French social philosopher and reformer) around 1813, which through his disciples led to many of the tenets of Marxism in the mid-nineteenth century. But it really came into its own as an agenda to pursue with the 1893 Parliament of World Religions at the Chicago World’s Fair. This is where the goal of a one-world religion and political system was first embraced openly by organized religion, although the work of Saint-Simon laid the groundwork for the linking of the two areas in modern theory.

On another level, there are plans to undermine traditional Judeo-Christian morality, and to destroy the family and the social structure which requires strong families. In order to bring about a new paradigm, a one-world government and pagan religious structure, it’s first necessary to do away with any sense of traditional values. Because of this, it isn’t just the transgender/gay agenda which is being thrust upon us.

But at a deeper level there’s more than just social transformation going on. This is about spiritual transformation….”

“… transhumanism is an insidious philosophy that rejects the nature of humanity and our natural limitations. By rejecting the nature of man, transhumanism also rejects the inherent dignity of every human being in the process.

In Discover Magazine, transhumanist Kyle Munkittrick laid out his “Seven Conditions for Attaining Transhumanism.” One condition is we leave the traditional ideas about humanity behind and reject being biologically human as a prerequisite for personhood. Munkittrick writes, “When African grey parrots, gorillas and dolphins have the same rights as a human toddler, a transhuman-friendly rights system will be in place.”

Another notable pitfall is that human augmentation will likely result in a world where the enhanced superhumans will rule over the un-enhanced. Those who can afford or have access to enhancements will be the elite, and those who do not or cannot be enhanced will be second-class citizens, especially in the transhumanist world, where personhood and rights are based on everything but natural biology.

Political scientist Francis Fukuyama, when discussing transhumanism as his answer to the greatest threat to humanity, believes the “first victim of transhumanism might be equality.”

Fukuyama writes, “If we start transforming ourselves into something superior, what rights will these enhanced creatures claim, and what rights will they possess when compared to those left behind?”

Transhumanists often insist that a core value of transhumanism is freedom: freedom to choose to do to our bodies what we want. But, in reality, those who are un-enhanced will be coerced into enhancements just to keep up with the elites, a fact that even they will hint at. Kurzweil admits un-enhanced humans will be a rarity because the un-enhanced will be “unable to think fast enough to keep up.”

If these elitist ideas of using science to take the evolution of humanity into our own hands to create a “better human” sound familiar, they should. Transhumanism has its roots in the eugenics movement — the very philosophy that inspired the Holocaust in Germany.

The term “transhumanism” is attributed to Julian Huxley, president of the British Eugenics Society from 1959-1962 and brother of the famous novelist Aldous Huxley. In his 1957 piece “Transhumanism,” Huxley wrote that the human species can “transcend itself” and that when we embrace transhumanism “the human species will be on the threshold of a new kind of existence, as different from ours as ours is from that of Pekin man.”

Even the logo of the Second International Congress of Eugenics proudly proclaimed, “Eugenics is the self-direction of human evolution.” ….”

“The article named “The Transhumanist and Police State Agenda in Pop Music” briefly explored the transhumanist theme of the Black Eyed Peas’ video “Imma Be/Rock that Body”. Vigilant Citizen collaborator LVB expands on this subject and describes the Psychological Warfare techniques used in this video.

The Black Eyed Peas “Imma Be / Rock that Body” video is a masterpiece of high tech computer-generated imagery and state of the art digital music production. It is also one of the most blatant examples of Psychological Warfare and deception that I have ever seen in modern mass media. This article will discuss

1) What Transhumanism actually is.

2) The massive use of Psychological Warfare techniques in this video and all forms of mass media.

3) Analysis of the video, itself – to show you how these psychological concepts, the occult and Transhumanist symbolism and the deceptive storyline are integrated in this video to promote the dangerous agenda of the cult known as Transhumanism.

Transhumanism is the name of a movement that claims to support the use of all forms of technology to improve human beings.  It is far more than just a bunch of harmless and misguided techie nerds, dreaming of sci-fi movies and making robots.

It is a highly organized and well-financed movement that is extremely focused on subverting and replacing every aspect of what we are as human beings – including our physical biology, the individuality of our minds and purposes of our lives – and the replacement of all existing religious and spiritual beliefs with a new religion of their own – which is actually not new at all.

For now, let’s just start at the start.

The Elitist Creators of Transhumanism and Eugenics

“The term ‘Transhumanism‘ was coined by biologist Julian Huxley in 1957, who defined it as “man remaining man, but transcending himself, by realizing new possibilities of and for his human nature.”

Julian Huxley was the brother of Aldous Huxley, who you may know was the author of the very famous book, “Brave New World“, which is a vision of the future that most people view as “The New World Order” (along with the book “1984“, by George Orwell) – a depressing future police-state world in which a one world government uses technology, such as surveillance cameras, psychological warfare (propaganda) and brutal military/police forces to control everyone and everything in this dystopian, fictional world.

The founders of Transhumanism, were highly educated and wealthy individuals of primarily British and European descent. These individuals were what we would call people of the elite, ruling class of society, and their views were absolutely elitist, if not outright totalitarian and fascist in nature.

[snip]

One of the primary concepts of the Transhumanist agenda is “The Hive Mind”.

“Hive Mind : A type of collective consciousness where individuality is stifled; a state of conformity; also written hivemind”.

“A group of people who give the false impression of being a hivemind (1), eg. by mindlessly following orders.”

One of the early Transhumanist elites, along with Julian Huxley, was Sir Charles Galton Darwin, the grandson of Charles Darwin, who founded the theory of evolution.

So, anyway, here is one of Charles Galton Darwin’s quotes relating to the Hive Mind:

“There might be a drug, which, without other harmful effects, removed the urgency of sexual desire, and so, reproduced in humanity the status of workers in a beehive.”

As I said previously, the founders of Transhumanism had elitist views about what humanity should be. This Human Beehive concept has been envisioned by the ruling elite class throughout history as the ideal society. The ultimate slave race, scientifically designed to conform, obey and serve the needs of the elite – worker bees who do not question or rebel.

Transhumanists envision this Hive Mind as being possible when all people across the world can link their minds together using technology, creating a symbiotic existence through the new superintelligence of this collective Hive Mind. Forget about the needs of the individual – it’s all about the Hive. They refer to this collective, superintelligence as the Singularity.

[snip]

“‘Lucifer’ is the Latin term originally used by the Romans to refer to the planet Venus when that planet was west of the sun and hence rose before the sun in the morning, thereby being the morning star.”

“According to Extropian philosopher Max More, “Lucifer is the embodiment of reason, of intelligence, of critical thought. He stands against the dogma of God and all other dogmas. He stands for the exploration of new ideas and new perspectives in the pursuit of truth.” He is also the archetypal iconoclast, rebel, and adversary (the word ‘Satan’ is from a Hebrew word, ‘Sathane’, meaning adversary or culminiator; in original Jewish usage [see the book of Job], Satan is the adversary, not of God, but of mankind; i.e., the angel charged by God with the task of proving that mankind is an unworthy creation). In the transtopian context, Lucifer represents ambition, rebellion, rational enlightenment, and the dark side of Transhumanism.”

Metacommunication

Metacommunication is a natural human communication process, which is as simple as saying, “I love you”, while you are smiling – communication on two levels. Throw in a hug and there are three levels of communicating this positive message.

All communication consists of (at least) two levels. First, there is the “content level” of what is being said, literally. Second, there is the level that Gregory Bateson calls metacommunication, which is the underlying message or tone of the communication, which can be as simple as a facial expression. We often recognize this as being the “tone” of someone’s voice, or how something is being said. So, you have what is being said, and how it is being said. The tone is actually the “command” portion of communication, because it is designed to instruct or position the receiver (or victim) of the communication to interpret the message in a certain way.

Bateson’s communications theory can help reveal the interaction operating behind the message. Every communication, he claims, has both a report [the actual message] and a command aspect [tone]. While the report conveys information about a state of affairs, the command positions the receiver to adopt a particular attitude towards the report and (leads them to) respond in a certain way. The command element of the message is a metacommunication about the context of the message – the nature of the relationship in which the information is exchanged.

Falsified Metacommunication – Mixed Signals and Deception

The point where this becomes falsified metacommunication in mass media is when they include a primary false message in an advertisement or music video, which is designed not only to sell the product, but also to influence the viewer’s attitudes and beliefs.

Daniel Lerner, who was part of the OSS (the predecessor of the CIA), called this the “Black Level” of Psychological Warfare, because it includes:

“Commissions of falsification (lies) intended to deceive the enemy“.

There are many layers of communication in movies, videos, advertising and news media that we usually don’t even realize on a conscious level, and that is what this part of the article and the BEP video are all about.

The term, falsified metacommunication, was coined by anthropologist Richard Herskowitz. It can be understood, in part, using the simple example of a con-man:

He shakes your hand, smiles at you and tells you nice things…as he steals your money.

It is a strategy of deliberately distracting you from his real purpose or goal by using friendly, charming deception. It is saying one thing, as a way of distracting the victim with deception to make them feel comfortable with the situation, in order to do another thing – to achieve the real goal, which is stealing your money.

For example, say there is a magazine ad with a very beautiful female model, but off to the side you can see the makeup artist standing there putting makeup on another model, who looks like she just woke up. They are letting you in on the joke, the artificial nature and deceptive elements of the ad. This makes you realize that you get it, you think that you understand the illusion, and that makes you feel clever, like an insider, and this feeling gives you a sense of reward and ego boost because you feel smart and cool.

This process has the typical effect of getting people to relax and let their guard down a little bit, which leaves them more open to the actual intent of what the ad is trying to do – to sell you some crap that you probably don’t need – and ideas that you may not agree with. This brings us to another tool of manipulation and control in communication, known as a double bind….”

“… The politicization of everything naturally leads to the enforcement of everything. Debates become bitter because the stakes are higher, and we cannot simply agree to disagree.

Dr. Theodore Dalrymple made this point in a 2005 interview when he described political correctness as “communism writ small.”

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better,” Dalrymple said, adding:

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control…..”

Transhumanism and Marxism: Philosophical Connections

James Steinhoff

Department of Information and Media Studies

University of Western Ontario

jsteinh@uwo.ca

Journal of Evolution and Technology – Vol. 24 Issue 2 – May 2014 – pgs 1-16

“…. 47 per cent of people surveyed in the 2007 Interests and Beliefs Survey of the Members of the World Transhumanist Association identified as “left,” though not strictly Marxist (Hughes 2008)….”

“… Proto-transhumanists such as molecular biologist J.D. Bernal and geneticist/evolutionary biologist J.B.S. Haldane were Marxists, Bernal being a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, while Haldane was an external supporter of the Party. Riccardo Campa, chair of the Associazione Italiana Transumanisti (AIT), expresses “only conditional confidence” in the power of markets and asserts that if “market mechanisms do not deliver, we should have to consider socializing what are, from the transhumanist point of view, the key sectors” (Campa 2008)…..”

Conclusion

It is clear that transhumanism and Marxism have some fundamental philosophical similarities. This comparison is admittedly composed of broad strokes and the extent to which the two fields differ is not here emphasized. I hope, however, to have contributed generally to the furtherance of a dialogue between the two fields, and particularly, to the socializing of transhumanism.

https://sansmemetics.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/Gender_Bent-001-1280×640.jpg

“Gender-bending” chemicals mimicking the female hormone oestrogen can disrupt the development of baby boys, suggests the first evidence linking certain chemicals in everyday plastics to effects in humans.

The chemicals implicated are phthalates, which make plastics more pliable in many cosmetics, toys, baby-feeding bottles and paints and can leak into water and food.

All previous studies suggesting these chemicals blunt the influence of the male hormone testosterone on healthy development of males have been in animals. “This research highlights the need for tougher controls of gender-bending chemicals,” says Gwynne Lyons, toxics adviser to the WWF, UK. Otherwise, “wildlife and baby boys will be the losers”.

The incriminating findings came from a study of 85 baby boys born to women exposed to everyday levels of phthalates during pregnancy. It was carried out by Shanna Swan at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, New York, U.S., and colleagues.

As an index of feminisation, she measured the “anogenital distance” (AGD) between the anus and to the base of the penis. She also measured the volume of each boy’s penis. Earlier studies have shown that the AGD is twice in boys what it is in girls, mainly because in boys the hormone testosterone extends the length of the perineum separating the anus from the testicles.

Undescended testicles

In animals, AGD is reduced by phthalates – which mimic oestrogen – which keep testosterone from doing its normal job. At higher doses, animals develop more serious abnormalities such as undescended testicles and misplaced openings to the urethra on the penis – a group of symptoms called “phthalate syndrome” in animals.

When Swan’s team measured concentrations of nine phthalate metabolites in the urine of pregnant women, they found that four were linked with shorter AGD in sons born to women showing high exposure levels.

Although none of the boys developed abnormal genitals, the quarter of mothers who were exposed to the highest concentrations of phthalates were much more likely to have had boys with short AGDs compared with the quarter of mothers who had the lowest exposures to the chemicals.

And although all the boys had genitals classified as “normal”, 21% of the boys with short AGDs had incomplete testicular descent, compared with 8% of other boys. And on average, the smaller the AGD, the smaller the penis.

Changing masculinisation

Swan believes that at higher exposures, boys may suffer from testicular dysgenesis syndrome – the human collection of more serious abnormalities which corresponds to “phthalate syndrome”.

“We’re not exactly seeing testicular dysgenesis syndrome, but a cluster of endpoints consistent with it,” said Swan on at an international conference on Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in San Diego, U.S.

“If you see this, you’re very likely to see every other aspect of masculinisation changed too,” says Fred vom Saal, professor of reproductive biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, U.S.

Vom Saal says this could include behavioural changes like those seen in animals, including an aversion to “rough-and-tumble” play and a reduction in aggressiveness.

Criticising methods

Environmentalists say the results strengthen the case for a ban or restriction on some phthalates in baby toys, as has been proposed in Europe and California.

But phthalate manufacturers maintain that the chemicals have been thoroughly tested and are “safe”. They are also critical of aspects of the study. David Cadogan, director of the European Council for Plasticisers and Intermediates, points out that just one urine sample was taken from each pregnant woman, which cannot rule out drastic variations in exposure over time.

Also, he says that all AGD measurements should have been taken in babies exactly the same age, not in babies ranging from three to 24 months in age as in the study. The disparity in ages meant that complicated mathematical analyses had to be applied which may have made it more difficult to distinguish genuine differences in AGD from differences accounted for by age or weight.

Swan’s results will appear in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives.

engineering human evolution

engineering human evolution

Several weeks ago, a book about recipes for summoning demons and the agendas of those who practice alchemy arrived on my doorstep.

Music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs-23ALB_Tw

It was an explanation by several advanced students of deep theologies of the depths and depravities of attempts to improve the human condition by radically modifying and tinkering with the human condition.

Such experiments and theories, the authors explain, are apparently as old as the ages and show up dominantly in the hidden depths.  They are also present, though large hidden on purpose from our view, in today’s society and culture.  Like most of Joseph Farrell’s books, this is not light reading. Some call this kind of stuff alternative history, but that’s a kind brushing aside of the importance of the deep research that has been done and which he brings to the surface. On the timeline of history, Farrell and his co-author go way way back in order to help you see the trends into the future.  I highly commend the book to your bookshelf so that you may peer into the past, but I am going to zero in on a phrase or term he used on page 136 and discussed for another six or seven pages as the vehicle to assist you in seeing more clearly what’s happening right now and what it’s implications are for the future. [See also http://www.lulu.com/shop/joseph-p-farrell-and-scott-d-de-hart/dialogues-1-transhumanism-in-dialogue/paperback/product-21238670.html ]

Farrell was brought to my attention because I regularly read the blog over at the Solari Project, Catherine Austin Fitts’ private enterprise that teaches people to see and track where the money goes. I got very interested in what Fitts had to say after I’d read her on the topic of 9/11 (she was saying “follow the money” before all the dust had settled in Manhattan), on the topic of narcodollars, and most notably her treatise on the politics of the recent past known as Dunwalke.  As part of her development work, she once hired me to help her think through the possibilities of developing a board game, maybe a latter-day version of Monopoly in which people could see how bankers and others extracted financial value from a community and to teach them how to spend, act and shape their own home towns in an assertive and protective manner.  I failed that assignment though she paid me the $500 fee anyway, and I turned that money into a life-changing trip down the backside of the Appalachian ridge where I discovered much. She however went on more deeply into Solari Circles, the “Coming Clean” campaign and has since worked with others (including Farrell)  to to track covert budgets, an effort that gets updated under the term “Space-based Economy”.

and especially

The concept of a breakaway civilization is discussed on page 147 in Farrell’s “Transhumanism”, but we really need to step back at least one or two steps for the idea of a “breakaway civilization” comes into focus.

It’s the section of the book that runs from page 135 to 147 that will form the fuel of this blog entry.

The key phrase in particular?: The “GRIN technologies”. I was skimming when I encountered that and immediately went back to find the first reference: what are the GRIN technologies? The acronym stands for Genetic, Robotic, Information, and Nanotechnology.

Genetic technologies, the manipulation by humans of an organism’s genome, have exploded onto the scene in the fields of medicine, food, warfare, the development of laboratory chimera.

Robotics are transforming industry and warfare, aeronautics and space travel, health services including surgery, terrestrial and extra-terrestrial exploration and mining, and in the home environment.

Information technologies have been with us for decades and are now foreseen within a digital revolution including “algorithms, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, statistical probability matrices and” the acceleration of learning, the “smartness” inherent in the “evolving nexus of forces” (‘clouds’, social, mobile and information all coming together). “Desktop” has given way to ‘smart’ phones, androids, pads,  and similar devices and social media wherein information will become a commodity like electricity. Learning about data mining has been a growth industry for years.

Nanotechnology is, according to Wikipedia, the “manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale”. “Nanotechnology as defined by size is naturally very broad, including fields of science as diverse as surface science, organic chemistry, molecular biology, semiconductor physics, microfabrication, molecular engineering, etc.”

… While the international transhumanist movement has existed for decades, it’s been growing like wildfire in the last 18 months. Media coverage of transhumanism has tripled in the last year according to the Institute of Ethics and Emerging Technologies. Transhumanism is featured in a number of recent blockbuster Hollywood movies, including Transcendence, Lucy, and Oscar-winning Her. And a younger generation—many in high school and college—appear to be embracing it….

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/transhumanist-a-conspiracy-theory-problem

If your brain can’t get its synapses around the convergence of these four concepts/technologies, then you surely can understand the concept of a “breakaway civilization” and the fact that some current corporations and governments will work very hard to inform, educate, train and harness financial and other energies and to prevent others from knowing about them and what the powers that be are doing and plan to do with them. That’s why you should be interested in what Fitts and Farrell have to say. The powers that be hasten to effect their escape, leaving the less-fortunate, the not-wealthy, the less informed, the “useless eaters”, to face a world that they have set on a course toward self-destruction.

In Neal Stephenson’s 2015 novel Seveneves, survivors of a worldwide holocaust are tasked with seeding new life on a dormant Earth. Rather than create specific breeds of animals to be hunters, scavengers, or prey, species like “canids” are developed with mutable epigenetic traits, with the intention that the animals would quickly transform into the necessary roles that would be required for an ecosystem to rapidly evolve. Additionally, a race of humans, “Moirans,” are created to survive in space, with the hope that this subspecies of human would be able to adapt to unforeseeable dangers and circumstances, via an epigenetic process called “going epi”.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetics

Two important references noted by Farrell and de Hart in their book are Joel Garreau’s Radical Evolution: The Promise and Peril of Enhancing Our Minds, Our Bodies — and What It Means to be Human, and Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology.

Garreau notes that the GRIN technologies overlap and intermingle to create a “curve of change unlike anything we humans have ever seen and that each of them, taken individually, are transformative and “each hold the potential to change human nature itself.”  Farrell and de Hart cite Kurzweil when they say that “taken together, or engineered or employed in various combinations, the transformation is even more sweeping”; it is alchemical.

The target, says Garreau, is the very essence of man’s nature. “The goal is to seamlessly merge mind and machine, engineering human evolution so as to directly project and amplify the power of our thoughts throughout the universe.”

Are you a transhumanist?  Take the test here:

http://indiafuturesociety.org/transhumanist-take-test/

The leading transhumanist might once have been thought to be Ray Kurzweil, computer scientist, inventor and futurist involved in fields such as optical character recognition (OCR), text-to-speech synthesis, speech recognition technology, and electronic keyboard instruments. He has written books on health, artificial intelligence (AI), transhumanism, the technological singularity, and futurism. Says Wikipedia: “Kurzweil is a public advocate for the futurist and transhumanist movements, and gives public talks to share his optimistic outlook on life extension technologies and the future of nanotechnology, robotics, and biotechnology…. Kurzweil has authored seven books, five of which have been national bestsellers. The Age of Spiritual Machines has been translated into 9 languages and was the #1 best-selling book on Amazon in science. Kurzweil’s book The Singularity Is Near was a New York Times bestseller, and has been the #1 book on Amazon in both science and philosophy…. He maintains the news website KurzweilAI.net …. he is quoted in the documentary Transcendent Man as saying that the household always produced discussions about the future and technology…. In December 2012, Kurzweil was hired by Google in a full-time position to “work on new projects involving machine learning and language processing”. … Kurzweil’s book, How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed, was released on Nov. 13, 2012.”

But Ray isn’t running for President under the banner of the transhumanist party; that honor goes to Zoltan Istvan, “an American journalist[2] and transhumanist. He writes transhumanist-themed columns: “The Transhumanist Philosopher” a blog for Psychology Today and “Transhumanist Future” for Vice’s Motherboard. He has also worked as a reporter for the National Geographic Channel and is a blogger of futurist, transhumanist, and atheist topics for The Huffington Post.  He is the author of The Transhumanist Wager, a philosophical science fiction novel….”

Note the backgrounds and histories of both Kurzweil and Istvan and their self-proclaimed spiritual/religious identities, as well as their personal perspectives and approaches to immortality.

“… the ultimate goal of transhumanism is nothing less than the scientific and technological reversal of the Tower of Babel Moment of History, of The Fall of Man, and the alchemical ascent back up the scala caeli, the ladder to heaven…. The implications of this are … breathtaking.  At the head of the list is the alchemical fusion of man and mineral in the form of implanted computer chips to “enhance” the abilities of humans to interface directly with computers…. Any human being — a microcosm — will be capable of becoming a macrocosm, of literally stretching out to control [something millions of miles away.]. The next step is toward true computer-enhanced telepathy and interface…, to seamlessly merge mind and machine, engineering human evolution so as to to directly project and amplify the power of thought throughout the universe.” [page 138, Farrell and de Hart]

It is, according to Kurzweil, tantamount to reverse-engineering the human brain. “Indeed, as he points out, the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, based in Munich, has already engineered a computer chip that allows human neurons to be grown on a computer chip, directly interfacing with it, [as well as] technologies that allow it to detect when specific neurons are fired [and] allow them to cause or prevent certain neurons from firing, in short, to modify human consciousness and behavior directly via computer implants.” [page 139, Farrell and de Hart]

In the transhumanist theory, the world-wide web will become a super-brain or super-consciousness long ago envisioned by Nicola Tesla. “[H]ow does one maintain one’s individuality and freedom in such a world, given the ability of these technologies to directly modify memory, behavior, and individual consciousness? [See BoyDownTheLane.com/metabolization.] And who will be the “system administrators” and “operators” in this brave new world? What is being engineered, in other words, is literally the technological version of the corporate person, where it is no longer a legal metaphor, but a technological reality, a single “distributed and interconnected brain…”. The referenced source is the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Commerce [where Penny Pritzker is the chief]. [The book notes the afore-mentioned Garreau book which in turn references Converging Technologies for Improving Human Performance [http://www.wtec.org/ConvergingTechnologies/Report/NBIC_report.pdf ]as well as Gregory Stock’s Redesigning Humans and Metaman.]

The potential military applications are discussed by Farrell and de Hart, especially DARPA’s Continuous Assisted Performance component of their “super-soldier” program, on page 141 through 143. The mission brief of the Defense Sciences Office, described as the DARPA inside DARPA, a coordinating think tank not unlike those used by Nazi Germany, a “secret community of interaction between scientists secretly investigating radical concepts”, in some senses a “breakway civilization” itself, the enhanced isolated from the rest of us, is this: The elite engineered group of new humans will be able to think faster an more creatively, have near-photographic memories, read books with total recall and comprehension in minutes, repair their own bodies and maintain peak health, live longer, require less sleep, and communicate more quickly with greater clarity to allow coordinated action in shorter time periods.

Three scenarios are envisioned [page 145]  in the long run:

  1. The “Heaven” scenario, in which the emerging technologies portend a being and blissful future of longevity, of work as play, of sweeping extensions of human group consciousness not only globally but on a cosmic scale;
  2. The “Hell” scenario, in which the same technologies lead humanity to a cart strophic end, due to accidental leaks of deadly viruses, or cataclysmic wars utilizing new weapons, or through simple inability of human society and humans to cope with the sweeping changes as old institutions break down under th technological weight, and crumble into anarchy;
  3. The “Prevail” scenario is, as might be expected, a mixture of the previous twp, full of promise, to be sure, but also of reverses and setbacks, until ultimately, humanity makes choices regarding the technologies, and “muddles through”.

There is much much more in the book; I highly recommend your reading it and/or learning as much as possible as soon as possible about its topics.

I’ve left this in autoplay: there are two documentaries which follow totaling 80 minutes.

Here’s a map showing “the locations (by zipcode) of companies, universities, government laboratories, and organizations working in nanotechnology around the United States.”

Information technologies will not be covered in detail here; you could probably make your own list, starting with the NSA, including IBM, Apple, et al.  If you need further help, here’s Fortune’s list for 2015.

What are the psychic, cognitive and spiritual energies for scientific development of transhumanism?

A slow and reading of Transhumanism by Farrell and de Hart will give you the deep history from past millennia.  I would also recommend the books by Antony C. Sutton and the edited tome by Kris Millegan on Skull & Bones, as well as Terry Melanson’s detailed and footnoted book called “Perfectibilists”. Jonathan Moreno’s book “Mindwars” is noted in “Alarumed” below under Further Reading.

Who provided the venture capital? Other than business off-shoots created by the CIA, you’ll likely find billionaire transhumanists who are into eugenics, starting with the Rockefellers, and Bill Gates, the very rich fellow who climbed to the top of the information technology heap.

I don’t have a list of the definitive and unbleached histories of the Rockefellers and others of their era and ilk, but the reading list at the bottom of a llong excerpt from Eustace Mullins’ book “Murder by Injection” also notes Tarbell, Coleman, Sutton and others.  Here is Chapter ten of that book: http://fr.bio.medecine.narkive.com/pfIwt9hY/murder-by-injection-the-rockefeller-syndicate

According to Wikipedia, transhumanism is sometimes abbreviated as H+ or h+.

Lies and Obfuscation

oswald-life-cover

Lies and Obfuscation

We live in a world which is purposely seeded with lies and obfuscation, as evidenced by the domestic propaganda produced by the National Geographic to convince the broad public that the Tsarnaev brothers really were the culprits who placed backpacks carrying pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, allowing a massive re-direction of attention away from the fact that the brothers had been “handled” by CIA operatives, that private military contractors (some of which may have been equipped with new secretive hand-held surveillance technologies) were not present on the scene, etc etc.

Obfuscation was recently documented as well in the fact that the tail numbers on the aircraft (supposedly one-of-a-kind indicators) used by human traffickers were duplicates. (See this PDF: Madsen on Epstein, Dyncorp et al ).

The purposeful creation of made-for-public-consumption falsehood has been well-documented by numerous investigators in the infamous Sandy Hook hoax.

Even astute well-informed readers can do some quick research to show that newly-created corporations engaged for the national security are the same old organizations deeply integrated into past events; they simply re-invent themselves at least in name and show up to act and then evaporate.

An author by the name of George Michael Evica published a book in 2006 that reached back into World War Two to show the genesis of this kind of activity and who was involved. Originally published by Alibris as a massively-footnoted and often repetitive examination for historians and investigators of the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and then edited down for the general reader by Kris Millegan for his stable of books at Trineday.com, “A Certain Arrogance” is a series of “eight essays on the history of international intelligence (primarily U.S. espionage), on Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles and their manipulation of religious groups and individuals to achieve U.S. elitist goals, on the development of U.S. psychological warfare operations, and on the manipulative creation of the patsy in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The focus on the manipulation of religion is ongoing today, as seen here and here. You can spot other historical examples as well as those appearing in ongoing events.

It is my desire and intent that by posting selected excerpts from Evica’s “A Certain Arrogance”, you the reader will be better equipped to smell out the purposeful advancement of made-for-public-consumption of falsehood.

I trust that the Evica family and the inimitable Charles Drago will forgive me my excesses.

I am not going to suggest that my selective focus on a limited number of essays is going to or should replace your own reading of this book. Editing by definition lends its own spin, unintentional or sub-conscious as it might be. Authors and investigators and bloggers must remain open to the analyses of others; we only strengthen one another in the search for clarity.

If you buy the book, a long glance through the bibliography will provide you further direction and fodder. I’ve pinpointed over 25 excerpts, the latter ones quite long, as they fall into the fifth and sixth essays.

In PDF format, here are the excerpts:    Certain Arrogance

‘Splainin’ “Lucy”: Transhumanism

‘Splainin’ “Lucy”:

An In-Depth look at the Besson/Johannsson vehicle and its

Transhumanist ‘Enlightening’ Entertainment

The film “Lucy”, written and directed by Luc Besson, is breaking into box-office buzz this weekend.  The trailer has been out for at least two week, the film is now showing, and the reviews are popping up like sunflowers in Provence in summertime.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FpDn7n1aqbc/U8CEeznnxOI/AAAAAAABYUM/hFGh8oPIxlE/s800/Scarlett+Johansson+Lucy+movie+billboard.jpg

Dana Stevens, in Slate’s article Überfrau calls it “trippy transhumanist sci-fi fantasy”.

I haven’t seen the film, though I have watched the trailer. To “review” a film I haven’t seen is a bit audacious; call it remote viewing if necessary: I’m simply exercising my expanding synaptic junctions.

I will admit to some prejudicial opinion on several counts:

  • I am not a fan of Scarlett Johansson, despite much recognition of her as “one of Hollywood’s modern sex symbols”;
  • I’m immediately suspicious of a film that understands that its scientific under-pinnings are patently false (or at least that the audience will come to that conclusion); and
  • I am immediately alarmed by its premise that the human being and its brain can be accelerated through the use external agents.

Here are some essential links in the event that you have just beamed yourself back from some extra-terrestrial Club Med vacation spent scuba-diving in the Ligeia Mare.

Make what you will of your own first impressions.

“… Lucy is also an extremely wacky, zippy action thriller that bats around a lot of big concepts without going too deep, which might just be a roundabout way of calling it dumb…. Time Out’s Keith Uhlich said the film spends way too much time on “Z-grade intellectual components” which left him “feeling shorn of grey matter.” …Amy Nicholson of the Village Voice said the movie “feigns at depth” filled with technical mumbo-jumbo to justify its nonsensical plot turns…..”

http://www.thewire.com/entertainment/2014/07/is-lucy-being-criticized-as-dumb-because-its-about-being-smart/375053/

“… The first image we see is that of a cell dividing; these days biology is as hot a discipline on-screen as off. The narrative itself cleaves between Lucy’s evolution and an exposition of science and pseudoscience that’s conveyed in a lecture-hall setting by a brain researcher named Prof. Samuel Norman “lending scientific and philosophical gravitas” [C. Orr in The Atlantic]. The professor is played, with honeyed orotundity, by Morgan Freeman, and his lecture on cerebral efficiency is illustrated with exuberant multimedia. Mr. Freeman [one of the NWO’s leading actors, along with Samuel L. Jackson] is an actor of such unassailable authority that he could make a case for two plus two equaling pi if the script required it…..

Ms. Johansson has played aspects of this role in the recent past—as the nameless, womanlike creature in “Under the Skin”; as Samantha, the vocal soul of a smartphone’s operating system in “Her” …”

http://online.wsj.com/articles/film-review-lucy-1406223686

“The guy who narrates the Science Channel show “Through the Wormhole” must know what he’s talking about, right?” [WaPo]

“… We watch as an early hominid, Australopithecus, drinks water from a stream a few million years ago. In voiceover, Johansson asks us, “Life was given to us a billion years ago. What have we done with it?” [C. Orr in The Atlantic]

The film, by name and with its own early flickering tip of the cap, alludes to several hundred pieces of bone from the skeleton of a female Australopithecus afarensis, discovered Awash in Ethiopia.

“The skeleton shows evidence of small skull capacity akin to that of apes and of bipedal upright walk akin to that of humans, supporting the debated view that bipedalism preceded increase in brain size in human evolution.[5][6]

“In her Ethiopian homeland, Lucy is called “dinknesh,” which means “the wondrous one.”[7]

The discovery team “nicknamed the fossil AL 288-1 as Lucy, after the Beatles‘ song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds“, which was being played loudly and repeatedly on a tape recorder in the camp.[3]”

Scientific historian Londa Schiebinger questions the claim that Johanson’s team made concerning Lucy’s gender, citing that they wrote “the pelvic opening in hominids has to be proportionately larger in females than in males to allow for the birth of larger-brained infants.” Contradicting this evidence was the timing of development of large hominid brains. Schiebinger continues to critique the assumptions made concerning Lucy’s gender based upon the skeleton’s size.[27]”

The team that found the upright hominid included “Donald Johanson, an American anthropologist and curator at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, who later became the Founding Director of Berkeley, California’s Institute of Human Origins, now part of Arizona State University [see https://iho.asu.edu]; Mary Leakey, the noted famous British archaeologist; and Yves Coppens, a French-born paleontologist now based at the Collège de France…..”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_(Australopithecus)

The film becomes “an attempt to chart humankind from its finite prehistoric age to the era of a fully evolved Homo sapien [sic] with 100% brain capacity — what Besson calls “the ultimate cell.”

“”We put a big piece of paper on the wall,” says Besson, “and we wrote 10%, 20%, 30%, all the way to 100% — and then I filled the entire paper with what she can do and can’t do at each level. It was almost like a checklist before you take off on a plane. So every morning when Scarlett knew which scene we were doing, she would just refer to the big piece of paper on the wall….”

The movie “Lucy” might be seen as a metaphor for female empowerment — a globalist political movement these days — but the original “Lucy” might not have been female.

“Thank goodness that primitive woman has now evolved — into a bleached blonde, airheaded student of some sort, living in Taiwan.” (JOCELYN NOVECK AP National Writer @ ABC News)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/14/Lucy_(2014_film)_poster.jpg

The role of Lucy [IMDB] was first given to Jon Voight’s daughter, the internationalist spokesperson for refugees. CFR-member Angelina Jolie.

“Since its founding at the 2007 Clinton Global Initiative, Jolie has co-chaired the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which funds education programs for children affected by disaster.[104]In its first year, the partnership supported education projects for Iraqi refugee children, youth affected by the Darfur conflict, and girls in rural Afghanistan, among other affected groups.[104] The partnership has worked closely with the Council on Foreign Relations Center for Universal Education—founded by the partnership’s co-chair, noted economist Gene Sperling—to establish education policies, which resulted in recommendations made to UN agencies, G8 development agencies, and the World Bank.[105] Jolie joined the Council on Foreign Relations in June 2007.[106]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jolie

Jolie’s humanitarian work earned her further recognition when a species of trapdoor spiders “who seize their prey after leaping out of their burrows and inject it with venom was named after her.

Here’s her interview with an Israeli journalist about “the conflict in Israel”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSQ1PvGEjPk (1:49)

And see these three articles by Debbie Schlussel, who gave “Lucy” “half a Reagan”:

And these two by the blog “Hollywood Jew” at the Jewish Journal

…. But this isn’t about Angelina Jolie.

Lucy is an English and French feminine given name derived from Latin masculine given name Lucius with the meaning as of light (born at dawn or daylight, maybe also shiny, or of light complexion)….

“We upload our lives to the cloud, Google pours it into the Knowledge Graph to feed the algorithm, applies natural language parsing, and the Singularity, that moment when digital devices become more intelligent than humans, draws close.

But is the real story that machines and humans are meeting in the middle? Are we evolving to become plugged into the great digital cortex to become hybrid- humanoids? It’s a subject that’s fascinated Luc Besson, director of the new movie Lucy, for over a decade, and his film is astonishing.

Besson spent time with world-renowned neurologist Yves Agid, who co-founded the Brain & Spine Institute (ICM) in Paris, to learn how cells communicate with each other and what cerebral capacity could be unleashed if the human brain’s 86 billion densely packed neurons fired at once.,,, As her brain capacity increases, Lucy slips through the doors of perception and into the matrix, sees mobile telephony signals rendered in 3D, defies gravity, attains telepathy, telekinesis and control over mind, matter, and time travel…. Besson goes mystic as Lucy’s brain expands. She feels trees “grow,” senses peoples’ thoughts, and accesses their memory banks. We move, briefly, into the Buddhist realm of meditating monks who control their metabolism and experience infinite space…. Right now, performance-enhancing drugs like anabolic steroids contain synthetic forms of testosterone to build strength and increase muscle mass. People with depression are treated with mood-altering chemical combinations that target NMDA receptors in the brain, increasing serotonin levels. Parkinson’s disease can be managed with electrodes implanted in the brain to keep it firing smoothly. And a company called Neural Signals in Georgia does invasive brain-machine interfacing to allow “locked-in” paraplegics to control robotic arms.

Meanwhile, neuroscientist Michael Weisend Ph.D., uses trans-cranial direct current (TCDC) to effectively “shock” subjects with healthy brains to target preferred neural networks for specific tasks, thereby significantly enhancing motor skills. Partially funded by DARPA, studies showed increased accuracy in snipers hitting targets.

So if humans are becoming advanced through pharmaceuticals and modern electro-shock techniques, while digital devices achieve levels of sophistication in “understanding” through data-mining and natural language processing, are we not meeting in the middle?

The sticking point with scientists has always been how one defines consciousness. Ray Kurzweil, now Director of Engineering at Google, has always argued that machines and people are not so different.

“… importing that level of heavy-handed montaging onto a sci-fi film requires you to get your scientific theories straight, or at least have a great character as a foil. Unfortunately, the script is a weird tangle of evolutionary psychology and bootleg transhumanism, falling back on booming pseudo-profundities like “humans are more concerned with having than being” and “we never really die.”

Myth-use of the human brain:

http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Maximum_Brain_Capacity

Neurologist Barry Gordon describes [the 10% of brain use] myth as laughably false, adding, “we use virtually every part of the brain, and that [most of] the brain is active almost all the time.”[1] Neuroscientist Barry Beyerstein sets out seven kinds of evidence refuting the ten percent myth:[12]

•Studies of brain damage: If 90% of the brain is normally unused, then damage to these areas should not impair performance. Instead, there is almost no area of the brain that can be damaged without loss of abilities. Even slight damage to small areas of the brain can have profound effects.

•Brain scans have shown that no matter what one is doing, brains are always active. Some areas are more active at any one time than others, but barring brain damage, there is no part of the brain that is absolutely not functioning.

•The brain is enormously costly to the rest of the body, in terms of oxygen and nutrient consumption. It can require up to 20% of the body’s energy—more than any other organ—despite making up only 2% of the human body by weight.[13][14] If 90% of it were unnecessary, there would be a large survival advantage to humans with smaller, more efficient brains. If this were true, the process of natural selection would have eliminated the inefficient brains. It is also highly unlikely that a brain with so much redundant matter would have evolved in the first place.

•Brain imaging: Technologies such as positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) allow the activity of the living brain to be monitored. They reveal that even during sleep, all parts of the brain show some level of activity. Only in the case of serious damage does a brain have “silent” areas.

•Localization of function: Rather than acting as a single mass, the brain has distinct regions for different kinds of information processing. Decades of research have gone into mapping functions onto areas of the brain, and no function-less areas have been found.

•Microstructural analysis: In the single-unit recording technique, researchers insert a tiny electrode into the brain to monitor the activity of a single cell. If 90% of cells were unused, then this technique would have revealed that.

•Neural disease: Brain cells that are not used have a tendency to degenerate. Hence if 90% of the brain were inactive, autopsy of adult brains would reveal large-scale degeneration.

Another argument is that, given the historical risk of death in childbirth associated with the large brain size (and therefore skull size) of humans,[15] there would be a strong selection pressure against such a large brain size if only 10% was actually in use.

“… The plot rests on a premise that even director Luc Besson admits is bogus: that average humans use only 10 percent of their brain capacity.

“It’s one of the most popular misconceptions in biology,” Christof Koch, chief scientific officer for the Allen Institute for Brain Science, told NBC News…..

Researchers at the University of Oxford took the other side of the argument in a paper published Thursday by PLOS Genetics: Their computer analysis of genetic information from a variety of mammals suggested that only 8.2 percent of the more than 2 billion bits of chemical code in the human genome was functional…..

Every week seems to bring fresh findings about the role played by non-coding DNA. For example:

•A study in this week’s issue of Nature reports that non-coding mutations appear to have an impact on the development of colorectal cancer. “We applied this completely innovative methodology to colorectal cancer, but it can be applied to understand the genetic basis of all sorts of cancers,” the University of Geneva’s Emmanouil Dermitzakis said in a news release.

•A study in Genome Biology reports a linkage between activity in non-coding DNA and RNA and the development of brain tumors — suggesting that “junk DNA” may serve as a type of cellular long-term memory. “This could also explain explain why the health effects caused by exposure to hazardous environmental substances often do not emerge until years later,” Jörg Hackermüller of the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research said in a news release…..”

http://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/beyond-lucy-10-percent-brain-myth-debunked-how-about-junk-n164286

NPR’s review points out thata suspiciously well-informed Movie Doctor has the duty of explaining to ScarJo that the stuff in her system is in fact a synthetic version of a chemical expectant mothers produce naturally to nourish the babies in their wombs”, which extends the BS factor and adds to the tendency to think that improvement stems from pharmaceuticals (or experiences with street drugs like Ecstasy). [Astute observers understand that, in many cases, there is little difference between the way that designers drugs marketed and how new BigPharmaCeuticals are marketed; we should probably ask the former Wite House aide and SecDef (and top 9/11 suspect) aboutaspartame.]

“A survey last year by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research found that 65 percent of Americans believe the myth is true, 5 percent more than those who believe in evolution. Even Mythbusters, which declared the statistic a myth a few years ago, further muddied the waters: The show merely increased the erroneous 10 percent figure and implied, incorrectly, that people use 35 percent of their brains. Like most legends, the origin of this fiction is unclear, though there are some clues. According to Sam Wang, a neuroscientist at Princeton and the author of Welcome to Your Brain, the catalyst may have been the self-help industry. In the early 1900s, William James, one of the most influential thinkers in modern psychology, famously said that humans have unused mental potential. This completely reasonable assertion was later revived, in mangled form, by the writer Lowell Thomas in his foreword to the 1936 self-help bible How To Win Friends And Influence People. “Professor William James of Harvard used to say that the average person develops only 10 percent of his latent mental ability,” Thomas wrote. It appears that he, or perhaps someone else in his day, simply plucked the golden number out of the sky.

The 10 percent claim is demonstrably false on a number of levels. First, the entire brain is active all the time. The brain is an organ. Its living neurons, and the cells that support them, are always doing something. (Where’s the “you only use 10 percent of your spleen” myth?) Joe LeDoux, a professor of neuroscience and psychology at NYU, thinks that people today may be thrown off by the “blobs”—the dispersed markers of high brain activity—seen in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the human brain. These blobs are often what people are talking about when they refer to the brain “lighting up.”

Say you’re watching a movie in an fMRI scanner. Certain areas of your brain—the auditory and visual cortices, for instance—will be significantly more active than others; and that activity will show up as colored splotches when the fMRI images are later analyzed. These blobs of significant activity usually cover small portions of the brain image, often less than 10 percent, which could make it seem, to the casual observer, that the rest of the brain is idling. But, as LeDoux put it to me in an email, “the brain could be one hundred percent active during a task with only a small percentage of brain activity unique to the task….

[T]he 10-percent myth, compared with other fantasies, is especially pernicious. It has a distinct air of scientific plausibility—it’s a zippy one-liner with a nice round number, a virus with obvious vectors in pop-psychology books, easy to repeat at cocktail parties. The myth is also part of a larger way of thinking about the brain that is characterized by misleading simplifications—like the notion that the right side of the brain is creative and the left side rational. “Those kinds of ideas self-perpetuate,” LeDoux told me. “It’s like saying dopamine is responsible for pleasure and the amygdala makes fear. Both are wrong.”

Neuroscience is still in its adolescence, but it is all too often served to the public as a more mature field. …”

Slice from that article:

Transhumanism is the name of a movement that claims to support the use of all forms of technology to improve human beings.  It is far more than just a bunch of harmless and misguided techie nerds, dreaming of sci-fi movies and making robots.

It is a highly organized and well financed movement that is extremely focused on subverting and replacing every aspect of what we are as human beings – including our physical biology, the individuality of our minds and purposes of our lives – and the replacement of all existing religious and spiritual beliefs with a new religion of their own – which is actually not new at all.

These individuals were what we would call people of the elite, ruling class of society, and their views were absolutely elitist, if not outright totalitarian and fascist in nature.”

“Besson clearly understands that the film’s central myth endures because people are intrigued by the prospect of activating our whole heads. He runs with that idea full-tilt and at top speed, even if it means turning Lucy into a walking X-ray machine/broadcast network/telekinetic demigod. It’s possible to be swept away by the fun in all that, but only if you’re capable of silencing the messages bubbling through your own gray matter and ignoring the inevitable questions. Like this one: If Johansson’s Lucy has such command of her mental faculties that she is, essentially, the most enlightened being on the planet, shouldn’t she be able to figure out how to get what she wants without causing so much destruction and loss of life?”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/goingoutguide/lucy-movie-review-scarlett-johanssons-powerful-mind-unlocked-and-ready-to-kill

“… if Lucy can control movement and space and time, why can’t she expand the 24 hours? And really, why does she need to fly commercial to Paris?” (JOCELYN NOVECK AP National Writer @ ABC News)

http://enemyindustry.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/transhumanist-biopolitics.png

“… Scarlett Johansson as sublime portal to the posthuman future: That seems to be a thing lately, whether she’s playing a fast-evolving digital intelligence in Her, a deadly space alien disguised as a human being in Under the Skin, or whatever combination of Neo and the Terminator she’s supposed to embody here. It’s easy to see why one would cast Johansson in such a role. Her combination of earthy sensuality with cool, cerebral remove—not to mention the best husky female voice since Kathleen Turner—makes it entirely plausible that Johansson might, in fact, have been designed by alien overlords to lure men to their deaths in featureless black rooms, as her character does in the bone-chilling Under the Skin. But Besson’s Lucy, for all its whoa-dude-my-mind-is-blown aspirations, is too dumb to engage either Johansson’s intelligence or the viewer’s.”

“[A]s a result of biomedical advances, we are facing the possibility of a future in which our humanity itself will be altered beyond recognition”, says Francis Fukuyama in Our Posthuman Future: Consequences of the Biotechnology Revolution; “he ability to manipulate the DNA of all of one person’s descendants will have profound, and potentially terrible, consequences for our political order, even if undertaken with the best of intentions.”

Singularity: Reading our genes like computer code

Biological life spreads in the biological-chemical world, computer codes can spread in the digital computer world. That is a rule – no self-replicator has ever overcome the digital-biological barrier. Until today. Here I show a method how a digital computer code can infect biological DNA, thus spread in the biological-chemical world. The method is mainly based on the fantastic research by the J. Craig Venter Institute on synthetic life, and might ask new questions about the definition of life itself.”

Lucy DNA sequence quality and vector trimming tool

Lucy was designed and written at The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR, now the J. Craig Venter Institute), and it has been used here for several years to clean sequence data from automated DNA sequencers prior to sequence assembly and other downstream uses.

The quality trimming portion of Lucy makes use of phred quality scores, such as those produced by many automated sequencers based on the Sanger sequencing method.  As such, Lucy’s quality trimming may not be appropriate for sequence data produced by some of the new “next-generation” sequencers.

Lucy is available in the form of a software download only.  I currently have no plans to create an open-source community development project for Lucy.  If you think that would be valuable, please contact me about it.  In the meantime, the download package includes the full source code, so feel free to customize it for your environment.

You can download the lucy distribution from our SourceForge, net project page.

Lucy is described in the following publication:

Hui-Hsien Chou and Michael H. Holmes (2001) DNA sequence quality trimming and vector removal. Bioinformatics 17: 1093-1104.

One of the authors of Lucy has developed Lucy2, which adds a GUI interface to Lucy.  It is available separately, here:

(Note that Lucy2 is not included with the lucy download package.)

“… Lucy is a “humanzee”: half human, half bonobo. Lucy soon becomes a magnet for the controversy that has colored debates between creationists and evolutionists for decades, as well as an object of interest to a clandestine military think tank.”

SIMON: Does the name Lucy mean what a lot of people will think it does, referring to what’s often identified as the first human Lucy?

Mr. GONZALES: Yeah. Actually, recently there was an older – 4.4 million, I believe, year-old skeleton found. So, Lucy’s been kicked off her throne. But the answer is twofold. One is in the book Lucy’s father says, I didn’t name you for that. I named you because Lucy means light. And so, that’s his reason.

My reason for choosing the name, however, is the Australopithecine that you’re referring to.

Here’s an indiewire write-up that attempts to sum it all up:

“… Love it or hate it — and you’ll have plenty of company either way — Luc Besson’s “Lucy,” which is predicted to capture the box office this weekend, is a singularly eccentric vision. Part of the fun of reading reviews of the movie is watching critics (including this one) try and describe what BuzzFeed’s Alison Willmore aptly calls “a future stoner classic.”

Wesley Morris, Grantland: “It’s as if Besson sat through a half-hour of Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life,’ hit fast-forward, and thought, I can do that but with drugs and guns and car chases.”

Chris Klimek, NPR: “‘Lucy’ does for recreational drugs what ‘The Fantastic Four’ did for Gamma Rays. If the overdose is massive enough and the dope powerful enough, it unlocks doors previously accessible only to those who’ve read ‘The Secret.’ Or ‘Flowers for Algernon.'”

David Edelstein, New York: “As our descendants evolve, colonize more of their own brains, and approach the man-machine singularity, filmmakers can continue to add onto ‘Lucy,’ and then some critic can add on to the end of this review because we’ll never evolve beyond movie criticism.”

Fortunately, director and co-writer Luc Besson has already come up with the perfect way to describe his movie, which he did at the script stage (via The Film Stage):

http://d1oi7t5trwfj5d.cloudfront.net/b7/6e/b6e80d9849da865820df445e4758/besson.jpg

Fortunatley, “‘Léon: The Professional‘ meets ‘Inception‘ meets ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,'” is not so easy to visualize, so you’ll just have to see “Lucy” yourself and make sure it finishes first. Movies this big and this weird don’t come along often.

Film, consciousness, and mystery

by Jon Rappoport

July 25, 2014

www.nomorefakenews.com

There is more mystery in two minutes of David Lynch’s Inland Empire than in all American films produced in the last 50 years.

The first films ever made registered like dreams with audiences, and they were made with that idea in mind.

Mystery. A priceless commodity which has no market.

I’m not talking traditional suspense, which depends on beginning, middle, and end, and clues sprinkled on the way to a satisfying resolution. That is organized mystery, a contradiction in terms.

The opposite of organization isn’t chaos, although many people believe it is. In the hands of filmmakers like Orson Welles (The Trial, Touch of Evil), Jean Cocteau (The Blood of a Poet, Beauty and the Beast), Luis Bunuel (Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie), and David Lynch (Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire), the opposite of organization is mystery; an atmosphere.

Word, image, character, motion, rhythm, tempo—somewhere in the films another previously unknown reality takes over. There are no labels for it.

Society is not attuned to it. People dedicated to living ordinary lives hate it.

“Well, he should have started the story with the theft. Then we would have known what he was talking about. And if he’d given the wife a few extra scenes, her relationship with her son would have been obvious, and the climax would have made sense…”

Organization.

Cut things down to their essentials. Sharpen the focus. Make the audience track with the storyline. Unequivocally deliver the punchline. Sell it.

In other words, eliminate any shred of mystery.

Perhaps someday, Hollywood will be able to make a film that transmits itself in two seconds, like an injection. The sequence of imparted emotions will substitute for content. Sensation A, followed by sensations B. C, D, E, and F. Done.

“I thought it was tremendous. How about you?”

Consciousness, freed from the web of social consensus, is hungry for mystery, a fluid in which gesture, language, and motion explore and invent the impossible; what could never be lived before.

To achieve a simulacrum, a vapid imitation, audiences will sit in a theater and watch “dream-buildings” collapse (Christopher Nolan, Inception), or some kind of assembly-line time-slipping “tour de force” (Cloud Atlas, Tom Twyker, the Wachowskis).

A person committed to an ordinary life will take an occasional leap and look at Possibility in the form of popcorn surrealism.

Film was supposed to be about something else, but it became chopped steak and cars and toasters and invading machines. In the early days, a few yutzes moved out to LA from New York and became moguls of schlock. Which their PR machines sold as culture.

The improvised Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil, and The Trial aren’t even stories. No need. They’re a walking talking series of low-angle black-and-white photographs of astral locales the usual kind of film noir can merely hint at.

By the time David Lynch reaches Inland Empire in his career, he’s doing a ballet of gesture, each movement advancing, with gills, through a bone-muscle-flesh undersea city of corruption only he could have come upon.

Cocteau used living paintings and papier mache as his medium; human characters were driven by impulses in dreams, from which they never awakened.

For all of Stanley Kubrick’s films, it was in Barry Lyndon where, for a minute here and a minute there, the audience was finally and ecstatically delivered whole to another time; the sensuous rooms of the 18th- century Lyndon estate in England. Mystery realized.

“A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.” (Stanley Kubrick)

“A film is a ribbon of dreams. The camera is much more than a recording apparatus; it is a medium via which messages reach us from another world that is not ours and that brings us to the heart of a great secret. Here magic begins.” (Orson Welles)

“The image it [cinema] once held for us all, that of a dream we dreamt with our eyes open, has disappeared. Is it still possible that one thousand people might group together in the dark and experience the dream that a single individual has directed?” (Federico Fellini)

“Fortunately, somewhere between chance and mystery lies imagination, the only thing that protects our freedom, despite the fact that people keep trying to reduce it or kill it off altogether.” (Luis Bunuel)

In the journey into fertile mystery, you go knowing you’ll dispense with your navigational instruments. You’ll find new stars. You’ll follow and at the same time spontaneously draw another map. This is what consciousness wants, not the tired archetypes and cartoons of other minds. And when you come back, you’ll be refreshed, whole, and able to watch, with some degree of interest, people sculpt themselves into units of a highly organized cosmos.

The true power of film has just begun to be tapped.
